Inactive Thoughts: Week 3

Last week I was a crisp 6 of 7 with my only mistake activating Drayton Florence over John McCargo.  This week, in a reversal of fortune, Florence has been full go in practice and McCargo is listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury. Shawn Nelson also did not practice with a shoulder injury suffered against the Bucs but is officially listed as probable.

The Bills had some major injuries last week as Brad Butler and Derek Shouman were both placed on Injured Reserve, ending their seasons.  They obviously don't count against the active roster but their replacements are certainly considerations.  In that case, lots of new names on the inactive list this week in order from most likely to not see the field to least likely.

Star-divide

Paul Posluszny
After having surgery expect the LB to be out for a few more weeks.  He is back to working out, though.

Justin Jenkins
Off the roster in week 1. Inactive last week. Potentially cut Monday to make room for Lynch.

Ellis Lankster
Inactive both weeks despite Florence's injury in the two contests.  Looks to be practicing for 2010.

Jamon Meredith
The newly signed offensive tackle will replace Kirk Chambers on the inactive list.  Let's hope Meredith doesn't see the field this year.

Chris Ellis
He was inactive for both of the first two games, despite Kelsay being less than 100% last week.

Steve Johnson
There has been some talk that Johnson expects to play this week.  If Shawn Nelson can't go I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see Scuba Steve's dreads under a helmet for the first time this year.  At the very list he moves ahead of Ellis and is more likely to dress.

John McCargo
McCargo was active both weeks but has seen limited playing time. He did not practice Friday after injurying himself earlier in the week.

***

Shawn Nelson could very easily find himself on this list depending on his shoulder injury.  He said he felt fine but is listed as questionable. Terrence McGee has consistently played through injuries, part of the reason he signed his new contract, and will play this week though he is listed as questionable.  Josh Reed was also limited in practice this week, another potential spot for Steve Johnson to take.  I doubt Reed sits as well based on their histories but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Off the list from last week is Drayton Florence returning from injury and Kirk Chambers, activated to replace Jonathan Scott as swing tackle.  Scott, as you know, replaces Butler as starting right tackle.

Good calls – I like them all

I was born in Buffalo, and NO, it's not a suburb of New York City

I would much rather have Stevie active than, say, a guy like McIntyre, who is – as I’ve put it about a dozen times – useless to this football team.

McIntyre plays special teams that’s why he’s active…..

He plays it

doesn’t mean he plays it well….

So Nelson lied to me on Twitter. It’s like you can’t trust people anymore LOL!

He didn't practice Friday

so it was unlikely he would play today….

That’s true but I thought they may been resting it from contact so he could go over the weekend. Last Sunday night he said his shoulder was fine and I put too much stock in it.
