A Dream of my own... Jahvid Best
O.k so let me start by saying I don't claim to be a Football expert far from it, but what I am however is as passionate as any fan about the Buffalo Bills! A team I have supported back in London (The UK) since those glory days of Kelly, Thomas, Smith & Reed to name but a few... What I would give (like every fan) to see this franchise back where it belongs... Challenging, and one day I pray winning that first and elusive Super Bowl! If any team in the NFL deserves it... then it's Buffalo.
Obviously with the current roster that is a distant dream, but with the new management of Chix or whatever you want to call it, I am confident that they will do all they can to bring the success that has been too long in the memory. At the moment there moves in Free agency have certainly not set us on fire! In terms of excitement or in catching our imagination, however I feel they have shown a willingness to try and get players in - where there are the most glaring holes on the roster. (RT, NT etc) If they can fill in some of those positions, and then some in the coming weeks? Maybe just maybe we won't have to go for all the positions people expect us to go for in the draft i.e.; QB, LT or NT? Most of you will probably say that this is very wishful thinking to say the least... But as the title of this post says, this is a dream of my own... & as fans we can all dream right?
Talking of dreaming anyone who has seen me recently posting on the Buffalo Rumblings, will know I am a massive fan of the running back Jahvid Best and that I have been banging on about him non-stop! Sorry about that, but what I would give to have him here at Buffalo especially if he is fully recovered from his injury nightmares... He would be a lethal weapon on our offensive, a running back speed demon! Who would give us home run - take it to the house ability! Chan Gailey has already stated he is going to want to run the Football? Why not Trade Lynch for a 3rd or a 4th pick, and try and get Best who could well be there in the 2nd Rd? But whom I would even take with the 9th overall pick (call me mad why don't cha!) If we have addressed many of our other desperate needs.
I picked out some quotes from his recent performances @ the combine:
* SI on Best: Extremely quick in drills, never losing momentum when double-cutting. Legitimate downfield threat in pass catching drills
* From SI.com "Draft Risers" - Best was the fastest of the running backs, timing both his forty's in the mid 4.3-second range.... (Faster than C.J!)
* "Cal back Jahvid Best, who crushed a 4.33, which puts him about a stride behind Usain Bolt, two in front of a Porsche?"
Do you agree with me? Would like to see Jahvid Best at the Buffalo Bills?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

2nd Rd for me
I actually voted to take him in the 2nd Rd, as I deemed this as a much more realistic scenario.
I voted for a 2nd Rd...
I am a Cal Bears fan and I would love to see Lynch and Best in that backfield. Like you said, this combo back there would be a dream of MY own…BEASTMODE and SPEEDMODE kills!!! Mind as well go all out. Bring in Rodgers and D Jax to complete the offense…
I bleed PURPLE...YadaddaaaaKING?!?!?!
DieHard SacKings/ BuffaloBills fan...yeah, tell me about it...one does exist!!!
I actually said Trade Lynch
However I would be more than happy as you said with
BEASTMODE and SPEEDMODE
We love tea in England mate!
CJ Spiller is probably more likely to happen as we are taking a closer look at him, but you never know right? Anything can happen.
Yes true, but as I said...
If he is over his injury nightmares, then could be a steal in the 2nd Rd? He certainly gave a good account of himself at the Combine – He was the fastest RB
If
I was to pick a rb at nine it been Spiller, they’re both 4.3 guys. Same build. Spiller can catch and would make good K/R.
I'd prefer Best, as is obvious!
But I’d be happy to have another speed demon in C.J who would give us that threat we have been lacking for such a long time.
It would not break my heart.......
…….. nor would it be a bad idea to pick him up in the 3rd. We just have too many needs. And RB is not one of them.
I love this guy.

