Bills OLB Arthur Moats Up For Pepsi NFL Rookie Of The Week
Arthur Moats is a pretty popular dude right now. He's getting a lot of publicity for ending Brett Favre's consecutive games played streak with a vicious hit in Week 14, and he should be getting more notoriety for a strong performance in the Buffalo Bills' 13-6 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
Moats' four-tackle performance, highlighted by a sack and strip of quarterback Jake Delhomme that set up a field goal, has earned him a nomination for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honor.
He's got stiff competition, as Buccaneers wideout Arrelious Benn (four catches, 122 yards), Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (five catches, 43 yards, TD), Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (16 carries, 65 yards, TD) and Cardinals quarterback John Skelton (15 of 37, 143 yards) are also up for the award.
Moats is going to get the sentimental vote this week from voters that are - how do we put this lightly? - pleased that Favre's streak has come to an end (and that his arm is apparently dead). I'd argue that of the five rookies up for the award, Moats had the highest-impact play of the bunch in terms of helping his team earn a win.
Vote for Moats here, Bills fans.

REMINDER
Keep voting for Meatball for the Pro Bowl!!
And since when does throwing under 50% for less than 150 yards get a guy nominated for anything?
The league should reward us with a compensatory 1st round pick for ending the Farve misery story. - wab2
definately plug the meatball
and don’t be afraid to add a few other votes for your favorite and somewhat deserving Bills players. Remember that many play off team players will pass on the pro bowl so even if we get players in the top five, we could have other representatives there. Donte Whitner, Freddy Jackson, Ryan Fitz, Poz etc….. We don’t have the record but we have guys that play their tails off till the end.
YOU ARE OUT of you kuku fufu mine craker laker Flaber baber FUNKI chunki brain. WE want to winn every year -- abayarde
agreed
I personally vote for Meatball, Donte, Poz, Stevie, Fitz, Wood and Levitre when I get on there. Probably should be voting for Fred too, I think I’ll start doing that. Only 6 more days left! We can’t fail Meatball!

Ya – this is good and all – but I wonder how he did the rest of the game. i try and watch specific players at times but overall i’d like to know how he’s playing including his bad plays…
South Park showed us the benefit of Captain Hindsight
That's a lighting issue with Favre's hand.
Combined with white balance issues with the camera. If his hand was actually that color, as a result of a hit to the shoulder and not bruising of the hand directly, he wouldn’t be at the game. He’d be in the hospital wondering why there was no blood flowing to his hand.
I seriously hope so.

Please, let's not call Moat's hit on Farve vicious.
Vicious implies malice, an intent to hurt. We don’t want to applaud or reward such play; we want the league to work to ban it. I thought the hit on Farve was clean, the only intent being to get there in time to disrupt the throw. Call it a crushing blow, an explosive hit — whatever, get out a thesaurus — but let’s leave ‘vicious’ to describe those hits that deserve a large fine or ejection, like head shots leading with the helmet.

an intent to hurt
I want my defenders to have intent to hurt. I get what your saying but I think its worth noting that intent to cause injury and intent to hurt are two totally different things. I think if you are making a clean tackle you are in your right in the game of football to try and knock a guy out of the game. Its part of the game. But intentionally going for a guys knee or head to do so is where it crosses the line into dirty

Moats is actually bigger than Harrison
all it takes is the right attitude and the drive, i think this kid might have it

Well, I’m no weakling but I think no matter how good my attitude is if I’m returning a kick Corto is going to ruin my life haha
But yea, your right, we seem to have a lot of guys living by this motto – Fitz, Fred, Moats, Meatball, Poz, Donte, Kelsay, Stevie, D. Nels, basically every receiver we have. Got to love the character on this team.

maybe, but Corto would somehow get a flag on the play
Yeah, these guys have heart and i really hope they have success.

Do not cross the Moat unless you want a serious ass whipping…
Looks like the Bills found a LB that plays with intensity and is extremely physical!! The other players will start feeding off of his emotion something that has been lacking since Spikes left.

I think it's too early to say we found our pass-rusher
but it’s gettin close. I’ve been watchin him get closer and closer to a sack every week. If he keeps improving at the pace he has been, he’ll be good!
Yep
He definitely has to start being accounted for.

and that is when we will really know how good he is....if he can still make plays even when being accounted for
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and

Good Point
Very good point, Hopefully we surround guy’s like Moats and KW with better pieces, then were onto something! Note I said KW and not the other nickname that you find offensive;)
