I'm tired of blabbing the about the passion and hunger of this mediocre team with their mediocre quarterback. Much more of the same out of me will only have the troubling effect of that "blah ba-blah ba-blah.... blah ba-blah ba- blech" homeless preacher trying to save our souls on a busy city street corner. And so for the next several minutes I will temporarily jump my own ship and test the waters that so many find warm and refreshing. Thrash me, bash me, say what you will.... but I'm going to do this my way.
As my wife (the Bengals fan) and I watched the first half of the game yesterday she became very sympathetic to me over the implosion of my team. She knows how much I love to string words together and form sentences, especially on this forum. She also knew that I would just want to crawl into a closet and hide from the storm that would surely come. I thought... "well what if I showed character and blogged a surrender flag, conceding that all of my points were wrong?". Not much character at all, I resolved, stand your ground until your dying breath Sean.
Then came the second half and I was amazed at the difference in performance... that "never quit" perseverance of this team I've cheered for for over 40 years. Surely I would be vindicated on this day. Folks would blog their support of the words that I sloppily drooled out in order to illustrate this teams heart and passion.
Indeed, I am a hopeless dreamer. Even at the age of 52 I have impossible scenario's of tremendous achievement blowing through my ripe and creative mind, only to realize that the real world denies my accusations of these wonderful scenarios.... especially when the stat's don't support them.
And so I will begin my journey on this post by turning my "touchy feelee" coat inside out so that I can ride that contemptuous boat so many seem to enjoy. As a fan of over 40 years I am going to use my "License" to complain... the one I also received for following a team that left me stranded in a desert with no oasis in sight... and not just for this recent decade, but decades before the Kelly era. Here goes... ***deep breath***

Fitz, I'm sorry buddy but you gotta go. You won't amount to anything around here, you're just too mediocre my friend. Don't get too excited about your recent wins because for one, they were against two teams with only 4 wins between them, and two, a depleted safety corps on Cincinnati pretty much handed you that comeback on a silver platter. A "real" quarterback would do what you did against a team that has NO injuries on defense.
Also big guy I think you should understand that you could never be considered elite. Those two interceptions you threw in the first half... well pathetic at best. If you were a "great" quarterback you would NOT have thrown those picks, and therefore would NOT have needed to comeback in the second half at all.
And what's with that comeback anyhow??? This certainly has nothing to do with the team and everything to do with YOUR job security. How selfish is that dude??? My god, don't you know that the most critical ingredient to this teams future resurgence is a number one draft pick??? Get over yourself.... and take Chan with you. He obviously thinks it's important to win these meaningless games as well. Sick!!!
Don't even try to use examples of successful teams around the league to prove your point. Elite quarterbacks STILL do not throw interceptions at the end of critical games. Make no mistake... Payton Manning will need to give up his seat on the elite bus due to his performance yesterday. He may even need to get off the bus all together as long as he doesn't try to exit at the Buffalo stop. We don't want his trashy type around here.
And don't talk to me about the Jerry Jones approach in Dallas. An owner who gives up the drivers seat to a high first round draft pick so that he can do what????........ recreate a "culture" of winning???? Are you kidding me???? C'MON MAN!!!! That old dude needs to be committed for thinking along those lines. But it must be a viral condition as I think Chan Gaily may have gotten that bug while he coached there. So sad.
Really my dear and desperate quarterback, what we need to do now that you've ruined everything by winning the last two games is to find something.... ANYTHING.... to make reparations. Vince Young is an option to at least one fan.... and probably more think that way than him. The very talented VY is capable of throwing more than just footballs out of the ballpark... and boy can the man run, and run, and run.... right off of the field. Sorry Fitz... you can't touch that.
But let's get serious. Andrew Luck would have been the future of a Bills legacy for an entire generation.... and you are systematically stealing that from us. You ridiculous need to win games this late in the season is repulsive. The stats PROVE that you are wallowing in mediocrity. Your "heart" and "passion" that elevates the play of everyone around you is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. You are a pied piper guiding the gullible down the path of another decade of sadness and despair. And your beard probably houses other poisonous insects and critters to be used at the most inappropriate time.
So please, for the love of all that is good in this world, give up. Leave this team and its fans alone. Take your evil winning attitude out of here.... we don't want it from the likes of you. Bring Chan and his entire staff along.... i hear Bill Parcels might be back in the market. Hell, I would even take back Wade now that I know HE didn't bench Doug Flutie.
If you really love this team as much as you say you do.... then just go away and take that stupid winning attitude to another team that needs it.... like perhaps the Dolphins.

Phew!!!! That was painful. But I did it. I must admit that there is a certain amount of security in taking this stand. It's almost like a warm "snuggie" blanket on a cold November morning when you team is down by three touchdowns. Very comforting indeed. And the math supports it all.
