OT Green released; Hubbard to practice squad - BuffaloBills.com
"Released from the 53-man roster late last week to address a shortage at the fullback position, wide receiver Paul Hubbard was added to the practice squad Tuesday. In addition the team signed LB Jammie Kirlew (pronounced JAY-me) and DL Kommonyan (Ko) Quaye to the team’s practice squad. Buffalo also placed LB John Russell on the practice squad/injured list. The club also released WR Montez Billings from the practice squad."
Bills unheralded talent shining - BuffaloBills.com
"I think that’s part of our identity, kind of the no names," said Fitzpatrick. "We’re all in it for each other and that’s fine with us. My job is to put them in a position to make plays. All the guys out there are pretty much the lower level guys in terms of draft status or national attention. We’re out there trying to make plays. Obviously we don’t get any hype or the national stories. I guess we’re the no names that are doing well."
Chan Gailey Monday Update (9:12) - BuffaloBills.com

Jackson cashes in on his carries - Bills & NFL - The Buffalo News
"It's definitely tough to get three running backs involved. It's a lot easier to do two," Jackson said. "Getting more touches, I think, is going to help any running back be able to put up some more numbers. The more touches you get the better you get in the game. [That] is how I've always felt about playing."
Bills release Green from IR - Bills & NFL - The Buffalo News
"Green was paid a $2 million roster bonus and a $100,000 workout bonus by the team, and was guaranteed to receive his full $1.5 million in base salary after going on injured reserve. That total could be lessened if Green and the team reached an injury settlement."
AFC East High Energy Player of the Week - AFC East Blog - ESPN

Beaver County Times: Buffalo's Chan gang shows improvement
"Absolutely do not — under any circumstance — underestimate the Buffalo Bills. That’s the message coach Mike Tomlin will repeat over and over again this week to his Steelers. They may have an AFC North Division showdown in Baltimore ahead of them on Dec. 5. But they dare not look past this Sunday’s game in Buffalo."
‘Stevie’ becomes Bills’ No. 1 WR - Wellsville, NY - Wellsville Daily Reporter
"The twist ending here is that Evans’ complimentary receiver may turn out to be Evans himself. Now, it’s Evans playing second fiddle to Johnson in a much-improved Bills’ offense."
Jairus Byrd struggling to follow up big rookie year | ProFootballTalk
"Byrd had nine picks a year ago, but a lot of times interceptions can be largely based on luck and overrated as a measure to determine effectiveness. Byrd just hasn’t been as effective or lucky following the groin surgery that ended his rookie year."

Paul Peck examined why the Bills were so successful Sunday in the second half.
Steelers can’t afford to overlook Buffalo Bills | Steelers Chronicle
"In what could be considered a classic trap game, the Buffalo Bills have nothing much to play for this season other than pride, and are winners of their last two games. The Pittsburgh Steelers could enter this Sunday’s game with their heads thinking of their match-up in two weeks with co-division leading Baltimore. But that would not be wise."

Pitoniak Impressed By Bills Win In Cincy - RochesterHomePage.net
"The top thing Scott Pitoniak noticed about the Bills victory over the Bengals was the comeback. It was something not expected from a 1-8 team. Scott also thinks Ryan Fitzpatrick might be OK as the starting quarterback past this season. The wide receivers are emerging, the defense is making plays and even a win over the Steelers isn't complete fantasy. All part of a chat with Thad Brown Bills fans should enjoy."

Bills fullback Corey McIntyre, tight end Shawn Nelson and linebacker Akin Ayodele were appreciative of the opportunity to spend time with the kids."

Hope you saved your receipt on your Merriman jersey | Buffalo Wins
"I don't fault the Bills for signing him as it totally made sense at the time. However, for 1.7 million dollars to equal out to a jersey at the pro shop, a press conference and 15 minutes of practice, sure doesn't look like a profitable business transaction."

Anyone catch "The Morning Drive' this morning around 745?
Ross Tucker (and the other guy) were talking abou the Bengals collapse when a caller called in and said “What about the Bills comback? all we’ve heard is the Bengals imploded… well what about the Bills exploding?”
They went on to say that they give Buffalo respect and all that and that sometimes its easier to talk about the team that implodes instead of the comeback…
They started talking about Fitz, Stevie and the Bills… and saying how the city of Buffalo doesnt nessicarily love the “Star” players as much as it loves the underdog/overachievers. And that got me thinking… and its true. Being from Buffalo and being a fan of Buffalo sports (Bills/Sabres) … I love the underdog because thats the kind of city we are. Not even in sports but Buffalo, NY as a whole… I love when something good happens to it, because it means that this “Small community” did something against the odds.
Point of the story. I love this team. I love Fitz, Stevie, Freddy, Donald Jones(congrats on the first TD), David Nelson… all these guys. They play their butts off and never give up. 2-8… dont care. This team is on the rise and its going to be sooooo sweet when we’re here for the turn-around.
Yes we play all our games at 1 in the afternoon... but Id still like to see "Lights Out!" 8-)

fyi about derek anderson
the year when derek anderson had a good year, here are his stats,
298/ 527 56.5%, 3,787 yds, 7.2 avg, 29 TD 19 INT, 14 sacks, 82.5 rating
the key number is his accuracy… his play was more like losman… bad accuracy but a gun slinger…
fitz’s accuracy is 59.3%… believe in it or not but there is a theory of 59%… fitz is more accurate and less of a slinger… he might end up being sucky but i think he is better than derek anderson… the comparison is unfair
I don’t think the comparison is unfair. Anderson had one solid season. His YPA was better than Fitz’s which coincides with his lower completion percentage. Anderson took more chances, sure. I’m more talking about guys having one solid year and falling off.

but fitz hasnt shown yet that he has fallen off
plus i always felt derek got a raw deal… he was in his 2nd year when he did what he did… he never had a good offensive coordinator to groom him at cleveland…. they draft brady quinn and showed they have no confidence in him… then his game spiralled out…
i honestly believe qb is more about grooming than what draft position you draft the player
by statcruncher on Nov 24, 2010 10:45 AM EST up reply actions
Derek Anderson didn’t get a raw deal. He started the next season and stunk.
The Chargers drafted Phillip Rivers 4th overall when Drew Brees was there. He responded by kicking butt and taking names. That’s best case scenario – We end up with Rivers and Brees.
Worse case is sticking with Fitz and he regresses. Then we got nobody. Not my favorite idea.

I totally see MRW’s point, but something else needs to be brought up – Fitzpatrick is putting up his numbers against a strong schedule this year. Anderson’s big year came against a soft schedule. If Fitzpatrick had a soft schedule this year, his numbers would likely be even better and the team would have more Ws.

He played well against the Ravens and Bears, yes. But the rest of the passing defenses he’s thrashed aren’t that great.
Patriots 31st
Jaguars 28th
Chiefs 25th
Lions 18th
Bengals 15th and without 3 of their starters in secondary

dude, this isn’t the first time we’ve been through this. when the browns drafted quinn, anderson had started exactly 3 games. anderson had his pro bowl season after they drafted quinn, and then came out and stunk up the joint after that.

i think vince’s work ethic and maturity are about on par with jamarcus, the only difference being that vince was better to begin with.

Just saw the play, Lombardi. Great, by the way. Didn’t know much about the guy. Toughness, discipline, self respect…
I love watching Chan bring those qualities to the Bills.
I’m about to nominate him for president of the United States!
Toughness and discipline.
This is a tough game for tough people.
Haha, a littel upset they took that off the intro for vids on BB.com.
