I have to take Kelsay’s side here. I mean Wood needs to remember that he doesn’t need to block Kelsay all that long in order to keep him out of a play, and most times he will take himself out of the play all on his own. Now need to exert to much force there….

No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.

Unless he pancakes someone, what reason would he have for disengaging from a block? It’s unlikely he would drive someone out of a play and then still be able to get up field in time to pick off another defender. Sticking with one guy for an entire play keeps that player from potential running the ball carrier from behind or in the case where there’s a cutback. It also gets inside that players head that the guy across from him is gonna go ‘till the whistle and is gonna let up on you one bit – which can obviously tick some guys off. The only thing unfortunate about this is that Wood can’t drive Kelsay across the entire field onto the bench and hold him there.

So easy Marshawn Lynch can do it.

wow

I thought I did an excellent job of making a thinly veiled joke at Kelsay’s expense. I guess I failed.

and most times he will take himself out of the play all on his own.

I thought that might have done it.

Yee, easy Eric.

and most times he will take himself out of the play all on his own.

I understood that as a joke. Didn’t realize the first part was a joke.

So easy Marshawn Lynch can do it.

by thatguy34 on Aug 12, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions

I will take Wood's side

if for no other reason than maybe Kelsay plays better ticked off. And, hear is an idea Kelsay…….how about you beat your man!

I would love the Bills to win games, but I will be happy if they are competitive without snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Instead of beating…oh nevermind.

Well it’s good to see a little fire here. I wouldn’t be suprised if this is a common occurance with Wood in years to come though. He just seems like a guy that once the play starts forgets that the guys on the other side of the line are his team mates. Not that thats a bad thing, brings a good tempermant to the O-line IMHO

by Ghetts on Aug 12, 2009 3:03 PM EDT reply actions

I guess Kelsay has become too accustomed to Country Club training camp under Jauron. Boo frickin hoo Chris, maybe you should try shedding a block now and then and this won’t happen. I have to say I love this kid Wood, if for nothing else, his passion and feistiness.

by NickinRoc on Aug 12, 2009 3:04 PM EDT reply actions

As long as they're not swinging punches

All the fire in the world won’t do you or the team good sitting injured on the bench.

Well, really if you have helmets on the worst thing that’s probably going to happen is a broken hand, or a stiff neck if the face mask is pulled.

Who cares what happened to Kelsay, you’ve gotta love the ferociousness of Eric Wood, because we have lacked linemen like that since the 90’s.

by BillsfanfromDenmark on Aug 12, 2009 3:22 PM EDT reply actions

This is the kind of attitude this team has been lacking. To me Wood should be yelling at Kelsay, “if you don’t want to get blocked that hard or that long, then get better. Stop me from blocking you.”

What a joke Kelsay is for getting upset. Get back at the rook on the next play. We need to start hitting in practice. Seems to me like the Titans do. You can tell they were ready to hit.

Wood seems like the type of guy who might get really pissed off at halftime of the New England game when presumably the Bills will be trailing (sorry for being a pessimist)…and I like that. I’m tired of them losing to NE over and over and over again and not showing any emotion EVER (at least that’s what it seems like).

by NickinRoc on Aug 12, 2009 3:33 PM EDT reply actions

I like the aggressiveness in practice…and I think this is the second time Kelsay has gotten pissed during camp. Let’s just hope Jauron can hone this energy and use it to our advantage. I don;t know about you guys, but I want the Bills to be punishing people out there. I want a bad ass team

The Bills CAN win any game

by killascript on Aug 12, 2009 3:36 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah he dropped an F bomb earlier in camp.

On some poor backup lineman.

Is it just me or has Kelsey gotten into a lot skuffles this camp?

Seems like at least once per week we hear about him getting into a fight with a member of the offensive line. This may be a good thing thouogh, he may play better when he’s pissed off… thats unlikely though.

I heard on the radio that it actually escalated into quite the fight. Paul Hamilton was saying he thought Lynch might have started it by harassing the D. I guess Kelsay had Rhodes in a headlock and Rhodes was livid, having to be restrained. He also said that McCargo was punching someone, not sure who he said though.

From Chris Brown...

“Wood followed through completely with his block at the end of a run play on Chris Kelsay. Kelsay did not seem pleased with that, and the two locked on to each other. Rhodes then jumped in, began to tussle with Kelsay, and they both went to the ground. At that time, Wood and McCargo squared off and began swinging at each other.”

I don’t think I could be happier about that last sentence. Two guys squaring off who give a crap. What we all expected out of Wood and have hoped to get out of McCargo.

by Squirmin' Thurman on Aug 12, 2009 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Wood may be doing more to motivate the Dline than the last 2 Dline coaches combined

I would love the Bills to win games, but I will be happy if they are competitive without snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

by Joe P. on Aug 12, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

And that would be the most action we’ve seen out of McCargo since college.

Maybe Wood called Keslay “The Gutless Wonder”

“Good news fans, the Bills are showing signs of life for the first time in weeks!”

So easy Marshawn Lynch can do it.

Why is it always Kelsay complaining about an offensive lineman blocking him for too long? As most of you have said, boo freakin’ hoo. Maybe if it wasn’t so easy for them to push him all over the place, this wouldn’t happen.

I love this stuff though. Love the intensity, love the aggression, love the attitude, love the teamwork. Of course, Jauron has to talk about how this shows a lack of focus and could cost us, blah blah blah. What this team needs more than anything is some friggin toughness and an attitude. Maybe this type of stuff will actually translate into playing tougher on game day. Jauron’s Country Club practices usually won’t provide that. It’s nice to see guys back up their teammates and show the fire that this has lacked for years.

You got to love this, But

Lets not pick up any flags for playing beyond the whistle or Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties. Also, Is Wood going to be mature enough when the game is on the line not to retalliate and cost us a set back at the wrong times. Yes lets enjoy the attitude it has to help. Keeping the D-Line focused until the Offense returns to formation is a good thing. The D-Lineman need to be mentally focused on defending until the next play, not just the first whistle. Good stuff here as long as no one gets hurt and the team doesn’t suffer as a whole. I would love to see what Chris Kelsey would do during a game if Wood came up to him and said “Hey Brady thinks your a pansy”. I told Brady he is part of my diet every day. These guys could become best friends.

Those are good too, but

I can barely stand on skates, let alone try to fight on them. I love the jersey over the head move.

I gotta throw my vote in on a good old hockey fight. For obvious reasons. But theres nothing like a good old goalie fight.
