Schobel roster bonus and a couple other things
I am knew posting here so please don't smash me. I was just wondering if anyone else saw the Schobel is due a 2 million dollar roster bonus on March 9th? I think by then we might have a good idea of wether he is staying or going. Obviously if it gets paid to him I do not see Schobel as the type of player to take it and then have to pay it back because he wants to retire. I doubt it will be pushed back without Schobel leaning towards a yes to coming back as well. I am just saying, if anything is going to happen with him, we should know by March 9th.
Now onto a possible trade scenario. With the retirement of LT in San Diego, does anyone think they possibly become a trade partner for Marshawn Lynch if he in fact winds up on the block? The draft this year is kind of weak on running back overall. Some mocks I have seen have San Diego taking a RB in round two. I think that could definetely be worthy of a Lynch trade. Does anyone know if Nix has good ties in San Diego? I am assuming it would make sense to take a worthy running back with not a lot of tread on the tires for a 2nd rounder, versus the lack of talent available.
I also just want to toss my two cents in about Tebow. I have always despised him, never thought he was that good of a quarterback. Yes he was a winner, but mechanics wise and the system he was in at Florida I just never saw him as an NFL caliber QB. However...I was watching ESPN the other day and saw the video of how he has changed his release. If you haven't had a chance to check out the video I reccommend you try and find it. I will give him credit and say that he is putting the work to improve his mechanics as much as some have you have said he would. Now granted I wouldn't mind just throwing our current QB's on the roster into a battle and seeing what Chan can do with them while we build the O-Line and defensive front seven. However if Tebow is there in the third round, I wouldn't mind taking a shot at him there.
Well thanks for reading and I will be looking forward to seeing the responses.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

LT didn’t retire. He was released. Welcome to the blog.
Nix left San Diego after they fired his close friend, Marty Schottenheimer. He worked in their scouting dept. for 8 years or something like that. The strongest ties of any organization are with teh Chargers.

Is that really true?
Nix left San Diego after they fired his close friend, Marty Schottenheimer.
He was a part of two more drafts in SD after Marty was fired.

"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."
When Schottenheimer was fired a rift developed between Nix and the guy who fired him, AJ Smith. Is that such a reach?

A new joe! That’s good news, I was getting tired of the other Joe.
I am knew posting here so please don’t smash me
Dude, it’s spelled “new”. And the correct terminology is “flame”, not smash. We’re not the Hulk! UR stupid and should never come back!!! [that was a joke, welcome to the blog]
I think you’re right about Schobel. I wouldn’t rule out a trade if he takes the bonus, but I would rule out a trade for a mediocre pick. If Buffalo could somehow get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Schobel, than it would be worth paying the 2 mil bonus. But if he’s just a declining player who doesn’t have much value, I can’t imagine Buffalo flipping Schobel for a 5th rounder after paying him a 2 mil bonus. I think he’ll keep playing and he’ll have a solid year here in Buffalo in the 3-4.
I kind of hope Buffalo trades Marshawn to SD. I know a lot of people think he’s this great RB, but the league has like 30 great running backs in it. He’s an average player, was drastically outperformed by Jackson last year and RBs aren’t tough to find in the middle rounds of the draft. You’re right that it’s not a great year for RBs this year, but I’d happily pair a mediocre FA with Lynch and grab a guy next year. Maybe Buffalo could find a specialist (short yardage or big play change of pace guy) in the late rounds this year too.
My biggest concern over Tebow is his ability to drop back and read a defense. The best QBs in the league drop, read and throw. His mechanics need some work, but those are learnable with practice. Some guys never figure out how to read a defense and I’m not sure that Tebow’s intangibles make him much more likely to grow that skill than any other spread option QB.
I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute

yeah....me to...that guy is a serious D-bag, he makes Richie I. look like a choir boy
If we end up with Vick, T.O., Richie I., and Porter….that is really pushing the dbag density limit for one team.
was that a kaisertown joke? nice!!! rec’d

I want Lynch back.
But if we could get a 2nd round pick for him, I think I just became quite a bit more interested. And I try to not “fall in love” with any running backs, because besides the top, special backs (CJ, AP, Charles, DeAngelo Williams, maybe a few others) they are a dime a dozen.
And with Schobel, I dont see him back. I dont think he retires but instead I think we trade him. If we could get a 3rd/6th or 4th for him I would take it, same thing we Kyle Williams, probably a 4th. I really like the idea of trading players for draft picks, especially with this years draft. All those extra picks will help our transition to the 3-4, along with building up our O-line.
LT – wont come here. He said he wants a chance to win a Championship and go to team with “Winning QB.” That certainly isnt us in the next few years that he’ll be able to play. I was always an LT fan and I wouldnt mind him here, but not with the $$$$$$ he wants… My first thought is that he goes to Philly, but I wouldnt be shocked if he ended up in GB either. For some reason I can see them going after him.

I would not be excited about a 4th rounder for Kyle Williams. The guys is just entering his prime. He may not be a tight fit for the 3-4, but he should have some solid value to a 4-3 team and I would hope we could get an early-mid 3rd for him. If not, it’s probably not worth letting him leave.
To a lesser degree, I’m not psyched about letting Lynch go. We got him for a first and we’d be letting him go for a second. Ignoring the fact that we probably CAN’T get a second for him, I’m not sure leaving ourselves with one veteran RB on the roster is a good plan, especially with unsettled situations on the OL and QB fronts.

Re Lynch: If we were offered a 2nd for him I would be interested in the trade, but I think Lynch is best served staying on the team. If we do trade him then a FA would be the way to go (not LT or BWest) with looks at later round picks this year or round 1 or 2 next year. So to recap lol, I want Lynch back… but Id be interested for a 2nd.
Re Williams: A 3rd would be nice for him but I think a 4th is probably more realistic, and I would like him back because I like the way he plays, but if he doesnt fit the 3-4 I dont want him. I know that may sound dumb… but we’re not winning it all next year. And I dont want to rebuilding for another decade. Any player that doesnt fit into our scheme, ship em out to get draft picks to build this team up faster.

Why in the world would San Diego give a 2nd round pick for Lynch? Tons of the trade proposals around here are so one-sided, they are laughable.
And kaisertown! I expect that if you are going to correct the grammar of the poster, you would keep your story straight. :-)

a.k.a. Undee
especially when there are tons of talented RB's in the draft they could get AFTER the 2nd round.

and obviously I disagree with Kaiser in his assessment about the talent in the middle rounds.
there’s plenty of talent there.

Call me Kooky, but I think Lynch is sitting at home....
… knitting a sweater, working out, and staying out of trouble. He wants to have a great year. And I have a feeling that he will.
I hope.
I hope he doesn’t rain on my optimistic view.
