Can we get some real D Linemen please?
While OBD works on getting Jimmy Kennedy on board, I have real concerns about our ability to man the 5 technique and OLB roles.
At OLB we currently have Schobel, if he stays on, and Kelsay, and it remains to be seen if either can play from a 2 point stance and drop into coverage. The same holds true for Aaron Maybin, who everyone has seemingly anointed a starter.
Enter Greg Ellis, late of the Raiders who has averaged 8 sacks over the past 5 years while spending 4 of those years as an OLB in the Dallas 3-4. He is strong against the run and might be had for a short term incentive laden contract. He would bring a certain "been there, done that" aspect to the team and Chan should know him from his Dallas days.
I would prefer we look at this D and add some established vets to the mix now or we will see our front 7 on D turn into last year's OLine experiment, where injuries and a lack of depth doomed our season.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I wouldn't be adverse to bringing in one more veteran
That actually has experience playing the 3-4. It couldn’t hurt.

Hey the only people who matter when in comes to annointing is Gailey and Edwards. They should at least give him starter reps in camp because he’s moving to a new position.
You have to remember, and this needs to be posted somewhere on the ten commandments of Buffalo Rumblings somewhere before I lose the energy to repeat it:
Nobody comes into the league as an experienced 3-4 OLB. Even if you played 9 technique in college you didn’t play in a pro defense using that alignment. Everyone – no exceptions – comes into the league on ground level with that particular role. It’s purely a matter of projecting an athlete – based on film – and determining if he could be successful.
Please, can we stop talking about Maybins lack of experience at OLB?
