Bills make roster moves prior to opener
Three hours before the season opener, Buffalo has made a roster move releasing wide receiver Justin Jenkins and signing tight end Jonathan Stupar from the practice squad to the active roster.
Stupar, who spent last season on the Bills practice squad, impressed Bills fans with his performance this preseason but still found himself relegated to the pracitce squad last weekend after final cuts. During the pre-season he proved his value, leading the NFL with 19 receptions for 184 yards and a touchdown. Stupar is signed to fill in for the injured Derek Fine, who is out with a hamstring injury. The other tight ends for Buffalo are Derek Schouman and rookie Shawn Nelson.

It makes perfect sense. I can’t imagine Jenkins would have been active tonight. Might as well add a TE who could take some blocking off of Nelson’s hands. I wonder if Stupar stays when Fine gets healthy. Maybe he goes when Lynch comes back?

My guess would be that barring other injuries (which undoubtedly happen), Stupar goes when Hardy is ready (assuming Fine is also “fine”).

Chris Brown speculated that Stupar goes back to the PS when Fine comes back. He could also go, as karovda reported, when Hardy comes back. Fine is the key, though.

No doubt he’ll return to the PS when Fine is 100%, barring other injuries…

Dream. Come. True.
Stupar is going to win this football game. The scoreboard might not reflect that at the end of the day, but rest assured, Jonathan Stupar will be tied for first in the AFC East come tomorrow morning.

How can he be tied for the AFC East when he IS the AFC East?

The man is clearly larger than life. He is somehow able to be both tied for the AFC East AND the AFC East at the same time.

but more complex…

Bills inactives:
WR Steve Johnson, CB Drayton Florence, CB Ellis Lankster, LB Ashlee Palmer, OL Kirk Chambers, TE Derek Fine, DE Chris Ellis.

Is Stevie hurt?
Having him inactive is dumb IMO

I haven’t read anything about Steve’s being injury. I think it’s a game plan. I think they lost one good red zone target.

He was limited in practice this week if I recall correctly...

Whats up with Steve Johnson and Chris Ellis being inactive? Who else thinks they could be used tonight? Hmm…

I told you Ellis would be inactive. Johnson surprises me especially with Jenkins being cut.

That I did. I didn’t think they would go with 5 WRs or 4 CBs but clearly I was wrong.

Absolutely pathetic that Stevie is not active. Why useless McIntyre is active, who won’t be on the field, instead of Stevie makes no sense, but this is a Dick Jauron-led team. He’s clueless

McIntyre is active because Omon is the backup RB.

Haha
I can only think that if the Bills had done anything other than activate Stupar everyone here would be screaming about the timing of this.
Why did they wait so long….oh they activated Stupar…well that’s okay then.

That's why I made the sarcastic comment
about the coach fired at halftime. This organization is losing it, big-time!

I think Fine’s injury could be worst than they imagined.

I think they waited so
long cuz if they would cut Jenkins the Pats would have scooped him up and gotten our secret info!

Can anybody explain to me why Corey ‘useless’ McIntyre is active instead of Stevie?
by BillsfanfromDenmark on Sep 14, 2009 6:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Because Xavier Omon is the backup running back. At no time did I think McIntyre would be inactive tonight.

If they deactivated him they would have Jackson and Omon active as running backs and that is it.

i hate ESPN
Teddy Bruschi predicted 69-7 score. Ditka said they’ll put up 80. They all are laughing at the Bills organization. I can’t say I don’t agree, but the sucking up to the Pats they do is incredulous!
