Brandon Spikes
For those of you who thought Brandon Spikes was a first round talent, he failed to run under a 5 second 40 at the Florida Pro Day.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody. I would have guessed he’d run around 4.9. He’s always been overrated athletically and his sideline to sideline ability is pretty weak. But his role in this defense would be to do what he excels at. And that’s diagnosing the play in front of him, taking on blockers and making plays in traffic. For me, he’s still an ideal candidate to take in the 2nd round. I wonder how he did in the shuttle. That’s an infinitely more telling drill for ILBs than the 40.
I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute
Yeah. It’s alarming, but not unexpected. He’s not a defensive centerpiece. He’s basically a Ted ILB that’s smart, a leader, and not in it for glory.
I’m not sure he’s “ideal” as a second-rounder now that Andra Davis is on board, but yeah, if he makes it out of the second, somebody will be really happy with their third-round pick.

I’d be more willing to grab a big, slightly faster run stopper ILB in like the 4th or 5th than use a second rounder on Spikes.
