That would be Syracuse DT Arthur Jones, who projects incredibly well as a 3-4 lineman, for those of you who aren’t aware.

is durability an issue that you’ve (BR draft scouts) seen per my statements below?

Not really, aside from the obvious injury.

Draft Status: As I said, where Jones will be drafted has less to do with his talent and much more to do with what the doctors say. If he checks out medically, there’s no doubt he’s a first round type of talent, especially to a 3-4 team, looking for a DE who can get pressure on the quarterback in the base set. But his stock could slip out of the first round, because teams don’t want to commit that first round money to a player who might not be as durable as they should be.

2nd
most have him between 35 and 50 so an early to mid second by most prospect rankings. he could translate at a number of 3-4 lineman positions though depending on which type of 3-4 we end up in. (most likely a 4-3 hahaha)

Is this guy strictly a 3/4 DE or does he have potential in the middle?
Seems a bit light to handle 2 gap?

I think he’s a 4-3 DT, 3-4 DE. Still, even with NT being a need, a adding a good 3-4 DE wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

how many of these visits can the bills have?

And another question
In the past few years (let;s say since Rumblings has been around and we’ve all been following with a closer eye) how many of these visits were reported, and then we nabbed the player? i.e. did we meet with Maybin, Byrd, Edwards, Hardy, McKelvin, etc, and what happened… ?

I could be wrong but the news seems to be a bit more upfront this year. I don’t know if it’s the regime change, but it seems the last group didn’t want the media to know if they ran out of cereal for the players.

and that didn't matter much either
its all about the talent, in order to get to the top tier of teams, and then coaching separates those teams in general, and then when two very good/great teams collide (like this year’s super bowl) anything can happen and most likely will as decisive playing and coaching decisions decide the outcome

Hmm...
Bulaga/Trent Williams in the first, Arthur Jones in the second. Yup I could deffinatly live with that.

Also probably a good call, as Jones is said to be more of a 3-4 DE. Add into to that the fact that he has medical issues and he can go anywhere between the first and the mid third (depending on what doctor’s say). How about Bulaga-Cody-Jones. Thats sounds like a great first 3 rounds to me.

why not just take the best player that you want, no matter what others say… I am all for the scouting done by people inside and outisde of the NFL and their grades on players… but sometimes you have to stick with your guns and not apologize or shy away from it if it goes wrong. Either way… I just figure, if players drafted in the first three rounds all turn out to be good players, then you succeeded as a GM/coach/FO…

Would rather see us grab Cam Thomas or Tyson Alualu if they are there with the 2nd
didnt tyson play in a 3-4 at Cal?
Tyson will make it to the third…I think

I wouldn’t count on that. It’s possible, but nowhere near a lock.

I know...
That it shouldn’t matter but as someone who bleeds orange (bleed seems a very fitting word for SU football fans lately) every year I hope and hope and hope that the Bills will grab someone from SU for me to root for (even though the last few years it’s been slim pickens).
I’d LOVE to have Arthur Jones in Buffalo. Durability is definatley an issue but he’s got what it takes.
I’d also love to see us take a flier on Mike Williams – here’s a guy who messed up in college (a few times) and has some baggage but could be a gem in the late rounds for a team looking for a WR. He was the best WR in the Big East before all the stuff went down with him this season.
It’s stupid…and I ultimatley want us to take the players that will help us the most but I’m pulling for the Bills to grab him. He could slip to the third (in September the “great hair” Kiper had him as a sure first rounder and one of the top 3 DT’s in the nation).
I wouldn't go near Mike Williams
Simply because I think that kid needs to get away from Buffalo and upstate NY. He’s got some issues and I don’t think being right around the corner from where he grew up is going to work out that well….

"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."
You’re probably right…but he’s got potential.
I was always impressed with what he did to get back in school after his first mess-up and thought maybe he’d turned a corner. Never really got the story the second time around (got about five different stories).

I wouldn't go near Mike Williams
Because of his name. No offense to the player himself.
Shudders
Haha…yeah. The name certainly doesn’t have a good track record.

BILLS TO HOST COLT McCOY!
Dunno what you guys think? But with Tebow & Colt McCoy now confirmed as possible Bills targets, it looks like the F/O will be targeting a QB in the latter rounds of the draft?
should post this in fanshot.....

Tebow and McCoy?
It’s like the “Future Busts” list is all coming to town, lets bring in Bruce Campbell too!

Bruce Campbell
At least if we drafted Campbell we could call our O line “The Army of Darkness”. That’s a pretty good consolation prize.
did you read where Clausen was compared to Losman? I’d rather see #9 used on the best LT or NT available. Not sure there will be a good value with either of those positions at 41.
