Around SBN: Ray Allen Fighting Age, Injury And His New Role

Per BuffaloBills.com: "Bills head coach Dick Jauron did not give a timetable on the knee injuries suffered by RT Brad Butler and TE Derek Schouman, but both were to undergo further testing and examination tonight to ascertain the severity of the injuries.

Presumably both will undergo MRIs to see whether they suffered any structural damage to their knees. Butler was able to hobble to the sideline with assistance from the trainers. Schouman’s appeared the most serious as he was carted from the field."

Both injuries are tough to have on this team...

Hope Nelson can bounce back soon and Stupar can step in and Fine can step up. Not sure about OT though… Butler going to be tough to replace. TE took a lot of big hits today and hope we can weather the storm while some of these guys recover or we can get their back-ups up to speed.

If I had to guess, I would say the Schouman is done for the year. Thus starteth the Stupar reign.

that’s terrible. i hope we are not ravaged by injuries. i didn’t even realize nelson was hurt. we played a good game today. defense gave up too many 3rd and 4th down plays. but we did hit leftwich a few times, altough i would have liked more sacks. gonna have our hands fulls next week against the explosive saints.

Schouman’s sure looked like an ankle injury when it first happened. It is likely serious based on the cart being brought out…

Butler’s looked ugly too…Hope it’s only a minor injury. Jonathan Scott looked pathetic (huge surprise) when Butler went out. We need him…..

I could have sworn it was his knee. It looked like he planted his right foot, and his knee bent in a way no one’s ever should.

His ankle got tucked under, but it could be either his knee or ankle. It was pretty ugly, IMO.

I def agree with the ugly part. He looked like he didn’t want to move his leg an inch, without even putting weight on it.

i think jauron said in the press conference

it was butler knee. and the website has it listed as knee. leo’s injury was an ankle thing

I was talking about Schouman's injury

Butler’s was definitely a knee injury.

I didn’t think Scott looked too awful. That’s just me, though.

Bummer

Although the backups filled in admirably…..so thats a plus, but you hate to see that kinda thing happen to key cogs on the team.

it happened to us last year. how many starters are we down already?

Poz, Schouman, and Butler. Florence is our nickel corner and he has been out. Not to mention our backup MLB who would be starting right now (Digi) is out for the year.

and i have to say, i am very encouraged from what i’ve seen out of the 2009 buffalo bills thus far! =)

how about dick jauron going for it on 4th and 1 in our own 30something? lol gutsy, but great.

I was more impressed with the way it was done. In times past, when the Bills would have tried something like this they would have gone with an off-tackle run or a pitch out. What happened on that play is that Hangartner, Wood and Levitre just plowed through the defensive line giving Trent enough room to make it an easy pickup. (the penalty was just a bonus)

I have to say that the interior offensive line trio is looking damned impressive in their first two games.

We finally have an interior that can get the job done.

Its looking like the 2007 squad with injuries. No good for business

CBS Sports gives some clarity.

Schouman was walking around the locker room after the game with a limp. No ligament damage. I expect a sprained knee and he will be out for a few weeks from what I have read now.

Leo and Nelson should be good to go against the Saints.

I am not so optimistic about Butler. That was a rough one to watch.

We are fortunate both Nelson and McKelvin are seemingly expected to stand a decent chance of playing against the Saints next week, which is utterly crucial. Hopefully, both Butler and Schouman will only be out for 2-4 weeks, but again we’ll see, and I’m still very hopeful that both Jonathan Scott and Fine/Nelson will be able to take off from where those guys left.
