Fitzpatrick is Bad
I have been to 4 practices now and I am seriously scared of our QB position. I know the Buffalo nation loves Trent (im not sold) however, this is about Fitzpatrick, the guy is horrible. From what I have seen his arm is weak, makes horrible reads and throws the ball in the dirt more than losman did. Do you really think he is better than losman? I am surprised that a guy with losmans abilities didn't get picked up by anyone, even as a 3rd stringer. I really think Hamdan looks decent. I liked him last year as well. I am thinking he will make a push for the number 2 or at least he should. I really wish we got someone older with some experience to help Trent if hes going to be our future QB because signing a guy like fitzpatrick is a mistake. He has less experience than trent and he is horrible. Just think if Trent goes down, do you trust Fitzpatrick? I don't. Let me know if you guys are seeing the same thing I am becuase at the practices I went to this guy looks bad. If the Bills FO was smart, they would of picked up a vetran that could of helped trent and been reliable if trent went down.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

agreed
he doesnt look good. hamden looks better. thats bad lol. definitely should bring in someone else
I think he is better than Losman.
Fitzpatrick is learning a brand new system so of course there’s bound to be a learning curve. Apparently he is getting better each practice according to Brian and Matt. I don’t want to rely on either him or Hamdan and it’s on the O line to play smart and keep Trent off his back. It’s on Trent as well to develop his pocket presence and know his line.

Is this the start of the Hamdan bandwagon then?

Its listed among his Personal accomplishements on his bio at the Bills website here.
MPNnow a news concentrator for Buffalo and Rochester news seen here also notes the award.
Finally, here is the actual article from Nox’s english translation site

I always have liked him, he has a real good attitude about football
And all the articles I’ve read on him say the same thing, dude is the perfect #3 QB for a team, he knows how to watch film, has underrated athleticism, and knows his place on the depth chart. He has been friends with the top QB at each of his stops, Hasselbeck, Beck (while he was top QB in Miami) and now Trent.

I wish I could find the picture from a few years ago that used Hamdan’s head on Losman’s body. LOL

Re: Losman. It’s not that no one would have picked him up as a backup or 3rd-stringer. It’s that Losman himself wanted to start.

He thinks he can go play in half a dozen games against guys who can’t cut it in the NFL….and parlay that into a starting gig in the NFL. There’s not much logic to his approach.

I think part of it is just he doesn’t want to sit on the bench. He just wants to play. Maybe he is deluded into thinking he can be a starter in the NFL again. But a large part of me thinks he just wants to play, and if he can play in the UFL, that’s better to him than sitting on the bench in the NFL.

Apparently Losman did get some offers, he just didn’t want to be a third strnger and prefered being a starter in a lesser league. Personally i don’t blame him. A good year in the UFL might give him a shot at returning in the NFL as a backup, or maybe even a starter (I’m looking at Denver when I say that), but a year as a third stringer in the NFL would bring him absolutly nothing. I think he made the right call by chosing the UFL over the NFL.

I don’t know, money talks and the NFL minimum is far more than the UFL maximum (except for Vick). Also, some QBs will be injured in the NFL this season. Had Losman just hung around and waited he would have been able to catch on with some team, likely as the #2 after the starting QB went down and the #2 went to the starting role. Then it’s just an injury or poor play by the backup-turned-starter for Losman to get another chance.

I could be wrong
But I think once the UFL season concludes, players are eligible to sign with an NFL club.

They are, so we could see Losman as a number two (or even as a long shot starter) in the NFL as early as November. I think that the guy just wanted to play as opposed to sit on the bench. You see that with a lot of CFL players where they could be a depth guy in the NFL (like third stringer at their position) but would rather start and just play, so they go to the CFL. Money isn’t the be-all-end-all for everyone.

Losman proved to the NFL that he can’t read defenses and he is to slow to release the ball when he does find his second or third look. Thats why he isn’t and never will start in the NFL, unless someone is really desperate.

HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To be our Matt Cassel he would have needed to be a long time backup with almost no playing expirience. Losman is a one time starter that just sucked in Buffalo.

Yeah God forbid we give the guy two weeks of training camp before we dig his grave.

Brian Griese is available
And he’s a ton better than Fitz and would come cheap.
Your ability to control the LOS is directly linked to your ability to win football games!
FEED the BEAST!
Fitz did okay as a starter last year, and I would look at that more then I would a few practices.
That said, I did like what I saw from Hamdan in the pre-season last year. I actually like him a little more then most around here, but I would still prefer that Trent stays healthy….
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
I think he is better than Losman.
The telling word there is “think”. Losman is better than Fitzpatrick. Problem is Losman was not willing to be a backup here, and probably not anywhere else. A shame, because he provided a real spark a couple of times he came in in relief. So the braintrust opted for a guy who is no better than backup status, but he’s a Harvard man.
Yes, we are in trouble when Edwards get dinged up. I wanted Kyle Boller here, maybe even Leftwich.
The Dick Jauron version of the K-Gun...the Squirt Gun.
Losman never provided a spark. He was a liability every single time he had the ball in his hands. I have ZERO percent faith in his ability to ever manage a game. That’s all he was ever asked to do after he lost his starting job. Fitz is brand new to this system. He could absolutely suck, but I’ll make that judgement after 5 preseason games.
Boller would have been just as bad, he’s only thrown for TDs than INTs twice in his career.

I Totally Disagree
You are judging Fitzpatrick after a couple training camp sessions. C’mon, that is not being fair at all. Turk’s offensive scheme is fairly hard to digest and Fitz just got exposed to it.
Also, this guy has Flutie written all over him. He is a guy who has good pocket presence and can get a first down with his feet if no on is open. Once he learns the offense better he won’t be looking as confused in practice.
Of course Hamdan looks better right now, he’s been in the system for two or three years. But, Fitz will get the #2 spot because he has a lot of experience unlike Hamdan. I’m telling you, Fitz is a clone of Flutie, just give him some time.
they are not clones, flutie was probably a good 7 inches shorter and a lot faster. If you watched this guy last year he wasn’t any good for cinci either. I would just rather have a proven vetran that could help trent
Flutie wasn’t fast, has was agile and elusive, big difference.
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
Well, and Bledsoe did a real good impression of a concrete pillar, but who really cares now?
