Schadenfreude
It's a slooow weekend here at Rumblings so I thought I'd throw (up) a quick feel-good-because-it-makes-others-feel-bad (man, schadenfreude is easier to type than some things...) story on the front page. PFT, by way of Joe Buck's favorite website, is reporting that Joey Porter has been arrested and
eventually charged with 3 misdemeanors -- DUI, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer.

Wouldn’t touch LeGarrette Blount. If you don’t know how to conduct yourself on the football field, you don’t belong on a football field.

He means for you to read the article.

i read it. i didn’t want to assume… because Jim Harbaugh broke his hand punching Jim Kelly. So, why would I have to change my name?
Thou shall not drinketh thy KoolAid...
i dont follow either
except that this article reminds me why Jim Harbaugh was awful.
He took a pounding? He stunk too.

If you are Pro Vick and Pro Lynch, then I don't see how you can hold Blount's behavior against him
I am not excusing Blount’s behavior, but I would rather take a chance on a guy who punched a guy in the mouth than a thief, drunk driving, hit and run leave a women to die in the street, pot smoking, illegal gun possessing RB or a dog fight promoting, bet on the winner, and kill the loser with your bare hands QB.

How many people here would have loved for us to get Albert Haynesworth when he was a FA?

Oh man
I hope AZ had a clause in the contract. I would have been very disappointed in OBD if they signed this guy.

Joey Porter never seemed interested anyhow
Is this situation that joyful where you’re enjoying the misfortune of those involved????

Where did you get the idea anyone was "joyful" Porter got in trouble?
Sure, we are glad the Bills dodged a bullet (granted we were never in any real danger) by not signing him, but I am not happy Porter got arrested. Of course, I don’t feel bad for him either. Personal responsibility is a bitch!

The whole schadenfreude part....
Finding joy in the misfortune of others…I didn’t realize it was specifically for the Cards only. And yes, he should get whatever he deserves. I just don’t get the whole point of this, I suppose….

Must there be a point?
Basically, someone other than the Bills screwed the pooch by signing Porter. Revel in it.

IMO....
1) Alcohol and football (actually many sports) have been together probably since the creation of the PB&J sandwich. Not just the players but also the fans (myself included). You might say, it’s even encouraged through all the beer advertising. Unfortunately, some people don’t know when enough is enough and get behind the wheel (which I have been guilty of in the past). The funny thing is, if they’re so serious about stopping DUI or DWI they could probably arrest half the attendees of sporting events.
2) Giving kids coming outta college, esp. those who declare eligible early in drafts, these multi-million dollars contracts and expecting them to behave is insane. What do you really think they’re gonna do? Party like its 1999! A lot of these kids had poor upbringing and are not taught responsibility. So to some degree, I do not entirely fault the athletes for bad behavior.
3) However, after being in the league a number of yrs. (Mr. Porter) you do supposed to grow up. Some do and some don’t. Randy Moss seems to have grown in NE, after being a hell raiser. I think that’s why I’m a bit intrigued by Vick’s second chance in the league. Some people need to hit their bottom to change their ways. He stated he took his job for granted in ATL and how McNabb taught him a lot about being responsible. I appreciate the honesty, although it pissed off a great many, but it is a sign of growing up and being responsible for your actions. I think he’s still got talent and just needed his head screwed on the right way and work out the rust. I think that was the thinking in Philly. It will be interesting to see how things work out as the saga continues….
