The Bills are said to be impressed with how Gailey has brought teams to the playoffs with quarterbacks such as Mike Tomczak, Kordell Stewart and Jay Fiedler. In fact, Bill Cowher -- whom the Bills had been courting to replace the fired Dick Jauron -- highly recommended Gailey to the Bills. Cowher planned to make Gailey his assistant head coach/offensive coordinator if he came back.

That's all fine and dandy
but why is he the head coach then?
Everything points to him being a much better choice as OC.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m still hoping that this is an OC hier to Frazier’s HC job.

but why is he the head coach then?
im assuming thats rhetorical.
however I would say that it’s a) because the big guns turned us down and b) Nix and Co. didn’t feel that there was that big of a gap between Frazier or Gailey.
Fraziers had some excellent talent over there in Minnesota – Chan’s worked with sub-par players over the years and got something out of them.
we have sub par players – we need offense. seems logical to an extent

He’s the coach because it was 4 a.m., the bartender just yelled last call, and the Bills hadn’t made any significant progress on the group of young, attractive college girls at the end of the bar.
Before the light’s were flicked on and everyone was kicked out, the Bills had to take something home, and Gailey was the 40-something, divorcee drinking cosmos by herself at the other end of the bar. After their long night of drinking and getting shot down by everyone else in the place, Gailey was starting to look like a mid-level cougar. Only time will tell if Gailey’s “experience” will pay off for the Bills.
Bill Polian and AJ Smith are gone, so there's not the usual balance between "sane" and "others." Ralph has mentally checked out since 1994. It's a very dangerous time. The coalition for reason is extremely weak.

Its as good as done
Nothing like coming to work and your co-workers sarcastically yelling “Chan!” The Chan Gailey era starts today… and I couldn’t be less excited.

Yeah, there’s a LONG time to be writing about all of that. BG is good at pacing his work!

I guess the next question is who might Gailey bring in as his OC and DC.

Judging by their ages
(Wilson is 92, Nix is 71, Gailey is 58) I would say the first place they’ll look is a nursing home.

Has the H1N1 virus set up shop over 1BD? I really have an ill feeling about all of this.

Am I the only one who interprets this

As bad news for the QB position with the Bills? Please Buffalo, don’t settle for mediocrity at the QB position any more. I’d rather have a guy come in and find a stud QB. And no, that guy is NOT Tyler Thigpen.

I don’t think it has anything to do with “settling” so much as understanding that it’s going to be REALLY difficult to find a quality quarterback this off-season.

Talks about McNabb being available this offseason are piking up steam. Personally I’d give up our second rounder for McNabb in a heartbeat.

WOW! Are they serious????
I guess going in a different direction wasn’t in the plans for Ralph Wilson. He hired old guys he can control once again, for cheap I am sure. I think I am going to be a Cowboys fan next season. Atleast, they have a cool stadium and better cheerleaders.
I dont give two poops what Bill Cowher thinks...............
Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. - Peter Gibbons

I'm not liking this
Basically, they hired a guy who is good at getting into the playoffs with substandard players. That’s something the NY Jets do. Ugh.
