Calling all NOTAs
Brian's recent post about available QBs raised the question of the value (or lack thereof) of the NOTA option. And, assuming the NOTAs are gravitating to one of the current QBs, i.e. Edwards, Fitz, or Brohm, the issue came up of which one you would prefer. Here's another poll.
Given only these 3, who would you like to see start in '10? There is no NOTA option! Pick one and state your case in the comments, if so desired.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Brohm
Let’s see what he’s got and really he can’t be that much worse than Edwards or Fitpatrick, right?
Never confuse movement with action.

The guy who performs the best through OTAs, training camp, and the preseason. I want the guy that works best with Chan and shows he’s the best option to win.

I agree with you completely.... but he made us make a choice.
So I chose Brohm. Why not?
We know that Fitzy is not a franchise QB and we also know Trent is shell-shocked and lost the respect of the team.
Start Brohm, let him sink or swim. If he swims, we can keep building the team in the 2011 draft. If he sinks, our record will suck, then next year we get our boy.

where’s my choice? just let the one’s we got duel for the job. why does this have to be so complicated?
most of my posts get deleted :(
i would bet that he has a good showing in camp
No way it is Fitz though, he just does not have it, good back up though

I actually hope he's gone...
good back up though
I want the backup to be TE, since I voted for Brohm…

Let Edwards and Brohm battle it out
Winner in camp and preseason gets the start, loser goes to 3rd string or gets cut, cause FItz is a proven solid backup.
that's about right
I voted Brohm… because I want him to redeem himself after a poor stint at Green Bay, and after the way he came to the Bills, that atlanta game wasn’t half bad. I want a good QB, any one of these guys, but it’s Brohm’s Bills jersey that is the least stained with doo-doo

once with Joe Dufek…as I recall his golf game was about as good as his QB play.
"huge, big, fast, nasty...all those terms"
I went with Brohm
He has the most upside of the three, and has not taken the physical and mental damage that Edwards has. Also, I don’t like the fact that Edwards lost the team last year. If Edwards can earn their trust and respect back, then fine, but if I was a betting man (and I am not…hahahhahahaha) I would put my money on Brohm.

Startled Me
I read your headline and for a second I thought you dated him. That would’a been a different perspective!! :)
Brohm and Edwards battle it out for supreme mediocrity...
I actually really liked Brohm coming out of college, and I think the GB stint will turn out to be our anomaly. This guy has every tangible of a frachise signal caller. He was a great leader and a men among boys (albeit in a suspect conference), but he still produced at the level you would expect of a player of his sizeable abilities. He’s supposedly, based on what I’ve read, a film/study rat and has a considerable chip on his shoulder. What’s really not to like other than the unknown factor?
Obviously we all have to see it on the field more than just one start against a playoff caliber team behind the sorriest excuse for an OL in the league at the time. I saw a guy who made some pretty impressive throws in the face of constant harrassment by the opposing defense. He had less than half a week to get ready for his first NFL start. Plus he had TO phoning it in at that point or else why wouldn’t a 6’4’’ receiver with 130+ career TDs get outjumped by a 5’9’’ corner. I will get the proverbial Bills Boner if he can pan out under Chan Gailey. He’s got arguably more physical tools than Sanchise and Hiney.
I don't understand
and I don’t want to!

How about a Fitzpatd.......nevermind :-)

To be fair, it’s not like this is Edwards vs. the Manning brothers or something.

LOL
gotta point there, but after last year? Bill’s fans forgiving?
by buffalobacker on Mar 10, 2010 9:30 PM EST up reply actions
No...Just that....
the Bills finally have a real offensive coaching staff… Might even be able to put together sustained drives, and implement a game plan geared toward a QBs strengths…. What a novel idea for Bills football!!!
This,
I’d actually enjoy seeing Trentative under a more settled system of people who KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING (I E, not AVP getting randomly thrust into the OC position next to the most underaged line in all of football) and see if he can get back to his early 08 form.
If not, we can always get a new guy in the draft, we’re rebuilding after all!

He survived last season under circumstances practically unprecedented and still had the support of his players. Don’t forget, at least one more will arrive before OTA’s and training camp and then let the competition begin. Whom ever wins the battle deserves the shot. This is a very serious post about the near and possibly long term future and the majority of you have turned it into a joke or half hearted idea.
Ryan Fitzpatrick can read the defenses, make the throws and earned the right to be considered the best chance to win. Brian Brohm would be second on that list, at least until the roster changes and possibly could stay there or move up.
This is like dumping a new puzzle from it's box. Now let's start putting the peices together. I guess this is what we all asked for.
I disagree...
Fitzpatrick wont get any better any time soon, and will eventually hold the team back. Dont delay the learning time for the other QBs.

make the throws
See, that’s his problem. He throws so inaccurately that he will never really be the bonafide starter on a playoff team. While he does have flashes of brilliance and did win games last season, remember he was only in competition with the newly broken souled Trent Edwards.

Edwards starts........ Brohn Learns this year
Particularly if we are using a rookie at LT. Rather have an experienced guy with at least some success while the line gels…….. after this year & all bets are off

I could go edit the poll and include the option myself!

But that sounds like something...
Chris Kelsay would do. : )

Yeah right
He would work really hard on the “draft” version of the poll to hone his poll making skills, but when crunch time comes, he would totally fall flat on his face and be unable to actually perform up to professional poll making standards.

If its those three
Edwards deserves another chance with a coach that actually can run an offense instead of AVP and no o-line literally DAYS before the season started.

But
I thought Trent lost support of teammates? I quess new HC etc.. your saying he deserves a second look?
by buffalobacker on Mar 11, 2010 12:19 PM EST up reply actions
He did. With T.O. gone does it matter a whole lot? Lee Evans will keep his mouth shut and play as will the rest of the guys. I just don’t think any of the options are that attractive. If Brohm wows someone during OTAs and minicamp and training camp I can see it but… I’m meh on the whole thing.

I'm sure this will be revisited once we're in camp..
But just from what we know right now I’d have to go with Brohm..Trent showed NOTHING in preseason last year..He was just given the starting job..I’d like to see what Brohm has in him through training camp and preseason before I’d really be into giving him the starting nod though..Can’t go by what he did in the Packers camp,it’s whole different offense there than I think Chan has planned for here..He might just shine..Or he might just shine shoes for someone that does perform well..
Never argue with an Idiot, they'll drag You down to their level and beat You with experience every time..
Wow.
Really didn’t expect the results. Thought more people who think Fitzy is at least capable of keeping us in games. Thought almost everyone would trash Edwards. Guess I expected Brohm to win it hands down.
Brohm shouldn’t be counted out. Nor should Edwards. Different system. If a franchise QB doesn’t find his way to Buffalo in this offseason, I think Nix and Gailey will hedge their bets and have a three headed QB competition with a camp fodder 4th option.
i will not drinketh thy coolaid...
Fitx can keep us in games but has no shot in my eyes of ever being the long term answer. He’d be last out of the three for me. Brohm has shown me nothing whereas Trent has had a few good games. It’s an easy call for me to make, personally.
You can't have CHANGE without CHAN.
