Somewhere, Peter King is a very happy man.

He called it ridiculous this morning. Even he is irritated.

Only because he thought that the Vikings should have brought him in mid-season as opposed to at the start of the year.

That's not how I read it.
This is now officially a circus. Favre wishy-washiest player in memory, Vikes his enablers. This is ridiculous.

If I were Childress, I’d have waited until Sage Rosenfels struggled — if he struggled — and then made the call to Favre. By doing it now, Childress loses Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson; how can they ever trust anything he says now? I’m sure both are furious, and Rosenfels, particularly, is crushed. And the way Favre talked to me three weeks ago, there’s a chance he won’t last the season and Childress will have to turn to one of his angry quarterbacks.

King via SI

He doesn’t think that Brett can go all season, and anybody who was forced to watch a lot of Brett last year will agree that he ran out of steam a little down the stretch. So King thinks it is a mistake because if/when Brett runs out of gas Childress will have to depend on a QB who isn’t too happy with him.

Thanks.

Kinda like Pedro or Roger Clemens have done recently coming in mid-stream.

Pedro didn’t retire though

Favre and Clemens are similar because both are egotistical ********.

Right but Pedro came in midseason. That was the only comparison.

i'm

in the Twin Cities, and I can honestly say this City is ON FIRE today. Regardless of what people think about Favre, he is good for football, good for the NFL, and only time will tell if he’s good for the Vikings. But The Vikings are a much maligned franchise like the Bills, so I think they deserve this, as the buzz and emotion of Favre (ala T.O. time 100) is something that is sure fun to watch in this city.

Yeah, with Adrian Peterson in the backfield and Farve under center, the Vikes are dangerous.

Not much to throw to though. Mind you Favre has always found a way to make average receivers look increadible. Watch for Berrian and Rice to have career years this year.

And Percy Harvin as well…

Farve’s a gunslinger. He’ll make mistakes, but as long as the ball is in Peterson’s hands 25-30 times a game, they should make the playoffs with very few problems. And come on, that run D? It’s ridiculous.

Watch for Berrian and Rice to have career years this year.

PA go route to Berrian. PA slant to Harvin. They just need to limit Farve’s number of tosses. That’s where Mangini made his mistake.

Agreed. And I totally forgot about Harvin. Come to think of it, the group of Berrian, Rice and Harvin is a pretty good group of receivers. None of them are outstanding, but none of them are a weakness either.

The Vikings are pretty much a lock for their division this year.

The Vikings are doing everything to make Bills fans feel safer that the team won’t defect to LA. How in the world can you flip flop on your current QB’s and feel the team won’t be hurt by it? It’s like Childress is channeling his inner Mularkey.

Wait until he throws for 300 yards and 3 TD against the Pack. You want to see anger bitterness, that will be it my friend.

I cannot imagine

what the Vikes/Packers games will be like this year. Its already the biggest drunk fest I have ever witnessed, and you add favre to this and I honestly will tell you they will have to call in the National Guard cuz the bitterness and emotion will be off the hook

Monday Night Football in October… Vikings host Packers for first meeting of the year. Tell me you won’t watch the first quarter at least.

I’m honestly more interested in Favre’s first game at Lambo in a Viking’s jersey. That an entertainingly ugly croud.

depends if it is competitive

I have gone to bed if it was a blow out.

I would love the Bills to win games, but I will be happy if they are competitive without snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Any chance?

That if/when the Vikings drop Jackson or Roesenthal, that the Bills might want to upgrade their backup QB spot???

Well we tried the no offense huddle, why not give the no huddle offense a go?!!

by mavadjdj on Aug 19, 2009 9:51 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The question is; Is either of those guys an upgrade? Sage has a strong arm, but isn’t a great QB, and T-Jack? I would take Fitzpatrick over Jackson, probably Rosenfels too.

No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.

by sireric on Aug 19, 2009 10:09 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ditto. I see Jackson as being a worst option then Fitzy and Rosenfels as being about even. In the end I’d rather just keep the QB that practiced all preseason in the no-huddle.

Rosenfels played pretty well in the Vikes last preseason game, but

word is T-Jack is going to be the odd man out. He runs hot and cold, but mostly cold. He is very moble, but can’t seem to read defenses. I would have to pass on Jackson.

I would love the Bills to win games, but I will be happy if they are competitive without snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

ESPN Insider thinks the Bills might be a fit for Jackson….

With the signing of Brett Favre yesterday, the Minnesota Vikings now have quite the conundrum amongst their QBs: who will stay and who will go?

Jason La Canfora writes on NFL.com that Tarvaris Jackson will be the odd man out. It’s possible that the Vikes will try to trade Jackson — sources have indicated to La Canfora that the team could get a fifth round draft pick in return — but he could also just be cut.

If Jackson is shopped, it’s believed that the Bengals, Bills, Bears, Saints, Packers and Rams could all be interested in him as a backup.
