I was always taught that before you state something negative to give at least one positive. Though it was a struggle to do so, I found one of note. Living in the Charlotte area, I have the luxury to listen to Sports talk of the south and get to see all the wonderful thing the Panthers do on the field. Jimmy Clausen, which many fans and media, complained about Buffalo not "stealing" in the 2nd round is looking...HORRIFIC. He makes Trent Edwards look like an SAT genius. Thank you for not drafting him.
As for this weekend, can someone tell me why Buffalo once again abandoned the run game? I know many will say, "But Ryan did well." True, but what did we not do well? How bout play defense. What is the best defense when your defense is weak? To control the ball on offense and limit the time they are on the field. Buffalo owned time of possession in the first quarter by establishing the run. Once it was working, we abandoned it. Love that strategy. <---sarcasm.
What I did like...Steve Johnson is looking like our best WR. I like Lee Evans, but other than a deep pass, he really does not have much to contribute. Steve Johnson is performing at what everyone was hoping for.
What I was frustrated with most...The fake punt. I was not opposed to it because it did not work, but think about it. What is more effective; Brian Moorman running at a position on the field and a time in the game when you could see it coming, or going for it with an offense that was moving the ball well throughout the day? Can't say I understand that call either. Now our team MVP may be banged up.
Hopefully, in future weeks, we'll have more positives than negatives, but it may take a while.
