Bills vs Saints: Week 3 Open Game Thread
New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills, Sep 27, 2009 4:05 PM EDT

Buffalo Bills (1-1) vs New Orleans Saints (2-0)
4:05 PM ET, Ralph Wilson Stadium (TV: FOX)
Bills inactives: LB Paul Posluszny (arm), rest TBD.
The Buffalo Bills have accomplished two major feats to this point in the regular season: they have suffered crushing defeat, and they've rebounded from it. Through two weeks, the Bills sit at .500, have proven they are talented, and have also shown just how far they have to go.
Today, they can take a major step toward contender by defeating the thus-far-undefeated New Orleans Saints. That won't be an easy task - we've discussed all week the many intricacies of a Saints team that has been dominant in their 2-0 start. Just because a task isn't easy, however, doesn't mean it cannot be accomplished. There are no moral victories to be had in this matchup today, folks - this is a game the Bills must win if they're to be considered anything other than pretenders.
These Bills are out to prove something today: that they aren't the Bills of old; that they can win tough games against good teams; and that they can defend their home-field advantage. It will take hard, fast, smart football. They're capable of it. But today needs to be the day where capabilities transform into achievements. If you're at The Ralph today, we - the 12th man - can be catalysts in that process. Be loud. Believe this team is different. Believe they're going to make a statement today.
This is your game thread. Let the adrenaline flow. GO BILLS!

I’m beyond tired of hearing about how great Drew Brees is. He was mediocre out of that dome last year and Buffalo’s D is going to make him look mediocre today. Go Bills!

You can make halftime adjustments and come out swinging. If you’re playing at home the fans are amped up so maybe they are louder for the first series by their offense. Just sayin.

why do you run a no huddle without the hurry up?
by jpheff on Sep 27, 2009 6:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
No huddle doesn’t mean hurry up, we get to keep the same d package on the field without substitution, cause we can snap anytime, minimizes the versatility of the d against us.
Well we tried the no offense huddle, why not give the no huddle offense a go?!!

With the WR talent here and the two outstanding deep threats, the playcalling needed to change to use them. No shock to anyone, it hasn’t. Bunch of passes to TEs and RBs and the little that goes to WRs is 5 yard routes. Just an embarrassing waste of talent. One of the worst wastes you will ever see.

maybe we wouldn't have had to draft/get a FA CB and used that money on the O

obviously our secondary was good enough today.
Brees has under 175 yards passing.

12 penalties.....
most on offense and 2 turnovers will cause that to happen.

This team is a joke.

Thanks Buffalo for what appears to be another rebuilding year!

a rebuilding year would be better than this. The whole thing needs to be blown up, starting from the top all the way down.

This isn't a rebuilding year.
Jauron has built nothing in 4 years. This team has not got one tiny bit bitter from the day he started to now. Why the hell is he still here.

such a shame.

was held to 10 points in 3 quarters…..
It was close.

NO! Stop it. NO moral victories… They played bad, we got lucky on D. They didn’t even play their #1 running back till the second half (Pierre Thomase).

who said anything about a moral victory?
the offense was putrid…….it’s not the defenses fault this game was lost.
It’s all on the O.

holding NO to 10 points through 3+ quarters
is like shutting out the Bucs IMO.
The two offenses cannot be compared………
If I told you Brees would be 16-29 for 172 yards and 0 TD’s in this game you would be more than pleased………

the offense didnt hold up their part of the bargain.

N.O. is obviously not as good as advertised, since Buffalo is much worse and still hung through 3.5 quarters

Well, just like we wouldn’t be on the playoffs bandwagon if we’d won, we shouldn’t be on the “die everyone die” for losing. This New Orleans team may go to the Super Bowl. Let’s keep at it next year.

The owner of the L.A. Bills? I agree that it starts at the top, but its a bit of a catch-22. New owner likely means no team.
