Luck Mania

There is so much left unresolved that it makes it hard to do anything but hope that all is needed to bring Andrew Luck to the Bills.

Do we need the first pick to get him? Will the rest of the season unfold and get us the first pcik? Does Ryan Fitzpatrick continue to play well enough to keep us thiknking he may a good furture QB? Does Andrew Luck declare for the 2011 Draft? Will there be a 2011 season? Will there be a rookie cap for 2011?

There are so many ifs that it can make your head spin, but the only clear thing I see is that Andrew Luck is that once in five year span franchise type QB on the Peyton Manning/Phillip Rivers level. There guys do not come along very often and if when they do and you are in a close enough position to go after them I think that is what you do.

The frustrating thing here is that Fitzpatrick has everything you would want in a franchise QB except good arm strength. He is 80% of what you want, but that lack of arm strength really costs when he has to overthrow and it causes his passes to sail or he can't throw the ball far enough out in front of his WR's or it just throws of his accuracy. In any event, it is this one shortcoming that limits his upside.

Andrew Luck has everything Fitz has plus a very good arm and that makes him THE elite franchise QB prospect that every team is searching for.

Lets' hope the stars align and all we have to do is stay in our draft spot and write his name on our card and hand it in, but if that does not happen, what would you be willing to give up in order to land this player?

For the sake of this poll, lets assume the Bills win a couple more game and they finish with the 5th overal pick and the Panthers finish with the number one pick. Based on the NFL value chart that is used to trade draft picks the first pick is worth 3000 points and fifth pick is worth 1700 points so we would have to make up that 1300 points and possibly more depending on if there becomes a bidding war.

A middle first round pick is worth about 1000 points and a third round pick is in the 250 range so trading a 2012 1st and 2011 3rd might get it done. If this is what it took would you make that deal?
