Eagles add Dick Jauron as DBs coach | ProFootballTalk.com
"In Philadelphia, Jauron will be charged with coaching up a pass defense that ranked No. 17 overall in 2009. The Eagles have a pair of top-flight cornerbacks in Sheldon Brown and Asante Samuel, as well as a reliable strong safety in Quintin Mikell. Free safety has been a trouble spot."

Gleason: Coming home is special for DeHaven : The Buffalo News
"I'm really looking forward to it," DeHaven said. "I'm looking forward to getting back there and seeing a hockey game. [The Sabres] are still my team. That never changed when I left. If I can watch a little hockey and have a Ted's hot dog, I'm excited."

Drunk driver gets nine years for hitting seven after Bills game : The Buffalo News
"A tearful Brandon W. McLean was sentenced today to nine years in prison for drunken and drug-impaired driving that injured seven people after a Buffalo Bills game four months ago." The incident occurred after the Bills 6-3 loss to the Browns.

Coaching News
Gailey radio appearance – Inside The Bills

Bills head coach Chan Gailey will be appearing on the air in Western New York Tuesday afternoon. Coach Gailey is scheduled to appear on WHTK 1280 AM in Rochester at 3:20 PM this afternoon (Tuesday). You can listen live at http://whtk.com/main.html. It appears to be part of the John Ditullo show.

Tasker likes talent DeHaven inherits - BuffaloBills.com
"The players will feel well prepared for their opponents under Bruce," said Tasker. "He’s a smart schemer, and sharp with a game plan. There were times where we just manhandled opponents because he had a better game plan and we were better prepared and he had us ready for everything that they did."

Kevin Steele will not be Bills’ defensive coordinator : Buffalo Sports Daily
"Steele almost became the University of Tennessee last month to become their defensive coordinator but unexpectedly pulled his name out to return to Clemson. By coincidence Steele changed his mind on the exact same day Chan Gailey became the Buffalo Bills head coach. It led to growing speculation Steele could be Gailey’s choice to run the defense. Not only is Steele not going to be the Bills next defensive coordinator, but according to him he was never contacted by the Bills organization at all."

Jauron hired by Eagles
Report: Jauron hired – Inside The Bills

"Jauron worked with Eagles coach Andy Reid in Green Bay on Mike Holmgren’s staff (1992-94) and becomes the latest member of Buffalo’s former coaching staff to catch on with another team this offseason. Jauron replaces Brian Stewart, who left the Eagles to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Houston."

Twitter / Sal Maiorana
Quite a come down for Dick Jauron. From head coach of Bills to DBs coach of Eagles per report. Well, then again, maybe not such a come down

Twitter / Scout.com's Adam Caplan
One of the best at coaching that position. RT @Mtrible: @caplannfl how much of an improvement is jauron? or how much of one could he be?

Twitter / Peter King
Strange story of the day: Eagles hire Jauron to coach DBs. I hear he tried for the Princeton head-coaching job and they went elsewhere. Odd.

BillBoard: Jauron landing softly
"This saves the Bills a little bit of money. The Bills still are believed to owe Jauron $3 million for each of the next two years. They now can subtract from that total whatever he's making with the Eagles, which might be in the $300,000 range per year."

Jauron reunites with Peters in Philly - AFC East Blog - ESPN
"The move puts Jauron in the same colors as former Bills left tackle Jason Peters, whose controversial offseason trade coupled with the Bills' reluctance to acquire an adequate replacement played a significant role in their offense's failures. Peters forced his way off the team through a contract standoff. He went to his third Pro Bowl this year. The Bills' offensive line was a jumble of inexperience and injuries."

Player News
Moorman credits good coaching – Inside The Bills

Bills punter Brian Moorman, who was named to the league’s All-Decade Team made sure to credit his coaches for his success. "That’s part of the reason why I was chosen," said Moorman. "I had good coaching the last nine seasons in Danny (Smith) and Bobby (April)."

Pro-football-reference.com blog " Blog Archive " All-decade team of the ’00s announced
"While the Chargers' Mike Scifres had another great season in '09, I'm happy with the selection of Moorman. He's been a hidden gem for years for the Bills, and while Saurbrun has been out of the league for a couple of seasons, Moorman set a career high in yards per punt in '09."

Check out the nominees and vote for your favorite. Lee Evans, Geoff Hangartner, Fred Jackson, and Terrell Owens are your choices.

