Ganther, 26, is a fifth-year pro out of Utah who most recently spent time with the Seattle Seahawks. A big-bodied back (5'9", 215) that does most of his best work on special teams, Ganther was released by Seattle twice this season, most recently on November 2. For his career, he has 71 carries, 260 yards and three touchdowns, all of which came in 2009 when he was with the Washington Redskins.
Buffalo does not have an available roster space, so when this signing becomes official, they'll need to let a player loose to make it happen. One would think that undrafted rookie free agent Andre Anderson would be the odd man out; he has been Buffalo's third tailback since the team traded Marshawn Lynch to Seattle on October 5. Anderson has not logged a carry this season, and more importantly, he has not had much of an impact as a specialist, either.
Again, this is not yet official, but it appears as if the Bills will announce that they've got a new running back by day's end.
