5 games into the season and it seems to me more and more that Byrd was a perfect fit to Tampa 2.
Even last year when he had 9 interceptions, he was poor against the run. We all liked him because we thought atleast we have a playmaker in the secondary.
Well, it seems now that his playmaking ability might be more to do with the scheme. Now what we have is a guy who has shown no playmaking ability, is late to the tackles, no big hits and still poor against the run. Sadly, whitner has been better than byrd till date.
Given his good character and the fact he had 9 interceptions, was selected in the 2nd round and went to pro bowl I am confident we will get a 1st round pick and probably more.
So here is my plan.
#1 pick - QB or robert quinn, olb
1st round pick from byrd - akeem ayers, olb
#33 - LT/RT
rd 3 - FS, will hill, florida, or someone else
we would be set at qb, olb, OT, fs or 2 x olb, OT, fs. With 2 coverage linebackers who can pass rush, our defense will get a lot tighter and our OL will also be strong with no significant drop off at safety.
or we would have Luck, ayers, OT & FS from draft with no significant drop off at safety.
