Lombardi says Bills have made a decision on HC

Michael Lombardi said on NFL Total Access tonight that a source inside the Buffalo Bills organization told him they have made their decision on who they want to go with.

This leads me to believe it is either Bill Cowher or Marty Schottenheimer.

As far as we know, they have only interviewed Perry Fewell and Leslie Frazier officially, with suspected "secret" talks with Cowher; plus, you have the relationship between Marty and GM Buddy Nix.

If the Bills really have made their decision on coach, who else could it be?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I saw it on NFL Total Access as well. But he actually said something more along the lines of “I’ve spoken to a team source who says they are very close to making a decision and they think they have their man.”

You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.

Oh and he also said the source didn’t tell him who that man was just “they think they have their man”

The Minnestoa DC?

Frasier (sp)? That was today, wasn’t it?

Agreed

Especially since the talk of someone with HC’ing experience.

Mine would be too

But that’s mostly due to not interviewing other potential options. I could live with Frazier if they went through the process and interviewed a good 5-7 guys and determined he was the best for the franchise. I would not be happy if he’s one of two guys interviewed, and got the job.

Frazier

If you interview one person and you really like him and appears to be the guy you want, what difference does it make how many others you interview. Your mind is probably already made up unless someone really blows you out of the water

It can’t be Frazier if a hiring is imminent. They can’t hire him until the Vikings are out of the playoffs.

by MattRichWarren on Jan 7, 2010 8:34 PM EST reply actions

But

couldn’t they have made a verbal agreement?

He didn’t say the hiring was imminent. Just the decision.

by PerryTuttle22 on Jan 7, 2010 8:35 PM EST up reply actions

Well...

Just based on what is being quoted above, they didn’t say that they signing was imminent, just that they “got their man”. So it could be Frazier

by jri111 on Jan 7, 2010 8:35 PM EST up reply actions

I can’t see them hiring Frazier without doing more interviews with other candidates….I can’t see Frazier or Fewell as the next head coach.

by RIP058 on Jan 7, 2010 8:36 PM EST reply actions

I agree. Unless it was Cowher or Shotty there is really no reason to rush into this without doing more interviews. We are the only team with an opening right now.

Maybe Frazier knocked it out of the park

He seems like the odds on favorite if this report is true.

Fewell and Fraizer are the only two that have had “official” interviews. I think Fewell would have really had to hit a home-run in his interview for the Bills to cut their search short and settle on him. If it was Cowher or someone big, I don’t think it would come out like this. The Bills wouldn’t be making the final decision, Cowher would.

If these reports are true, I’d bet good money on it being Frazier.

The Bills could be agreeing to a Cowher or Schottenheimer's contract demands....

If they hire Frazier or Fewell, and not interview anyone else, I will drop off all my Bills clothes, memorbilia and OBD.

This franchise makes me wanna vomit sometimes. Can you tell I’m nervous..

They can’t, I repeat can’t hire Frazier for at least another few days. And the way Nix talked about Fewell and his credentials, I’m pretty certain Fewell won’t be coming back as the HC. That leaves some time for someone, somewhere to still be interviewed.

BTW, Who is this Joe Logan guy that is all of a sudden the Ultimate Insider?

This guy’s tweets are now making news on Profootballtalk.com, his tweet from yesterday said

“Cowher OK with what the BIlls will offer Salary wise, but looking for commitment from RB for player budget.”

Who is this guy?

Does makes me wonder.....

With the comment that the Bills believe they have made a decision and have their guy, I wonder if that means Ralph and Russ agreed to whatever playing spending Cowher was looking for in Logan’s tweet???? Hmm…

My "source" says Marty

I spoke to a former NFL Scout yesterday, Russ Lande, who still has many connections in the NFL, he also writes for the Sporting News now, he said he thinks it will most def be Marty

I talk to Russ once per week, if anyone wants me to ask him anything about the upcoming draft, let me know, he publishes GM Jr each year before the draft, it is a book of Scouting Reports on hundreds of college players

Why did this have to happen during the BCS National Championship game?!

I just had gotten comfortable on the couch and watch a great football game… Now I’m forced to multi-task!

p.s. I hope McCoy is okay and will return…. I really wanted to see him play in a big game.

Was thinking the same thing.

I really wanted to see him play in a big game.

And that is about how long he would last in the NFL too.

How much of an interview would Nix have to do with Marty? He could probably have a quick phone conversation with him and seal the deal. I will be very happy with Marty returning to the franchise that drafted him.
