i like bulaga
i dont think he will be a perennial pro bowler, but i think that works to our advantage. he will be a solid LT in this league for years, and because he probably wont be pro bowl caliber he will be a lil cheaper and therefore more likely to stay. i would love for bulaga to be our 1st round pick

A team with no Pro Bowl level players isn’t likely to do very well.
I want the absolute best player that can be found.
uh thats a stretch
i didnt say the bills have no pro bowlers. byrd comes to mind, and im sure others will be drafted/signed/developed, i was just saying i dont think bulaga is pro bowl level.
i do think bulaga will be top 5-10 lts in the league, and can shore up the left side for 7-10 years. and thats why i think hes a good pick.

lol
So lets not take the best Lt cause he is gonna be a pro bowler so we can keep the worse one here longer. lol whats that tell me that iam glad ur not the one running this team cause it wouldnt change the loseing ways of the team. He looked lousey againset michagn. And i for one want the best palyer at lt that we can get and i hope he is a pro bowler because i want to win not just get by. People lets trying to talk like we want winners here not just someone that wont cost the team less
ok well okung is gonna be gone
and if you are for drafting jason peters over and over, just for him to complain he hates buffalo and doesnt get paid enough so that hes only here for 2 years, then thats good thinking. also i didnt say i didnt want a pro bowl lt, i just said the fact that i dont think he will be one will help the bills to retain him. reading comprehension people!

actullay if u knew anything peters wasnt drafted he was a undrafted free agent who came in as a tight end. And him complanning that he wasnt paid enough was true. he was paid three mil a yr. when walker was getiing 5 mil a yr. and dockery was being paid 8 mil a yr. plus another thing is that if a guy comes in here at the nine pick and plays the contract put he is gonna want a raise anyways. And thats why u go after the player who is the best not a guy cause he would be cheaper and kept here longer. One other thing a player is not gonna be here for two yrs and try to demand a trade. peters want one cause he want a raise and for god sakes he is one player who deiserve one when he worked so hard for one coming from a undrafted tightend to a pro bowl LT. name the last player that did that
actullay if u knew anything peters wasnt drafted he was a undrafted free agent who came in as a tight end
Fairly certain that
a) he knew that
b) you missed his point
c) you didn’t need to be so condescending

I respectfully have to disagree with you. I have watched a lot of video on Bulaga and it seems the defenders get to the outside and around him too much. They may not get all the way to the quarterback, but I think the NFL defenders will. He just doesn’t seal that outside in a dominant way in college, which concerns me about how he will get exposed in the NFL. I don’t want to say its his arm length because I’m not qualified, but I wonder if that’s contributing.
Agreed
I’ve seen very little film and am in any event an amateur observer at best, but that was my opinion. I hope the Bills pass on Bulaga. They can get average LT in the 3rd round. Why pass up an outstanding pass rusher or NT (or QB?) for a mediocre LT?
They may not get all the way to the quarterback
None of them did. He kept the defenders to the outside and thats all that you really need to do. I think that he’ll do fine in the NFL.
The more I see, the less I know.

No one said they did. But NFL pass rushers could expose what seems to be a legitimate problem of letting college pass rushers get to the edge.
by Buffalonian on Mar 19, 2010 11:36 PM EDT up reply actions
Can’t disagree with that. I just think that Bulaga has enough smarts to learn how to also keep them at bay, although his rookie season might get rough. Learning process and all.

