Hangartner, Urbik out at least two weeks - BuffaloBills.com
"We won’t have them this week at all for sure," said Gailey. "Probably a couple of weeks on both of them, but we’ve got a chance to have both of them maybe for the last couple of games. We’re not sure. We’re going to wait until Tuesday or the next day to really see."
Add Spiller to the list of poor picks by Bills - Jerry Sullivan - The Buffalo News
"I know it's premature to label Spiller a bust. He's played 10 games in the NFL. He was thrown into a tough situation in camp. But three-quarters of the way into his rookie year, it's fair to say that Spiller has been a disappointment."

Inside The Bills | Bills will add a lineman "
"The centers that were in training camp for the Bills in the summer that are no longer with the team are undrafted rookie Sean Allen and free agent Christian Gaddis. They would at least have knowledge of Buffalo’s system, but three months have passed since the end of camp so it’s hard to determine if there would be interest there."

and his remarks are more pointed in light of the state of the OL. Instead of building a wall in the offseason, the Bills have chosen to buy sandbags almost weekly to “shore up” their oversight.
Countless articles were written on BR showing depth charts and the glaring lack thereof on the OL. What boggles the mind (once again) is that WE saw it yet they were, again, “smarter” than we were.
Spiller is a catch 22. We took him vs. an OL man and he (or Fred) can’t run without an OL. This one situation is why I cannot “approve” of Nix’s actions to date(don’t even mention Merriman).
Spiller is a disappointment because he was set up to be one. An all too common problem with the Bills.
What we call our despair is often only the painful eagerness of unfed hope.

The biggest problem for me is that in similar situations Fred Jackson gets it done while Spiller gets none. They appear to have drafted a player the team was not set up to utilize. I can’t help but think in a Shanahan-style offenese, Spiller might be the dynamic player we saw in college.

You likely know I love me some F-Jax running, but would you be content drafting a RB 9th who compares to Fred Jackson?

I think the argument he makes could be stronger.
He lists all the running backs taken in lower rounds, while neglecting to mention hardly any of them got on the field their rookie seasons.
However, I do agree with the idea of generally avoiding using high picks on running backs. In the first round, defensive players seem to be much better investments (recent Bills draft history nonwithstanding).
career rushing high with 35 yards
He has touched the ball 68 times from scrimmage and 16 have gone for negative yardage.
wow..
and yet people will still get on here and yell about how much of a jerk sullivan is
Well he is.
Just because he wrote one good article that doesn’t mean he’s not. (And yes, he’s probably written a couple of others.)

unfortunately, that’s where this site gets me in trouble. i wasn’t going to use jerk (because i didn’t really mean jerk) but i didn’t want the comment to get moderated lol

Don't hate Sullivan.
Don’t invest in hating period.
But as a counterpoint I would like to add it is too early to speculate, or even state somewhat definitively, whether a rookie is a bust or the next best thing since sliced bread. Sure we would like to have any/all draft picks contribute mightily. I also acknowledge that as a overall 9th pick in the draft, I, and I’m sure most Bills fans, expected much more out of Spiller. But we all know football is a team game and the O-Line has deficiencies that have been well documented. Fred Jackson’s talents and running style make him more capable of producing better results with this line than Spiller’s. I (hopefully) expect that in a year or two our O-line will be better and then see what Spiller can do.
I do feel disappointed in the results so far with Spiller. Please don’t reply with the “Why are you in Spiller’s corner?” or such. I wanted him to be a factor in our games as much as any of you. Just wanted to give the part of the story I feel was left out.

dont wanna be a spiller apologist
Honestly I don’t know, but who else could we of taken in the draft on the line? They didn’t like the guys after the two they liked were taken.
So spiller isn’t chris johnson… Yet? I mean you gotta figure we would have this same piss poor result if we had taken a tackle in the first.
The line has had one or two horrible games and the name we kept swearin at was cornell green. Bell has one horrendous game.
If we were to do it again I’d say spiller at 9 or a phenomenal playmaker at OLB or d end. I know the play a lot of 4 3 but where are all the people who thought kyle williams was too small to play nose??
This teams a work in progress, spiller I get frustrated with because he isn’t north and south as much as he needs. The holes he had in college close by the time he gets to it in the nfl. He needs to learn and he will

Definately premature to put Spiller on that list!
One, you don’t know what they’re asking him to do as far as Offense goes. It’s not like he’s seeing 20 carries a game. Two, he’s a rookie, the NFL game doesn’t just come to most rookies, they have to experience it and learn from it before they start to make an impact. Very few rookies have a huge impact. What has Best done? Not much more than Spiller, and I think he’s been given more opportunities, at least early. Comparison’s to Danny Woodhead are not fair either. Last time I checked Spiller played for the Bills, not the team of the decade, the NE Patriots. You could put a lot of rookies on that offense and they’d flourish because it’s a very veteran group. Their O-line is solid, they have veteran receivers, and this guy named Tom Brady. When Tom Brady is your QB you get soft fronts, when Ryan Fitzpatrick is your QB, you get 9 in the box. I’m just saying, this is a little ridiculous to be discussing. If Spiller is not contributing heavily to the Offense next year then people can start talking, but not now. Not in his rookie year, with this team in it’s current state. Someone is just looking for a story that’s not there!

I thought
watching Moats crush Favre was the highlight of the week, almost as good as the picture of favre laying on his back with a NE patriot on top of him, he looked like he saw a ghost. Not that I dont realize what a great QB favre WAS but he couldn’t let go because He thinks he is some kind of football god, and no one is bigger than the game so he deserves whatever licks he gets
