Lets give Cortez some love.

So coming into the 2010 NFL season under new coach Chan Gailey the Buffalo Bills like all teams under going a regime change, brought in a bunch of new coaches. And so far the one guy on the staff who deserves to be spot lighted is QB coach George Cortez.

Mr Cortez is a long time professional football coach. However this is first time coaching at the NFL level. He does have 17 years of CFL coaching experience and 13 years of coaching at the college football level. However even with his lack of NFL experience he has coached Doug Flutie,Jeff Garcia,Dave Dickinson, and Henry Burris to CFL stardom. On the college level this guy helped turn Kyle Boller into a first rounder. And he coached the Aaron Rodgers guy. He's pretty good.

Coming into the season many Bills fans expected him to work his guru magic on Trent Edwards. And in the pre season he did. Sadly though, once the regular season started Edwards reverted to norm, and found himself cut. Thankfully though ,another QB on the roster was able to take this veteran tutelage and elevate his game. I'm not going to rehash Fitz's stats for everyone again, I'm guessing you know them.

So while Gailey takes his fair share of beatings around here, and deservedly so sometimes.(George Edwards I'm thinking of you) He deserves credit for thinking outside of the box on this one, and hiring a guy who has been over looked on the NFL level for whatever reason. And with all due respect to AVP, it's been nice seeing competent QB play. And it's been nice having the first competent QB coach in Buffalo since the Sam Wyche days.

Ya'll know the drill, comment or I'll go all Achmed the dead terrorist. A-C-phlegm..................

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