No Problem w Bulaga
in the teens or 20’s… not at 9. I think you need to get an elite athlete when your picking in the top 10 and not take a “solid” player that fills a need. i think he would be better off being on the right side as well if they do take him.
Thou shall not drinketh thy KoolAid...
I agree
I’ve been saying for over a month now that I don’t view Bulaga as value with the 9th pick at all. For some reason he suddenly got popular around here after a few folks mentioned him. He is as you say solid – worthy of a 2nd half pick in round one – but you’d like more bang for the 9th pick.
"Fan ?" You want to talk about being a fan of the Bills ? Try getting up at 3 AM every Monday to watch their games knowing they'll likely lose. Do this for 18 years and then call yourself a "fan"
I think they’ll go D front 7 at #9 anyway. I would use their first two picks grabbing up these big bodies on the D. You can get a serviceable OT in the third.
This class is soo uncommon on the Defensive front 7 side of things I think you have to take advantage of it.
Thou shall not drinketh thy KoolAid...
BETTER BE FIRST PICK
SEE WHAT HE DID TO DERRICK MORGAN TOP RATED DE AND COREYY WOOTEN ANOTHER TOP RATED DE AND HE’S ONLY 20 I HOPE HE’S THIER FOR ARE PICK AT 9
Agreed, he is not perfect, but for the most part he played very well in those clips
Many mocks now have him going before the Bills pick at #9. People said the same about Oher and now pine for him.

it appeared that way in the video. On the few decent pass plays he had, it actually looked like he had a pretty good grip on the defender. Surprised he wasn’t called for holding on those. His footwork really sucked too, defenders just blasted right by him.
that is what must make him a better RT

I agree. It seemed like he got blasted off the line & pushed back on every pass play. As far as the holding, he might very well get called for those in the NFL. They let a lot more of that kind of stuff go in college, whereas NFL refs like to call every little ticky tack call. I almost think they have to because of the speed of the game. His run blocking was pretty good. So yeah, I’m not seeing why people on here are so hyped about him, especially at #9.
Bulaga
O.K. i get it he’s a gamer but he’s not worthy of 9th pick. And surprise there was speculation about his arm length. He’s not the best option at 9th pick. I truly hope we don’t take him at #9. There’s been like a “Tebowcrush” with this guy. And like Tebow, ppl can’t get over the guy.
You know who I had a "crush" on last year? Mack and Oher.....so we shall see if my taste in O-linemen continues to be excellent.

o.k. got it. Ducasse is a big reach, but you can always move him to round 3. My Draft remains unchanged also http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/2/2/1289949/dzils-first-ever-stab-at-a-mock
I doubt Ducasse makes it out of the second round.....I don't care if I take him a little early because I want to start him at RG and move Wood to C
I have made some changes to my mock, but mostly in the mid rounds to late rounds due to players like Skelton rising. I also have us trading Lynch for a 3rd and 4th. I have been waiting until we get closer to the draft to post it.
I like the trades in your mock, but I think it needs some updating too. I don’t like Davis at all….to much risk given how he has performed at the combine and acted at his proday. Also, I don’t think Jared Veldheer makes it out of the 3rd round. I saw you have Byham……I just added him to my draft in the 7th round.
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
I know I need to update, was a long time ago. I’m waiting until it’s closer to draft day. Davis taking a turn for the worse is a problem because I’m not sold on bulaga. I may end up having to change my top three, if I have to take Saffold in 2. Wait and see how the next couple weeks play out. My trades are not valid anymore, either.
I have made some changes to my mock, but mostly in the mid rounds to late rounds due to players like Skelton rising.
I really think The Eagles are looking at Skelton in the 4th or 5th, especially if they can get a 4th or 5th for Vick.

If we are taking a project QB.
I agree with you Joe, Skelton is a good choice. I think 3 is a bit risky with our needs, but if he’s there at 4, I’m all for it.

