Why get Clausen
We gotta chance to actually fix up our lines a bit here
and i like Jake Locker better anyways. Lets fix up this line, give whichever one of our soon to be 4 quarterbacks (Chix said they were going to training camp with 4 so will prolly take a McCoy or Lefevor in 2 or 3 round) a chance to prove themselves and see where we end up next year in the draft and get locker locked up. Yay or Nay????
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

What's the point?
If you believe the Bills will take a QB in Rounds 2 or 3… then what is the point of taking another young guy next year in Round 1? If the Bills use a Day 2 pick (Round 1 on Day 1, Rounds 2-3 on Day 2, Rounds 4-7 on Day 3) on a QB, it would be a completely wasted draft pick if they simply replace that guy with their #1 pick next year. I’m not saying that it couldn’t happen because the guy they take now could turn out to be a huge disappointment, but that should definitely not be the long term plan going forward.
DC Chocolate City!
i think
that you have a good point. i dont think anyone can really say whats going to happen till it happens. for all we know, we could quite possibly get a qb via free agency i.e. philly but thats a shot in the dark too. they made it pretty clear that they wanted 4 qbs to go to training camp and all other prospects are dwindleing. kinda just leaves the draft right? i think locker is the way to go though. and i dont think any bradford or clausen gets down to the number 9 spot anyways. i would love to see trent edwards prove his worth this year, but i think thats dependant on how long he can stand straight up without getting knocked on his rear. cest la vie anyone from southern california on here? me and a few other upstate guys watch every week at the blue beet in newport beach.

Locker if he is as hot as he is currently...
Will probably be gone before the Bills are able to select him?
Maybe a Bradford type situation, never know

So your logic is that since they’re going to have 4 QB’s in training camp anyway, why bother getting a GOOD one to add if he may not make it?
Or am I missing something here.

The more and more I think about it – the more I think he’s going to be our guy a 9

who are the Redskins going to take?
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
i’m not sure – I just think he’s going to fall and Nix/Gailey will want him.

All that I can say is..
I deliberately watched almost every single ND game last year knowing that Claussen was within our reach. I definitely liked what I saw, he had an amazing year. He has the arm to make all the throws and he is extremely competitive, really cool dude under pressure. I think ND’s defense sucked which is why they were so bad, certainly not a reflection on Claussen’s play.
Then last week I was at a bar having a drink and started talking with this guy from Tennessee. He was extremely knowledgeable of college football and has been following Claussen’s career for a while, since he saw both of Claussen’s brothers pass through UT. This guy seems to think that Claussen will never be a good NFL QB because he is stubborn and extremely full of himself. He even drew comparisons with Ryan Leaf. Let me tell you that I left that bar with a totally changed opinion of Jimmy Claussen. Now I realize that this is only one guy’s opinion but it seems to fit, even the games I watched, I’d say that he was supremely confident and definitely borderline cocky, which now put into context – Scares the crap out of me!
All that I can say is we’d better do our homework well because if there’s an inch of truth and there’s a risk of Claussen being like Leaf, well forget it!!!
Rome wasn't built in a day but there was a plan.
thank you, keysh!
Now we’re on the same page. I’ve heard the same opinion now from more than a couple sources. I really don’t think either Gailey or Nix would put up with any prima donna’s. Based on this, I’d be surprised if they take a chance in Clausen. Whomever ends up being the QB of the future for the Bills will need to demonstrate humility and have the ability to maintain patience and perseverance while the rebuilding process takes place. Not meant as an insult, but I do think he fits in with a Shanahan-led Redskins team.
