haha Always gotta love a Southpark reference...
I read that article, and its good. It definitely is a pro-Clausen site… But its not bias in any means. It nothing but facts… which a lot of people tend to ignore.

Well I was already a huge Clausen fan
So I’m further convinced. I think this kid is a face player. And by face, I mean face of the Franchise.
That is why I posted it here.
But its not bias in any means. It nothing but facts…
I have not been a big Clausen guy, but I would love for the Clausen haters to dispute some of this stuff.
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
Im not going to lie, after reading that I started to like him a little more. I still think the lines need to be addressed before we figure out QB. But with Holmgren saying “It would take alot for me to draft Clausen” I think theres a good chance of him slipping to us…
… its not that I wasnt a Clausen fan, its just I hate ND and I think its put a bit of a blinder on me. But the kid can definitely play, just a matter if hes ready for it.
but 300, 400, 4 td, 3td, etc games are something we’ve been missing in Buffalo for years, and he could bring that….

in comparison
i know of another guy that his stats look like this (against not only ranked but top 5 BCS teams)
3-1. combined stats 83-112 (74%) 1176 (294 yards a gm) 9tds -3ints
who would you rather?

It depends on how talented the team was around him
What would Peyton Manning’s record be if he had played for the Bills the last 10 years?

Easy..... 70-90 :-)

Yes, Clausen did not have a good team or coaching staff.

I am saying that Tebow had more talented players (offense and defense) on his team
That is not a knock on Tebow, but if you are going to compare wins and losses it has to be considered.
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
I’d say they had similiar skill position weapons overall with Tebow consistently having good groups and Clausen going from poor to good to fantastic. Considering that Clausen put up by far his best season this past year, I’d have to give the edge to Clausen (and maybe by a lot) to Clausen in the talent he had to work with at the skill positions.
Over the course of their college careers, Tebow had a much better running game, although that changed this year. Impossible to really compare their coaching staffs because they did things so differenty. Obviously, Urban Meyer is a better football coach in general, but in terms of QB production, I’m not in the know enough to say one is necessarily better than the other.
Tebow’s defense was worlds better than Clausen and Tebow’s OL was also better than Clausen.
Obviously, things set up much, much better for Tebow to win football games, although I’m not sure it was any easier for one guy to have statistical success than the other, especially after Clausen’s freshman season.

Just look at each teams players that get drafted the past couple years.

But its not bias in any means
huh? It’s a sales pitch for Clausen, not an objective overview. I’m not disputing any stats that the guy listed, but it’s a Jimmy Clausen resume, not a scouting report. This guys version of the Clausen black eye incident doesn’t remotely resemble what I’ve read elsewhere, but only the few people that were there know for sure. Personally, I’m hoping Washington drafts him.
I didnt read it as biased at all… It was basically a list of stats and knowing what he had to work woth while he was there.

it’s certainly biased, if all it does it highlight his accomplishments and defend him against criticism. It’s one-sided, the definition of biased.
How is this bias?
We’re talking 34 career starts in his career, along with an additional six attempts against Georgia Tech in the 2007 season opener. In those 34 starts, Clausen threw for:
At least 240 yards 18 times.
More than 300 yards 10 times.
Greater than 400 yards 3 times.
Three-plus touchdowns 10 times (seven of which came in his first 22 starts – his freshman and sophomore seasons).
At least one touchdown in 13 consecutive games.
At least 246 yards in 13 of his last 15 games, including a current streak of eight straight games.
Clausen has completed at least 70 percent of his passes nine times (min. 18 attempts), including twice with 40-plus passing attempts. He has also thrown more touchdowns than incompletions twice in his career.
Clausen’s offensive line gave up a school-record 58 sacks in 2007.
At least three members of that offensive line were still starting his junior year.
Clausen had three different left tackles and three different centers over his collegiate career.
Clausen never shared a backfield with a 1,000-yard rusher.
No running back eclipsed 700 rushing yards while Clausen was at Notre Dame.
No running back had a run longer than 27 yards during Clausen’s final two years at Notre Dame.
No running back topped five rushing touchdowns during Clausen’s career.
The team as a whole never scored more than 13 rushing touchdowns.
Non-quarterbacks never accounted for more than 11 touchdowns in a season.
Clausen’s running game (excluding quarterbacks) averaged 3.56, 3.57, and 4.8 YPC during his career.
The stuff about imaturity are a little bias, because honestly we have no idea what happened outside that bar… But none of the things I listed from that page above are bias…

That's my lot in life, for you, this blog, and the Bills.
After the draft I’m not going to talk about Jimmy Clausen, unless we draft him of course, but we wont. Yea, sorry, to both gents, it was late and I had impaired judgement.

I'm bias when it comes to ND and the Bills
but I also think rationally. So, yes most of my Clausen post are biased becuase I feel that he’ll be a good NFL QB IMO. The article gives every reason why he is a good QB.

lol how are showing stats bias? Stats are not debatable… Saying that he has 3 400 yard games is bias?

because they are only showing facts that help to show clausen is good
i didnt see a mention of him being winless against ranked opponents in there….there are other stats that could be said to show clausen in a bad light, this article does not provide any of those.
i dont know how else to explain bias…..

I think some of points are a little overstated. Namely, the weapons he played with. It’s a great point that Clausen only had the full trio of Tate, Floyd and Rudolph for four games, but Tate and either one of the other two is still one of the best combos in the college game. It’s a legitimate concern that Clausen’s numbers might have been very inflated by the talent that was around him.
I do completely agree with his playing behind a bad OL though. Guys like Paul Duncan and Sam Young are pretty poor pass blockers on the outside and other than Eric Olsen, he was playing with either mediocre or young players on the inside.
And I’ve debated the “not a winner” point a bunch now, so I don’t exactly want to get in to it. But I will say again that I think claiming Clausen isn’t a winner based solely on his W-L record is crazy. Especially when those same people would love to add Locker.

My take on Clausen...
- His ND O-line: It was below average to bad. Thats going to help in in Buffalo. He took a lot of hits, stayed in the pocket and played pretty darn good behind a less the quality O-line
- The “He had great weapons” debate: No ones saying he didnt have good receivers, but you cant fault him for that. Thats like saying Joe Montana should deserve credit because he had Jerry Rice and Co. I think him having good weapons and the fact that he lived up to the “stats and numbers” while he was at school speaks volumes for him. It means he knows how to get the ball in his playmakers hands. … Duh thats what we want!!!…
- Not a winner: While he never brought home a Natl Champ, he did have a good record. Sure ND lost games they shouldnt have, but the dude was putting up points in all those, not his fault the Defense cant stop Syracuse, Navy, etc…
And we say all the time in the NFL its hard to win a SB, there is 31 other teams trying to do the same… well in NCAA there are over 116 teams…
- Hes cocky: Personally I like that. I like a cocky swagger to him. Not enough to where he thinks he is a God and deserves everything in the world. But I see a little Philip Rivers attitude in him, and I like that.
- I am not an ND fan at all, in fact I dont like them, mainly because the town I grew up in was 95% ND fans, and I didnt like that. But I think hes a better prospect than waiting for Locker next year. I think Clausen has a real shot of being the “Next Bills QB” lets just hope, if he is, then we wont be looking for another one for years…
