Bills vs. Jets: Ryan Fitzpatrick Listed As Questionable
After not practicing for a third straight day this week, the Buffalo Bills have officially listed starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick as questionable for Sunday's season finale at the New York Jets.
Per WGR 550, head coach Chan Gailey is still holding out hope that Fitzpatrick can finish out the season on the playing field.
"We're going to list him as questionable going in to the game," Gailey told reporters Friday. "If he can get ready, we'll have him out there."
Should Fitzpatrick not be available, the team will turn to Brian Brohm and his one career start at quarterback.
Buffalo will only have three healthy receivers available on game day, as well, as the Bills officially ruled rookie receivers David Nelson and Donald Jones out of Sunday's contest. Stevie Johnson, Naaman Roosevelt and Paul Hubbard are the only healthy receivers on the active roster - unless the team makes another roster move prior to Sunday's kickoff.
Geoff Hangartner, who has missed Buffalo's last three games with a knee injury, is not listed on the injury report, and will be available on Sunday - though in what capacity, we're not yet sure. Kyle Williams, Torell Troup, Terrence McGee, Chris Kelsay, Demetrius Bell, Jon Corto and Mike Balogun are all listed as probable.

With Geoff Hangartner available
I would run the snot out of the ball. It may hurt a little bit but it could hurt the Jets even more. I do wonder if Hangartner will see time at guard.

I've been amazed he lasted this long.
One of the reasons why I am so high on him is his ability to prolong plays in attemp to move the ball. He has taken a pounding this year. The Detroit Lions game he took a massive beating. These things are often overlooked and to be expected, but he perservered and bcause of that we have been able to see what players like Stevie and Neslson, Jones can do. Along with Parrish.

Fitz not playing would really help us lose
The game means nothing… they’ve proven their point that they aren’t as bad as the 0-8 start… losing gives us at least the 3rd pick, maybe #2, whereas a win could drop us to 8. A Huge drop
disagree,
Maybe if the jets were actually playing for something but this will be like the win over the cults last year. No thanks, ill take the draft position.

losing in this situation is not "bad"
you can be a fan and still look towards the future. for a team in full rebuilding mode, having a higher pick is only a good things, not a bad one. we know what this team is, and we certainly know what fitz is capable of, so why not give the other kids a try. if they win, we can all see how good they are, if they lose, then no big deal, and at least we all saw where their talent (or lack of) was.

This has been covered about 100 times on BR, but winning is better for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is that the young players on the team need to win so that they get a feel for it. Building a “winning culture” produces more wins, moreso than moving up a few draft spots.
In your opinion
You may think winning is better, but there are tons of reasons to think losing wouldn’t be bad. Saying they need to win in order to start a culture of winning when they are 4-11 doesn’t hold much water. What difference is there between 5-11 or 4-12? I only buy that if it’s possible to be 8-8 and not 7-9. They know how to win, they have done it multiple times this year, it’s almost ridiculus to think they have to beat the jets in order to finally know what it feels like…..
Besides, I never said I wish that they lose, I just said play the young kids and who cares I’d they win.

Tim Graham said they could go from 2 all the way to 9...
so yes, I would also ay that losing isn’t all that bad.

why risk fitzy getting more hurt
in a meaningless game? might as well play all the young kids and see what they got. hell throw brown in there. if we win, we get a better draft pick? yay? no. put all the young guys out there and evaluate.

Agree
Fitz is starter, why risk further injury. Time for Brohm to “showcase” how he fits in going forward! Perfect opportunity…

You've FINALLY sold me :P
I’m not all that optimistic about Brohm, though. Even if he does showcase himself well, is it going to have any effect on Chan’s mindset? He’s pretty clearly set on Fitz, and I don’t know if that’s because he really likes what Ryan can do (which to be fair is possible, he has a head on his shoulders and he’s a gamer, just doesn’t have the best mechanics… then again, like I said, neither does Tebow, even last Sunday, but the ball didn’t seem to care then), or Brohm has fully failed to impress him in practice. Either way, his mind is made up.

I think evaluating talent is more important than draft position.
The Bills have a much better team than their record indicates. When you guys were 0-8 I was thinking this is the best effin 0-8 team I have ever seen. Evaluating talent in game situations will be critical to knowing what your priorities are in the draft. That turns a “meaningless” game into quite an important one. I’m going to the game tomorrow and I hope the Jets do the same thing with some of our young guys. Good luck and here’s hoping no one gets injured on either team.
