Perspective, Rumblers!

This site can make one feel sea-sick sometimes.  The drastic sway in opinions regarding Bills personnel rocks back and forth like a flat bottom boat in an Eerie Lake storm.

I was one of the few staunch vocal Fitzpatrick supporters in a sea of Edwards/Brohm proponents last off season, so I feel like I have a right to make this stand:

The fact that anyone is saying the Bills should not take the top rated QB available next April is wack.

You saw on Web Rumblings...articles out there asking if Fitz is a guy to build a franchise around.  I guess once you live with a mediocre team, and they stay that way for long enough, this sort of delusional thought becomes OK?

What happened to the "Locker Sweepstakes?"  What happened to the endless stream of comments to the effect of "Cut Fitz, he stinks?"  Now it's all "I want to have Fitz's baby," and "everybody grow a Fitz beard." ;-)

What causes this?  The fact that Fitzpatrick is playing NFL quality football has Buffalo confused.  The Bills need to take the big risk and draft their favorite QB next year.  Fitzy can hold the spot for a season or so, but it's unwise to pile all eggs in such a basket.

I'm so happy Fitzpatrick proved he has some big games in him.  But don't fool yourselves that he's now the next Manning or Rivers.  The Bills need to find the guy for the future.  Ryan is the present, and we are all grateful to finally have a QB that gives some hope.  But don't let that deter you from the reality of this league.  Buffalo needs to find the QB of the future.

To play devil's advocate, what happens if they take Locker, Mallett, or Ponder, and Fitz continues to develop into the All-World Champion of the Universe?  Is that really a problem, or is it a huge asset?

Of course, the team NEEDS a true pass rush OLB (Moats looked promising last week,) a reliable MLB, a few more tough front 7 guys, and a few more good OLmen,  but I think those players can be found after Buffalo secures a blue chip rookie QB.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
