Browns Cut Anderson
Just saw on espn.com that that Browns cut Derek Anderson. He's probably the best free agent option available at the position now, perhaps potential-wise. I'm sure someone else might be posting this as I speak... if so I apologize. Anderson had a productive season in Cleveland, but I'm not sure I'd bring him in unless there was a minimal investment (money and years). One thing is for sure, he's got the arm necessary to throw in Buffalo winters.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

And Oh Yeah
What’s the difference b/w a fanshot and a fan post… cuz I always forget to look down there

A fanshot is typically a link to another story and a short comment
But a fanpost usually involves more discussion, analysis, and opinion.

Yes
Anderson could be Edwards backup and get rid of the rest of the clowns because they are taking up space.
Edwards fails then put in Anderson.
In two years we can have are eyes on the USC quarterback Barkley.
So get th eteam set for then.
I would even trade L.Evans to his hometown Cleveland if I could get their 2nd rd pick in this years draft.
There
are almost no similarities between Kelly Holcomb and Derek Anderson other than they both played for Cleveland

No!
Anderson is horrible. He had more of an opportunity in Cleveland than Trent did with us.
This is nothing personal toward Foreign Arrow, but why does someone have to put up a post or fan shot every time a player (no matter how worthless) is released?
I am not a Troy Smith fan, but I would much rather sacrifice a 5th round pick for him than sign Anderson. We already know, or should know, that Anderson is terrible.
I could be wrong, but Anderson did beat us last year with a net of 2 yards passing, didn’t he?

That was the one Bills game I went to in person this year, and many of Anderson’s throws didn’t just miss by a bit, they were completely uncatchable.
If you think Trent Edward’s confidence has been ruined by bad coordinators, no O-line, and being swapped in and out of the lineup, take it from someone who lived in Cleveland for the Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn era that, while he has arm strength, he’s very inaccurate and is just as big a risk as putting Trent behind center.
I put it up
to see if people were interested in Anderson. Don’t like it… don’t comment. Whether or not you think Anderson is terrible, the Bills feel they need a QB… so don’t be surprised if Anderson shows up in Buffalo for a FA visit.

UGH!
He’s got a big arm, but a small brain. Throws too many picks. I live in the Cleveland area, and the fans around here always know that it’s only a matter of time before “bad Derek” show his ugly head and throws a winnable game away. Nobody missing him here. Nobody should be wanting hin at OBD.

I love signing Anderson
Obviously he’s not the quarterback of the future. But who is? Lefevour? Pike? Snead? C’mon!
Sign Anderson (He has one year left for $7.45 million, which I believe is still valid, right? I don’t know. I wouldn’t sign him for more than three years and I’d prefer less.) The fan base doesn’t riot. And if/when he sucks (or even if he doesn’t), draft Locker or Mallet who truly are the quarterbacks of the future. How is this a bad plan? How is it worse than wasting a draft pick on a third round quarterback?
I mean honestly, who would you rather have: Vick or Anderson?

I'd sign him
The ‘UFA crop this year at QB is weak, and he’s the best available now. He’s had a successful season as well.
He’s not the long term answer, but could be a good back-up, especially if we draft a QB soon.

Reasoning
I wrote this at work but have some time now to explain.
Anderson played very well for Cleveland in 2007. He outdueled Carson Palmer in his first start, winning 51-45, throwing 5 TD’s. The rest of Anderson’s season was very good… good enough to keep rookie Brady Quinn on the bench and for Cleveland to give Anderson a new contract.
2008 started really bad for Anderson… he suffered from a concussion in the pre-season, and never really truly got on track the rest of the season. Somewhat similar to Edwards in 2008.
After 2008, the Browns deconstructed their offense under Mangini. Winslow and Edwards were traded, and the tires fell off Jamal Lewis. Not too many QB’s are going to succeed in that environment.
With that, I think Anderson could do well here. He’s proven that he can play well and lead a team for an entire season, something that no current Bills QB can do. He’s got a good arm and can throw in the wind. I’m not sure on his leadership skills or his ability to play well as the focal point of the team, vis a via, the city.
But he’s far better than our current options.

rec'd......and the fact neither Anderson or Quinn is Holmgren's or Mangini's guy has to be factored in
The Browns must be eye a QB in this year’s draft….Clausen in the first or Tebow in the second. Sounds familiar :-)
A married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing!
Sorry you’re getting these types of responses, Foreign. I think the discussion warrants more than a simple response.
Anderson’s the type of QB that can succeed in Buffalo, but he’ll need a lot of help. That said, I’m not averse to giving him a short-term deal to see how a change of scenery suits him.

My only
concern would be creating an absolute log-jam of unknown commodities at QB… because I’m sure Gailey will want to add a QB in the draft. Brohm better not be the odd-man-out… that would really chap my ace.
That said, the more the merrier at QB. Fitzgerald needs to be an afterthought… having guys with a ceiling at the cellar on the roster is kind of a pet peeve of mine, particularly at QB.

I agree with Brian. Give him a shot in Buffalo if the price is right. Let him compete with Trent.
I like Fitz but he is bound to be an NFL back up in perpetuity.
I also say dump Brohm (sorry Brohm lovers but I agree with the Packers) and bring in a rookie from the mid rounds…a rookie who hasn’t had his brain fried like the guys on our roster that might develop the way Trent should have had it not been for the scramble job that our leadership has done to the poor guys head.
I voted no
Anderson’s been Edwards-like bad these last two years…even his breakout season of 2007 featured a good amount of picks…If I had it my way, Buffalo would idtentify a young veteran that hasn’t really had a chance to prove himself yet as 2010’s QB to act as a lottery ticket as well as draft a QB they believe they can develop into a Pro Bowler (I would think that means someone in the first two rounds)…I’d put Edwards and Fitzpatrick out of their misery. I’d lik to stay away from the garbage bin at the QB position (unlike RT).
Just say no...to Trent Edwards at QB.
i mean we can bring hum in for competition
but we cant be afraid to cut him preseason
"Hold ya chin up...nuh nuh nuh...gone" -Marshawn Lynch-
Heard on the radio the Cardinals were targetting him
If I were Anderson, I’d rather play with Fitzgerald and Breaston than Evans and Hardy.
And in the crappy NFC West.....

I voted yes...
he seems to have the physical tools to play the position and although he has moments of disaster, he is certainly an upgrade over Fitz (whom I actually think is an ok QB)……. Let Anderson & Trent battle for this year’s starting position while Brohm develops or a later round prospect QB seasons….. wouldn’t be a terrible thing

What do we have to lose bringing him in?
He is the best available QB out there at the moment.
Can he be any worse than what we have at the moment?
Or maybe there are too many bills fans who would hate to have a Pro Bowl QB on the roster?
The past is fixed, the future is unknown, try dealing with the present!
Sign Anderson for 2 years/6 mill
Have him slug it out with Trent and Ryan in Training camp, and worry about LT, WR, DT and LB in the first 4 rounds of the draft.
Derek has all the talent in the world. He was one of the highest rated QB's coming out of high school .
But he depends tries to make to many plays early on in his college and pro career, which lead to many pick. With the rght coaching his career can be salavged I just don’t want it to be with the Bills
