Bills vs Lions: Pre-Season Open Game Thread

Detroit Lions at Buffalo Bills, Sep 3, 2009 6:30 PM EDT

Thebestteameverred_medium   Det_medium
Buffalo Bills (1-3) vs Detroit Lions (2-1)
6:30 PM, Ralph Wilson Stadium
SB Nation's Detroit Lions coverage:
Pride of Detroit

It's nearly over, Bills fans.  The Buffalo Bills will take the field in just over a half-hour's time to finally, mercifully, bring this lengthy pre-season to an end.

This is your open thread to discuss the game.  I won't be present, as I'll be taking the game in at The Ralph in person.  (If you're at the game reading this and see a young guy in a throwback Fred Jackson jersey, it might be me.)  Please respect our new rule of not posting links to this particular game streaming online; otherwise, have fun, keep it clean, and go Bills.  After tonight, the games count!

First time

Being first. looking forward to seeing how the O line holds up

Well we tried the no offense huddle, why not give the no huddle offense a go?!!

Just a question...

Is it because they are the only starters or would you have been watching them regardless?

No I actually want to see them working as a unit, and would have been watching them closely regardless. Detroit’s defense should be a little easier than GB’s last week to handle. I’m looking forward to see who in the 2nd units impress me as well, I’ve gotten a lot of informed opinions from the site but nothing beats hands on scouting.

More that he really really wants to play… I don’t see him touching the field though, which is fine. Better to rest the wrist.

I knew we all wanted to see the starters in there, but Stafford will be starting for the Lions so it is a ‘decent’ test for our D-line. Especially to see how Maybin looks at attacking him – could be similair to how he does against Sanchez…

Knowing our luck, Fitzy will go out and look like the second coming of Jim Kelly—leading the offense to 5 consecutive TDs….thus starting a QB controversy.

Well Brian made it a rule here, so that’s that. But I have no idea why preseason games are not only blacked out, but not allowed to be shown on the internet. It’s not like people are paying big bucks to Directv to see preseason games, although these games should be provided to those who buy the Ticket….

Wow- Mark Sanchez

Mark Sanchez 1st drive today: 5 for 5, 67 yards, td, 2-3 VERY nice downfield throws. Kid just looked like a star on that drive. (granted, preseason vs Philly 2nd team)

I’m trying to be supportive of Trent, but after seeing Sanchez literally “wow” me, I’m not sure I see that in Edwards too much. Damn

hang has graded out well but it still worries me about the massive 3 tackles in the division.

Pluss though the announcers like to blame the quarterback offsides on your center twice in two weeks is bad. double clutching is bad.

penalties are what worry me the most. Can't go from a 3rd and 2 to a 3rd and 7 on a consistant basis.

In the past we have been ok with the penalties but dumb things like that kill drives and wins in the NFL. u see peter king has us going 6-10? yikes!
