Russ Grimm
Last nite on Sirius NFL radio, Late Hits with Ross Tucker and Brian McGovern had Ken Whisenhunt as a guest. He said the team has given permission for Grimm to speak with the Bills. And its looking like they will actually meet next week after the game due to the tight time constraints.
So it does sound like Grimm will interview with us, once he has the time. I would rather interview the guy when he has the time then try and cram in a 4hr interview. Since, I think there isn't much to gain from rushing an interview with a coach who does have a busy schedule due to the playoffs.
Just thought I would try and update everyone.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I agree
And given that I really want it to work with Grimm, I prefer not rushing it. The downside is the longer we wait, the more chances of other positions opening up. The fact that he wants to wait until he has time to prepare is a good sign for us.
Nothing left to say...
Root for the Saints and Vikings this week. :-)

It makes Frazier available immediately as well as Grimm. To pursue if that is the Teams desire. I guess it makes since if the Vikings win, it forces the Bills to look at even more candidates.
Let the offseason begin
He said root FOR, not against. You either root for New Orleans and DALLAS if you want both, or Arizona and Minnesota if you don’t want either.

Jason Garrett perhaps?

"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."
Yeah, therein lies the problem.
I want them to interview Grimm – so I will root for the Saints (a team I have no problem rooting for anyway) so the Cards lose and the Bills can hopefully sit down with Grimm.
I like Riveria so I’d like the Bills to interview him, which means rooting against San Diego and indirectly rooting for the Jets. Something I simply cannot do.
I like Frazier. I just want to be sure they actually interview someone else – and if their hand is forced, I’m not confident they actually will. So I’d like the Vikings to stay in the playoffs another week to ensure the Bills coaching search continues and extends beyond one real interview. But, rooting for the Vikings means rooting for Brett Favre to succeed – and the violates everything I stand for as a man.
Bill Polian and AJ Smith are gone, so there's not the usual balance between "sane" and "others." Ralph has mentally checked out since 1994. It's a very dangerous time. The coalition for reason is extremely weak.
Thats quite a problem. If I ever am caught in a situation like that, I root for the defense. On both teams.

If you want Grimm instead of Frazier, root that way.
If you don’t want Frazier to be hired the Vikings need to win and stay in. That way Grimm has the option of interviewing and impressing while Frazier can’t be hired.

No need to get excited, while we continue to be the only coaching gig in the league there’s no need to rush into anything. Now that Grimm has accepted to be interviewed he eventually will by next week sometime.
Nothing left to say...
He can only interview next week if the Cardinals lose this weekend.

I know but even if they win and go all the way to the Superbowl, we are still the only gig in town so there is no rush for next week per say.
Obviously as teams get eliminated, more vacancies might pop-up, I know that too.
Nothing left to say...
Right I know what you’re saying but there’s work to be done planning for the draft including the Senior Bowl and Shrine game. The sooner they get a coach, the better.

As I’ve stated before I’m a big fan of Grimm. Mainly because I’m from the Pittsburgh area and Grimm grew up / played HS football 10min from my house for my rival HS. I payed close attention to him while he was interviewing for the Steelers HC position and have tried to keep up to date while he has been in Arizona.
He is very respected in my area and is an offensive line genius. The cardinals were basement dwellers when Ken and Russ moved out there and now look at them! He knows that a winning football team starts in the trenches because he himself was an All-Pro lineman for years in the NFL.
Not sure if anything will pan out but right now he is my first choice. He’s been around so many great coaches through out his career and knows what to look for.
Born and raised that way and proud of it! My entire family except for me, my grandpap, mom and brother are Steelers fans.
Its hard being a Bills fan anywhere other than Western NY. Im in the middle of Jets/Giants country. My own father makes fun of me. I cant go two weeks without hearing wide right from somebody.

I live in the Hudson valley area of NY and all my co-workers say, why don’t you let your son become a Giants fan (my son is 2yrs old). I simply state, misery loves company and that I wont give him the option.
Let the offseason begin

As do I! I live in the New Paltz area. Where you at buddy?
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
I lived in VT for 4 years and dealt with Pats fans 24x7 god I hate those losers
As my mother once said, common sense isn't as common as it should be, I'm looking at you Ralph, get the Front Office in order, THEN worry about who your HC is....
You had me at “offensive line genius”

I have to be honest; I think impromptu meetings where a guy doesn’t have the time to prepare too much are very telling, and most times give you more insight about how a potential coach truly thinks then if he had the time to prep answers that he knew you might be looking for.
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
I see your point.
But I think it makes the Bills seem like they aren’t patient enough to care about his situation either. Lets face facts, he is getting his players ready for a playoff game. It may turn him off if the Bills only care about themselves, and don’t care about him preparing his players for the playoffs.
I say let the guy decide when is best if he wants to interview. It is a different story if they aren’t in the playoffs.
Let the offseason begin
I look at when Tom Donahoe hired Gregg Williams. John Fox and Marvin Lewis gave poor interviews because they were prepping for a Super Bowl. Williams blew Donahoe away with a great well prepared interview.
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
I interview a lot of people on a monthly basis
One thing I find is that the more experience you have in interviewing potential candidates the more you are likely to see through to the “real man”, the more you know what questions to ask, and the more you know what type of person you are looking for.
To me, whether the candidate is prepared or not would not matter to the result, because I ask challenging questions that only someone with real knowledge to the subject can answer.
I guess what I’m saying is that, time for preparing may or may not be a factor as long as Nix and Brandon know exactly what they are looking for and that they have a real plan/target on this hiring.
Bills fan half way around the world
That is true and a very good point, but since this is Nix’s first time as a GM how many interviews has he run before this year?
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
He’s hired coaches for his own staff before. College HCs are their own GMs in a sense, right?

Exactly
If you’re building a hotel, and want to gain understanding of the timeline for completion, issues in construction, etc., you gain more insight by going to the job site, impromptu, and talking to the site manager. If you schedule a meeting, you get political talk and powerpoint slides that say everything is great.
It’s kind of the premise behind the new show where the boss goes to work for his company as an entry level worker.