I’m more for Dwyer than Best especially because Chan
"Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism."- Eastbound and down...if you like baseball, watch this show it's one of the funniest ever!
Dwyer?
Why? What do we need another between the tackles runner for?
Best, or someone like him, would be much more appealing because of the threat of big plays, something our offense is DIEING for.

luxury pick
OBD doesn’t have the luxury of selecting a RB this high. if we can find a RB that is fast and has a body of work at the college level then I would be all for it later in the draft.
if someone like Mccluster from Ole Miss is there in the 4th round I wouldn’t hesitate to select him.
It's crazy talk to trade lynch
for anything less than at least a 1st rounder. we have to have 2 solid RBs’. with Lynch and Jackson the Bills are all set at the position. Why turn what may be the only strong spot on the entire team into a question mark! sure Lynch comes with some risk due to off field issues but Jahvid Best would be a risk on the field with his injury history, not to mention the fact that he’s doesn’t have the experience Lynch has. Getting only a 3d or 4th for Lynch is rediculous.
Your entitled to your opinion
3d or 4th for Lynch is ridiculous
But he won’t be worth a 1st Rd pick at this moment as he comes with baggage, and if he steps out of line again he will be worth even less than a 3rd & 4th!
Now Denver as a whole wasn't that great last year
but their initial run was very successful and they were quite exciting.
One thing Id like to mention is that they were “supposed” to draft certain defensive players in the 1st round, but they took Knowshon Moreno… and it was a good move for the long term in my opinion. Therefore, if we take Best, or Spills… whomever, even if we have RBs (which we don’t have nearly as many as Denver did when they took Moreno) I think it could be a solid move

Well Denver did have two first round picks last year....

that is certainly true
and they had some more leeway in that sense, but it can be argued, was and still could be, that Moreno was a pick that was more luxury and not necessary, yet still may come to be a positive in the long haul.

And three second round picks. And they were an 8-8 team the year before that barely missed the playoffs. And maybe most importantly, Denver had a gaping hole at RB. Buffalo doesn’t.
I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute
Well that is debatabe
As Marshwan Lynch is a “Ticking Time Bomb” one more F*@^ up, and we could be left with Fred Jackson as our only back. Of course I could be wrong and ML could turn over a new leaf under the tutelage of Chan Gailey and the new management.
But even having Fred Jackson and only Fred Jackson isn’t a gaping hole at RB like Denver had. They were going to roll with some random combo of Correll Buckhalter, LaMont Jordan and AJ Arrington. And Buffalo could trade Lynch and still have half a dozen bigger needs than RB.

I hear ya
But you have to remember that what I want to happen, and what will happen are two completely different things? I did state the following:
If we have addressed many of our other desperate needs. Then i would love Best to be a Bill, as I think he would be a great acquisition to our team. But the whole thing at the moment is just a pipe dream and a fantasy on my behalf, in all reality it is unlikely to happen unless we gt a lot more busy during free agency filling in the many holes we have.
Look @ Chris Johnson
I don’t know the history behind his move, but he is a star running back currently playing in a weak team.
But in the long term you can build around a guy like that.
The Chris Johnson move was done when the Titans weren’t so weak, and they exploded to having the best record in the league with him, so I would say that is the type of thing that is a complete win-win, although, the Bills are not as fortified as the Titans were when they drafted CJ… but still they are weak now, but that is after having him. Weak, of course is a bit misleading, but nonetheless, no playoffs, and a year that was half atrocious, half acceptable, still leaves them in the weak category

Best - RB in the draft
I personally think he is the best RB in the draft and would make a fine addition. The guy has excellent vision, great cutbacks and patience at the line. Top that off with the fastest 40 at the combine.
HOWEVER, is he a need ? – certainly RB is way down our list. Last time we did this we ended up with McGahee. If we could trade down once or twice and get him late first and have a glut of picks – sure. (I doubt he’s there in the 2nd) I would not cry re Best in the late 1st with 3 or 4 extra picks along the way – BUT, thats the only scenario I like him for our team.
I think he’ll be a fine pro – (and a great FF option) However as we can all agree – RB is not our biggest need as yet. 1st round RB’s should be for the “team that has everything” We (sadly) have closer to nothing than everything.
"Fan ?" You want to talk about being a fan of the Bills ? Try getting up at 3 AM every Monday to watch their games knowing they'll likely lose. Do this for 18 years and then call yourself a "fan"