Terre Haute News - TribStar.com - Colts coaches Reich, Metzelaars have been here before
"Frank Reich and Pete Metzelaars know plenty about playing in the Super Bowl. Reich and Metzelaars — both assistant coaches for the Indianapolis Colts — were key members of the Buffalo Bills roster when the team played in four consecutive Super Bowl games (1991, Super Bowl XXV; 1992, Super Bowl XXVI; 1993, Super Bowl XXVII; and 1994, Super Bowl XXVIII)."

Michael Vick
Vick to Buffalo… Could it work? : Buffalo Sports Daily

Patrick Moran breaks down the positives and negatives of bringing in the Eagles QB.

Vick assured he’ll be traded – Inside The Bills
"Eagles QB Michael Vick has been given assurances by Philadelphia head coach Andy Reid that he will be traded before the NFL Draft. That according to the Philadelphia Daily News. The Philadelphia Daily News suspects Vick could fetch a fourth-round pick."

Eagles now to keep Vick? – Inside The Bills
After numerous reports that the Eagles have all but assured Vick that he will be traded so he has a chance to start somewhere else, now NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi is reporting that the Eagles may keep Vick along with the other two QBs in 2010. It sounds like a desperate attempt to drive up Vick’s trade value.

2010 NFL Draft
Buffalo Bills can't pass on Jimmy Clausen | Democrat and Chronicle

"The Buffalo Bills have the No. 9 overall pick in the NFL draft on April 22, and if they're fortunate, they'll have the opportunity to select Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen. If he's available, and the Bills ignore him, it would be a huge mistake."

It's Texas vs. The Nation week - Mocking The Draft

It’s a great hire by the Eagles. Just because he didn’t succeed as a head coach in Buffalo, doesn’t mean he’s not cut out to coach defense. I find it hard to believe he only landed as a DB coach. I thought he make it as DC somewhere.

Why???

He sucked in last gig as a defensive coordinator. The real question is how did his work in Detroit earn him a promotion in Buffalo?

Classic “Deer in the headlights” look…

I have no doubt that DJ will excel as a DB coach for Philly. Good for them.

I wonder how Jason Peters feels about the hire?

Yeah that is great

I think he is afraid the guy in the back is going to give him a “nougie” next.

Love the DeHaven comment that he couldn’t root for the Bills the first year after being fired, then rooted for them after. I assume he was alluding to Wade getting fired after the next season.

Somebody posted yesterday that none of the assistants being hired excited them, after reading that article how can you not be fired up to have DeHaven back? The guy WANTS to be here and has something to prove.

Also, that guys reasoning in the Clausen article seems to be
1. The Bills need a QB
2. Clausen is a QB
3. The Bills are “due” a good QB
3. ????
4. PROFIT

Yeah Bob Matthews doesn’t usually provide any hard-hitting analysis. Generally he provides unsubstantiated opinions.

Brian moorman, classy as always. Lets be honest, the coaches don’t have too much to do with his punting.

Tasker likes the DeHaven hire, K

Pretty strong endorsement from one of the great special teamers in league history.

im wondering if there was any truth to that twitter King said about Jauron and Princeton.......

or if that was a joke?

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. - Peter Gibbons

King doesn’t usually joke. The job was open and Jauron is an alumn. They hired a different alumn with much more limited experience.

Jauron’s a Yalie. Would going to Princeton make him a traitor? How do they dole out punishment in the Ivy League?

If we end up with Vick, T.O., Richie I., and Porter….that is really pushing the dbag density limit for one team.

Does anyone else think it looks like

Maybe Eric Wood (i think that’s him in the background) screwed Jauron on a drug deal, and now Dick is walking away as his henchmen take care of the problem.

(I just watched 24 and my mind is racing.)

...so I guess now I root for chan gailey...

Regarding my favorite Irish-man named like a pickle

I kind of managed to sell myself on the Vick/Tebow concept (that is, build team to work with Vick and train up Tebow to slot right in there in two or three years), but I still think that Clausen would be the best possible fit… if one could somehow get a decent LT in the second round or via a trade, that is. Because it’d take luck for Clausen to slip far enough to not have to trade up, from what I can tell.
Still, he’s a pro-style QB from a high-profile school, he seems to be good under pressure, and he’s spent three years in Buffalo-style weather. If he’s available, no way Nix and Gailey don’t pull the trigger.
