Inactive Thoughts
With cornerback Drayton Florence and tight end Derek Fine ruled out for the game, the Bills are down to 51 who have a shot at being active this Monday. That means six players are going to have to remain inactive this week to get the Bills to the requisite 45 players allowed to dress for the game. Here's who I think it will be:
My take -
Gibran Hamdan as Emergency QB
Listed this way he won't take up a roster spot but can only play if the first two guys get hurt.
Jonathan Scott
Scott is the easy one. Kirk Chambers will be the swing tackle on game days just like last year.
Justin Jenkins
Jenkins won't see the field on offense and his special teams usefullness won't get him active on Monday over guys with similar ST abilities like Jon Corto. There is a chance John Wendling could replace Jenkins on the inactive list but I don't see that as likely since Wendling will be here the whole year and Jenkins will be gone if James Hardy comes back.
Chris Ellis
Chris Ellis was inactive for many games last year as the Bills only took 4 DEs out of the tunnel every week.
Ashlee Palmer
Palmer, as much as I like him, is the third backup LB behind Marcus Buggs and Nic Harris. Corto's special teams playing time gets him the nod over Palmer on the active roster.
Jairus Byrd
Byrd was a really tough decision for me but he played third string the majority of the time in the preseason coming off his injury. Lankster would be the only other DB I'd consider sitting but with the injury to Florence, it's less likely the Bills will go with 4 CBs.
Now guys, I have no idea about any of this. It's purely speculation. That was a lot more difficult than I expected, too. Make a case for who you want to be dressed and who you think will be watching the game tomorrow.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Considering the fact that they’re only going into the game with two tight ends, I think they have to dress six wideouts, don’t you?

I don’t, personally. I think you have to dress McIntyre for the RB and TE situation. If you dress Jenkins, you might had to sit a guy like Spencer Johnson.

I’d like both Eliis and Byrd to play…maybe Ellis more than Byrd considering our pass rushing needs and his improvements this preseason.
But, like you said, these are hard decisions. But I think you could be very right. And for the record, I could see the WR situation playing out like that because Nelson can play a little WR if need be, and I like McIntyre as a runner in a strange way
Jauron’s nuts must have dropped this year….Go Bills!
How many times does the 6th WR play anyways? Evans, Owens, Reed, Parrish, Johnson, Nelson, and probably Schouman would be split out before bringing in Jenkins. I just don’t see it.

I can’t see Byrd sitting.
Hamdan, Scott, Jenkins, Ellis, Palmer and Lankster are my 6. I can’t see how it’d be smart to put the raw Lankster in there. I don’t want to see him play until later in the year.

But with Florence out, I don’t see a CB sitting. Just a thought.
It’s hard for me to see Byrd sitting, too. But he didn’t crack the second team in the preseason and didn’t do any special teams that I can remember. When Florence is healthy, Lankster sits instead of Byrd.

My six would at the moment be:
Gibran Hamdan
Jonathan Scott
Corey McIntyre
Chris Ellis
Ashlee Palmer
John Wendling
Jenkins is absolutely useless as a WR, and anybody who claim the opposite are fouling themselves, but he’s a very, very good ST’er, and if I have to choose between McIntyre, Jenkins or Wendling, I choose Jenkins. I think I’d be a bit out of order to have 10 DB’s active on gameday, and McIntyre is not going to see one moment of play on offense during the three games he’ll be on our team this year (when Beast Mode returns) and he’s pretty medicore as a ST’er. I know we only have two TE’s healthy, but at the same time, it’s not like we implore three TE-sets often, and I think we’ll be just fine with Nelson.

I’m guessing Ellis will play since they need all the pass-rushing troops they can get, and Jenkins as well since he is so valuable on ST. Lankster is probably going to sit — although the injury to Florence makes that a little iffy. By the way, Jenkins will not necessarily get cut when Hardy comes back. By then there will probably be a couple of guys who have gone on IR. Jenkins might in effect take one of their roster spots, depending on what positions they played and if there is someone on the PS to move up as a replacement.
You still only sat one guy (Lankster) while activating two (Ellis, Jenkins).

So here’s a question: what do inactive players do on Sunday? Do they come to the stadium? Where do they watch the game? Do they sit at home?
Wouldn't it be ironic if this team imploded and it had nothing to do with TO?

Shows what I know...

Did not see Steve Johnson being inactive nor Kirk Chambers. It makes sp,e sense I guess with Stupar’s signing.
Lankster is a little shocking, only because of the injury to Florence.