I liked Mack
I just thought that Levitre had more of a nasty streak, and I loved Ungers versatility. Honestly I was also kind of Meh on Eric Wood.
what about the yrs before that
u prolly liked mike willams to?
Ummm what
I wanted the Mt McKinney. And howdid me wanting 2 guy’s who both did pretty well there rookie season, have to do with Mike William’s. Please enlighten me. Cuz I’m lost.
cause u say this after they were drafted thats why
its not hard to say players are good after they are established
Sometimes I wonder about these discussions...
Hell, we’re all such experts on this … today. (Well I admit to being a novice, but I also say things like ‘send Trent and Marshawn away while we can still get something for them’ like I know what I’m talking about. Though I do think I have a right to think that anyone who’s pushing for Trent to get the ball back is on crack. Don’t results count for anything these days? And Fitz DID get what, 500 percent more wins?)
But when Draft Day comes around, what are the chances that we get just as much egg on our face as the followers here last year. (Not very good at links in this forum, just go looking for ‘Bills draft Byrd’ from last year. Yes, that Byrd, our only Pro Bowler. Who got a …27 percent approval rating on the poll?)
Crap, the first four rounds provided five starters, counting Maybin, and I bet every one of them got moaned about by someone. (Maybin semi-deservedly so, since he feels like half-hit, half-miss at the moment, but still, Wood is in the lineup if he’s walking, Levitre feels like he’s gonna be around for a while, Nelson has a hell of an upside and I don’t even need to say anything about Byrd.) So all I really know is that we don’t know what’ll happen at all.
I mean, yeah, we need a starting NT and LT, we need situational players at OLB, and we need depth on the offensive line. That’s a given. We could also use a blocking TE, another WR (though it might be nice to just see if Hardy and Johnson are ready finally) and I really don’t think we could pass Clausen or Bradford up if they’re available, but we could just go with a prospect at QB to eventually try to wrest second-string from Brohm, then first string from Fitz. (Again, I seriously think Trent got screwed up by DJ handing him the ball too soon — in the words of Gene Hackman he “should’ve been holding a clipboard that first season”. Ironic, considering there’s practically no chance in hell that Clausen or Bradford will be, wherever they land.)
with regard to Byrd, I was in the 27%. People were screaming so loud, they failed to hear the explanation about figuring him as a safety, not a CB. I was dead against Maybin and don’t regret it. The thing is, nobody knows who will be available when your number is up. The first 3 or 4 picks are fairly certain, but when it gets to Al Davis everything goes out the window.
Big Bulaga fan
but this film session brings out some concerns.
It looks like he could struggle with speed rusher at the NFL elite level (but who doesnt? top 2 tackles in the league)
HE dominates in the run game!!!! Enough said about that. Always room for improvement.
I like the “personna” of him, blue collar, hard work, etc.
But 9 seems like a reach for this guy. I want OBD to pick BPA available at 9.
WE are rebuilding, no need to reach for a guy. Take best talent available at 9. As much as I dont like this QB class, if you believe your franchise QB is there at 9, you have to draft him. I hope Bradford and Clausen are both gone by 9. We dont have a good solution at QB this season. I think we are better off getting that QB later. Either next year or a late round flier (rd 3+)
Let the offseason begin
This video shows me how much
more I like Buluga now, solid pass blocker, and just dominant in the run. He has a great ability to get to the 2nd level while rush blocking. This video also showed me how much more I like Kyle Calloway on the RT side. He looks like a solid tackle, I would love to get them both, Buluga @ 9, and Calloway in the 4-6 round range.

True, I know he struggled with Graham. It's a give and take.
Who’s a better pass rusher Morgan or Graham, I’m not sure. If were talking about pure pass rushing skills I’m going to say goes Graham IMO. He had an OK game verse Graham also IMO. Does the video show that Kyle Calloway is a solid prospect, how do you feel about him?

Before we pass judgement on this film of Bulaga.
1.) Remember the Thyroid problem.
2.) Remember it is not all inclusive, it is simply is his best and worst plays.
3.) Look at the same films of the rest of the LT prospects this site has.

Also watch the WHOLE film for each player.
Bulaga’s worst play comes on the first play shown on his film, it is not that way with all the players.
Just want to give everyone a chance to make a more informed decision when comparing players based on a lowlight/highlight reel where this one on Bulaga comes from.

Yea, for coaches, this isn't
film but TV footage. Film is usually shot from one of the endzone cameras, to be able to see the entire field.

Correct again.
Most, if not close to all people on this site that post don’t have the luxury of access to the NFL film machines that each NFL team has.
But they do have access to youtube of television video, and while that doesn’t help much with seeing wide receivers and db downfield and what a QB might have missed, it is adequate for looking at OL and DL to assess an opinion.

Fair Enough.
You are correct, but it is the simple term to use when reviewing video off the internet,
The main point I wanted to get across was watch the other OT highlight/lowlight youtube videos before passing judgement on Bulaga since Bulaga’s worst lowlight came on the first play that is shown.
