Amazing
I think it was a reporter who made note that Pennington hasn’t (ever?) had back-to-back full seasons.

I can’t believe he tore something on that hit. It looked very minor.
Gotta load up to stop the run this week….

That’s a baaaaad idea. Not stopping the run, obviously, but Henne can hurt you deep, and so can Ted Ginn.

Indeed. I’d have rather faced a known commodity in Pennington. Henne was a 4 year starter at Michigan, so I don’t see the lights being too bright for him, and has a great arm that opens up the play book considerably compared to Pennington. Leadership loss, but physical talent serious upgrade.

Henne is more innaccurate and doesn't look confident on the field
so as far as QB’s go I think that Henne is a serious downgrade.

But do you expect Miami to put it in his hands often this week?

If we load the box down in and down out? Absolutely.

Load up was the wrong use of words
Gear up is more in line with what I wanted to say. I’d much rather let Henne try to beat us then let Brown/Williams/Wildcat beat us. I don’t want them to bring 8 into the box on every play, but the main concern needs to be shutting down the run, which I’m sure it will be.
Henne can throw it deep, but how often do we get beat deep?

pass rush will be key
A totally raw QB who has never started an NFL game. The Bills need to blitz every down and rattle the hell out of him. Could be a good turnover game. I also hope that Marshawn isn’t too rusty from the lay-off and is better for it. He should be fresh and psyched up. Lets see if BEASTMODE is still relevent.
Ted Ginn can jump off a fantasy cliff for all I care. The guy produces NOTHING and in my one league of 12 teams, he’s my #2 receiver. I hate the Ginn.

Yeah, well, fantasy aside, he’s hurt Buffalo before, and that’s really all I care about. :)

I know. I just wanted to vent. He had his best day as a pro against the Bills.

A lot of people have their best day against Buffalo
Ask Brady Quinn
by ccthemovieman on Sep 28, 2009 4:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Brady Quinn went 14 for 36 against us, for 185 yards. As crappy as his career has been, that’s not his best day….That’s a horrible day.

"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."
Well, it was good enough to beat us
which was the point (and Quinn hasn’t done much winning with the Browns)

He torched us last time because McGee was banged up. McGee is still banged up (kinda) and we’ve got the walking wounded at safety.
I think it’s possible to take him out of the game. Challenge him at the line. Who else is gonna burn you deep? Camarillo? Probably not. I don’t know how the rookie WRs are doing, but I haven’t heard anything at all about them.
I’m with K. Ginn is a scary deep threat, but the rest of their WRs are underneath guys or crappy rookies. I think we can load up the box and still give McGee (who I’d bet has a great game after what happened to him last year) plenty of help over the top.

Pennington
Honestly, I think this is a blessing in disguise for Miami. They need to see if Henne is the future. And the Bills need to make him look like the second coming of Jon Beck.
Well, we made John Beck look like the first coming of John Beck… hope springs eternal.

But if the OL isn’t green, it won’t be as much of a feast. Gregg Williams deserves kudos for dialing up the 3-4 and blitz packages against the Bills very green line. How inexperienced is Miami’s line?

Bummer for Chad.
Even though he plays for the Fish, always liked the guy even with the Jets.

yea
always a class act if i remember correctly. im a little more afraid of henne tho, cuz who knows what he can do. the only thing the bills can look at is preseason tape. i expect alot of running and simple passes for henne, i dont really see him throwin it deep like has been suggested just because it will be his first start, and he will probably play it safe…. at least thats my opinion

Call me crazy but,
If Henne was better than Pennington for the Dolphins, why didn’t he start week 1? You can’t possibly think the team is going into this nervous about an unproven QB. They have much else to be nervous about, but who plays QB should be the least of their worries.

well with pennington
you know you only have to guard like 30 yards, with henne, that field grows. im not saying they should be afraid, im just saying with pennington, you know what you are getting. henne is an unknown and has the potential to cause problems. and i cant possibly agree that whoever plays qb is the least of their worries. dont we hear all the time this is a qb league? who plays qb is quite possibly the most important thing to worry about.

I was alluding to the fact that this team needs to “learn to conquer themselves, before opponents” as Brian so eloquently stated. They’ll beat no one if they can’t learn to stop doing it to themselves.

kinda reminds of
Ken Griffey Jr. World of talent, but injuries killed an all but record-breaking career.
Henne looked bad playing against the Chargers, hopefully that will continue.

Bad news for us.
with no doubt about it. It might just help you guys. Good luck next week, anyway. I’ll probably cry if we go 0-4 but it isn’t like I haven’t been through it before.

the way the bills' d shut down drew brees
means it doesn’t really matter who the dolphins have at qb— what y’all need to stop is the run game, especially since miami will probably rely move heavily on the wildcat.
he returned.
Joey Porter though did not.

Will he play next week? If both Porter and Pennington are out the Dolphins are in trouble.

it could be the case. We will be in deep trouble without Pennington alone and Joey gone is a double blow. It is too bad but it will help you guys.

It’s a hamstring. So it’s anybody’s guess until he starts to or sits out practice.
