Mock Draft - Second try

So I know this is a very ideal draft but if you step back and look at the whole thing, I think is could happen.  No trades in this one even though I think the Bills my pick up a few extra picks on draft day though player trades.

1 - 9:  Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa - With the retirement of Brad Butler this pick is Bulaga or best available OT I dont care as long as OBD see's him as the franchise OT.  I like Bulaga here because I think he's the most NFL ready and we can immediately plug him into LT.

2 - 9:  Tim Tebow, QB, Florida - Ok, let the mixed posting begin but I am a firm believer that this draft will be a hybrid of needs and best player available.  Bulaga is both and so it this pick.  I'll preface by saying that I think Edwards may go into the season as the starter.  Tebow played his Freshman season as a back-up situational player behind Leak and I think thats how you bring him into the NFL.  By seasons end he could be our started but just like the T.O. signing this will bring publicity and sales to an organization that needs some noise.  I think that his mechanics will improve and we have already schedualed a one on one with him.   If for some reason it looks like he may not fall here I see the front office trading this pick and a player or next year pick to get him.

3 - 9:  Torrell Troup, NT, Central Florida - Back to need on this pick but I think that it still holds a lot of value.  if he isn't available its going to be the best DLine prospect that fits the 3-4 but I'm hoping we can find a NT in this round.

4 - 9:  Pat Angerer, ILB, Iowa - ILB have always fallen on draft day and this guy brings too much energy and impact to not get picked up here.  He brings immediate depth to a very deprived position and if he isn't here its a LB of some kind.

5 - 9:  Antonio Coleman, OLB, Auburn - A great talent out of a speedy SEC this guy has put up great numbers year after year and could push Maybin in camp.

6 - 9: Corey Peters, DE, Kentucky - He may not fall down here but its going to be someone on the Dline since its a position of need and we only have a few DE still on the roster. (Stroud, Spencer, McCargo?)

6 - Supp:  Armanti Edwards, WR/QB, Appalachian State - The QB to WR transition movement is working in the NFL and I think he could really bring a lot to the table.  A few months ago I had a Madden-esq moment of thinking - What would a team be like if they had Tebow AND Vick on their roster?  I thought it would be crazy but could work.  Now that he seems to be settled in Philly I think this is a great pick for two positions.  We could use an extra wideout and imagine a wildcat with Edwards and Tebow.

7 - 9: Kurtis Gregory, OG, Missouri - Depth on our line is a must during this draft and Gregory played for 3 years at Missouri, he could develop into a great player and provide extra insurance if Wood isn't ready.

7 - Supp: Stafon Johnson, RB, USC - He may not fall here but I hope that he does.  If it isnt Johnson it will be a runningback of sorts and dont be suprised if its another small school guy like Omon or a situational PR/KR kind of player.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Give me the Juice over Armanti...

He’s got a better arm and runs with the physicality that could complement Freddie very well in the Wildcat. I’m telling you don’t sleep on this guy as a 6-7th round pick.

nah, especially not with tebow

You get a guy like the one on the jets for that change of pace fast QB, like an antwaan randle el.
the jets guy made some big plays and edwards could play that role

Kind of like Brad Smith of the Jets.

Hey BTW…ND vs Pitt @ 7 on ESPN, should be a good game. We need it bad, IMO escp since Marquette took down Nova but ND should be in.

It's all good, both great Universities with great sport traditions.

I mean damn you guys were in the BE tourny final 7 out of the last 9 seasons coming into the buzzsaw that is the ND (high school basketball,in how they’re playing now) team. Also we just played some great defense throughout the game, and have the past 6-7 games. I give credit to Brey, I gave up on him like every other coach on my big 3 (Bills, ND FB, ND BB) this season and now he’s back being my favortie wanna be mobster with his mock turtle neck and sport jackets. The game was a dogfight and your boy who is great Wanamaker had some beautiful lay-ups in traffic. Now going into the WVU vs Cincy game the BE Tourny has had all upsets according to seeding, cincy could make it 4 for 4, amazing. Good game, maybe we’ll play each other in the dance, in any way I’m proud of this ND BBall team and couldn’t ever say that.

Very Solid draft. I would be happy if the bills went in this direction

by MarkyMarkO on Mar 11, 2010 11:26 AM EST reply actions

Don't get Juice on that Armanti...

Ok, I’ll be fine if the Bills took Juice with that pick – as long as its an athletic QB that can play WR.

Why not just draft a WR?

Huh

Does not compute. ; )

by mob16151 on Mar 11, 2010 12:11 PM EST up reply actions

That seems like a smarter idea. Especially with this mock draft where we already take Tebow who is a very athletic QB. Also from the looks of it, it is very possible Bulaga could go before 9 and we don’t get a shot at him.

RB

I like your early picks, have you considered James Starks as a possible late rounder? Not real sure how long he’ll be a round though.

by buffalobacker on Mar 11, 2010 12:22 PM EST reply actions

I like it!

only change I would make would be make the fourth rd WR or blocking TE. Then go LB, ect.

I’m with staying with Edwards for now. I have a feeling, given good protection, that he might surprise a lot of people.

Why not

who would take him ahead of us?

Are you prposing we take him in the 1st then? Or do a JP and trade back up to the 1st round to get him?

Please, no more 1/2/3 round picks who can’t contribute in Yr 1.

I believe they may have a interest.

if they don’t someone else will be tempted. After his proday I bet we start thinking about taking him at 9

that my friend , is frightening.

Later Losman!

by rockybillboa on Mar 11, 2010 3:05 PM EST up reply actions

Bulaga will be like Pozlowski (spelling?) – a hard working guy who will not be a star. Blue collar fan favorite! But I think Trent Williams would be better and if we can nab Clausen it would help us more overall.

by Bill Frank on Mar 11, 2010 2:22 PM EST reply actions

Bulaga

I don’t think he will be like Poz, He is an A+ Run Blocker, he won’t make it past pick 14, he will be picked by then, he is too polished and could go as early as 5.

There's not a wide receiver who is fast enough, that J.P. Losman can't overthrow him on a fly pattern.

by The Buffalo Kid on Mar 11, 2010 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

I'd be crazy shocked.

If Bulaga isn’t picked within the #5-#14 pick range.

mock draft

not bad! i like the first 2 but i think if jordan shipley falls to the 3rd we should take him there…..he’s an outstanding slot receiver and someone who would be an awesome security blanket for our qb….i also think if we take tebow in the 2nd we should def. trade for mike vick like Poz has been saying all along

I would love Shipley in the 3rd or 4th, he could be great IMO

absolutely

im not too sure where most guys have him rated i know before he was a 3rd of 4th ranked prospect even in some opinions a mid to low 2nd round pick but that may have changed after the combine? also i would love if in the 5th or 6th the bills took a shot at james starks the rb from ub who was getting a lot of attention before a season ending injury….let him sit for a yr heal up like we did with mcgahee and see what happens could be a steal in the draft

Not that i either like or dislike tebow but in the second round i’m just not sure. I like best OT in first round but i think we need to take the best DT or OLB in the second. Also….what about Jarret Brown from WV in the 3rd.

by kelly502 on Mar 11, 2010 6:01 PM EST reply actions

Bulaga

I’m assuming that Okung and David are off the board in your mock ?

I’m not a huge fan of Bulaga at 9 as many know – not that he’s a big reach there, but I do think he’s overvalued at 9. The short arms make him a risky prospect at LT.

Troup is being projected in the 2nd in most mocks so he’d be great value in the 3rd – but then again there’s no guarantee he will.

Solid overall mock though.
