Okay, I realize this probably won't happen, but this is my dream so let me have my fun. I would make the following trades predraft:
Whitner to Cleveland for their 4th rounder ( I really like Wilson as our SS next to Byrd)
Kyle Williams to Tampa for their 3rd rounder
Marshawn to SD for their 2nd rounder
Whitner and Lynch are in the last year of their contracts and still have value. We should get value for them while we can. I love Williams but he doesn't fit into our new scheme and we should trade him now to get max value for him.
Then, along with several other people, I'd try to move down from 9 to 15 with the Giants and pick up picks 15, 76 and 112 from them.
That would leave us with 9 picks in the first 4 rounds. I believe that is the way we should build this team. Here is how I'd use those 9 picks:
15. Bulaga LT (or Dan Williams NT)
41. Brandon Spikes ILB
60. Sergio Kindle OLB
67. Torrell Troup DT (or Veldheer or Saffold LT if we take Williams in the 1st)
72. Lamarr Houston DE
76. Dan Lefevour or Jevan Snead QB
102. Ed Dickson TE
104. Legarrate Blount RB
112. Ciron Black or Jake Fox RT
I think this would infuse us with young talent at critical positions. Combined with the young talent already on the roster, I think we'd be positioned for long-term success as an organization.
I believe this is somewhat realistic as to what value we could get in trading those players and who we could select with those picks. I certainly don't expect OBD to be THIS active, but maybe I will be pleasantly surprised (for once).
Fire away, but be gentle.
