S George Wilson, an upcoming free agent, has not had any talks with the team regarding a contract extension. "I'm not mad that it hasn't happened," he said. "Talks during the season can be a bit of a distraction."

Can't help but think that this is a response to Donte's Tweets.

Maybe, but seems George’s comments are more amicable or at least neutral toward Bills brass (can’t type what rhymes with dix and begins with ch) than Dontes’.

I’m sure the CBS Sports guy just went around and asked all the to-be free agents about contracts after Whitner started complaining about his. I don’t think Wilson would be a guy that goes out of his way to say the Bills don’t want me.

Oh I know that, I was refering to a press response, not to Wilson. George is too classy to talk about negotiations publicly.

For me, Wilson
has been one the biggest disappointments. I don’t think he’s making near the impact as he did last year.
I’d hate to say this without looking up facts but I am pretty sure he has played less, alot less than lasts years productive and somewhat limited by playing time, role.

Forgot to add, did what ever was asked of him for a reasonable price, in a Fred Jackson type of path and still gets denied PT but when he plays he makes plays.

I, too, see him as a defensive Fred Jackson. Plus he has an awesome beard. Wilson is a keeper.

Well, that’s probably because he’s not playing. The Bills do have two starting safeties, after all. Wilson is also our leading special teams tackler. And on a team featuring Aaron Maybin and John McCargo, it’s frankly ridiculous to call Wilson a disappointment.

You realize you just mentioned AM in here, right? ;-)
But yes, those two would probably eat up all the disappointment cake at an awards festival.

Frankly, it’s ridiculous to say you can’t be disappointed in a player just because there are more disappointing players on the team.

You said “one of the biggest disappointments,” which I interpreted as you ranking Wilson up there with the likes of Maybin and McCargo.

Uh, no. But the fact that you were expecting Wilson to contribute to the defense, when he was an obvious backup, is probably a problem, too. Dude’s our leading special teams tackler, a special teams captain, and can play both safety positions. What the hell more do you want out of the guy?

Being a special teams captain and having the ability to play both safety positions aren’t contributions. So I’d want him to DO a whole hell of a lot more than those things. Should we count that he’s a good person to have in the community as a reason the Bills should be talking to him about a contract?
I would have no problem if they let him go
If George Wilson was half as good as his mouth, he would be an All-Pro. He needs to worry more about playing and less about getting a quote in the paper
seriously?
I’ve always had the opinion that George was a class act. His charitable work aside, I never hear him running his mouth or speaking out of turn.
I’d like to see him stay to be honest. He hasn’t been afforded the opportunities this year as last and he’s valuable on ST.

Bingo!
He is a key role player and respected by his team mates. That’s why he has the “C” on his jersey.

GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!
Yes, I am a Buckeye and yes I run my mouth. Im not worried about Bobby Petrino, He is the gutless. Anybody who leaves his team and does not even have the stones to tell them to their face is a scumbag in my opinion.
that still doesnt stop him from whooping buckeye butt

How many quotes in the paper has he had this year? Like, three?

I can’t help but think he’s confusing Whitner with Wilson. This has to be the only explanation here. I mean, George Wilson being called out here?!

Well he is a Buckeye.
So he’s probably protecting his own and anytime Whitner says anything it becomes “what’s that Wilson?”

I do recall that he almost broke his arm patting himself on the back after the Bengals game. He was quick to point out that he was one of the guys who delivered a motivational half time speech. It must have been a rousing speech from 2nd stringer. I also believe his nickname is ‘the senator’ because he is always trying to deliver the right quote for the paper.
Yes. That's why.

I do recall that he almost broke his arm patting himself on the back after the Bengals game.
“Obviously guys were upset at halftime — at the refs, at the way we were playing as a team,” said Bills safety George Wilson. “Frustration was boiling over at halftime. Guys were complaining. A few guys, including myself, said forget the first half. We can’t worry about the refs. We have to overcome any adversity.”
Wow, that is an arm breaking quote. I mean, I can’t believe someone would kiss their own ass like that. What he should have said was.
“Do I expect us to make the playoffs?” he says. “I’m guaranteeing it.”
or
My future here :-(
or he could offer Super Bowl tickets to someone once he gets 10,000 people to follow him and then change the rules after so that no one wins. That’s how a wallflower does it!
It must have been a rousing speech from 2nd stringer.
A 2nd stringer who is a captain. A captain who was voted into that position by his teammates. I really hate it when captains captain.

Im not defending Whitner. I dont like wilson. And yeah he is a captain, a special teams captain. Hes not good enough to start on a bottom ranked defense. I dont even think hes that good on special teams either. I would take Wendling over Wilson any day of the week on special teams. Also, he can captain away all he wants but why make it a point to let everyone know about it…“A few guys including myself”
I dont like wilson.
We’ve officially reached the scoop of the whole situation. You don’t like him, so you’re completely unreasonable about him. We get it.

Just b/c I dont like someone does not make me unreasonable. There are a lot of players that I do not like but I will admit that they are good players. In my opinion, George Wilson is not a good player. He is second string on a pretty bad defense.
It takes an awful lot for me to call someone’s reasoning pathetic, but this is just about the worst reasoning I have seen on this board all season. Sorry, dude, BG nailed you to the wall. For some incomprehensible reason, you don’t like Wilson, so you trash him with ridiculous comments.
by thefourwinds on Dec 17, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions
Really?
What is pathetic about my reasoning? Please tell me why George Wilson is a good player. Im sorry, but if he gets let go after the season its sure as heck not going to be national news because HES NOT THAT GOOD. I know its presumptuous, but Im pretty sure people are not going to be on their respective blogs lobbying for their team to pick up George Wilson if he does not get resigned by the Bills
Please tell me why George Wilson is a good player.
We’re still waiting for you to tell us why he’s bad!
No one here is saying that George Wilson is some all-world safety, by the way. Clearly, he isn’t.

Oh, yes, you’ve already shown how sound your reasoning is:
I also believe his nickname is ‘the senator’ because he is always trying to deliver the right quote for the paper.
I think it’s slightly more likely that it’s because he shares a name with a former US Senator.
