Orlando Sentinel: The Tim Tebow-Buffalo Bills relationship appears strong
"Apparently Tebow didn’t disappoint in his meetings with the Bills staff.
Will Tim Tebow hold up a Buffalo Bills jersey next week?
George Cortez, the quarterbacks coach of the Bills, was an assistant coach at Rice University in the late 70s alongside Craig Howard, Tebow’s former high school coach at Jacksonville Nease.
Well, Cortez called his old buddy Howard and raved about Tebow’s visit.
'He said he was so impressed by Timmy’s knowledge of the game,' Howard said. 'He gave me the impression that his visit to Buffalo couldn’t have gone better. It sounds like they really hit it off.'"

I wouldn't mind the bills drafting Tebow...just not with the 9th pick overall
Trade down, so you can still get him late in the first, then get an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder out of it
the server responsible for this site will blow up 15 minutes after that pick comes in…..
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.

No, there are. I’m saying that if we take Rumblings down, then we need to take the whole thing down.

I guarantee you that if we go down at least a few others go down. i’m sure they have load balancing within their clusters but it depends on the amount of traffic generated at one time. we could easily do a DOS on accident because everyone and their mother from other blogs would come to us as well if we were to take tebow at 9.
depends on their setup – i’m sure their running a few T3’s with some seriously beefy boxes – but you generate a massive amount of sessions in a short period of time then it could easily happen.
so no tebow at 9!!! for SBnation’s health

Did anyone see the Gruden Tebow thing on ESPN?
I have to admit, Tebow’s release looks great. The one drill he was calling a “hot potato” drill was perfect to see that the release is starting to become natural for him. I think another year working with pro coaches, he may be ready.
i saw it.
Great video. and i agree that hot potato drill looked veryy good for Tim, nice indication of his progress so far.

I'm not saying I'm a huge Tebow fan
but the man does make you want to run through a brick wall for him (because you know he’ll be running right next to you). There’s many who pretend to be something they’re not but he “seems” genuine and there’s not too many veterans who wouldn’t respect that. He’s got some potential Ray Lewisesque leadership qualities about him. Now if he can just generate results on the field…

Hopefully Tebow won’t allegedly kill someone in Atlanta too
Being a Bills fan the last decade is a lot like being a man with E.D....sometimes you get excited too soon just be disappointed in the end, and other times...you just don't get excited at all
Impressive
His motion looks very good. Quick, no hitch (which he had at times during his pro day).

not another decade…. each QB can have you wasting about 3 years of time trying to make them into a decent player (look at Edwards, JP, etc.) so if Tebow doesn’t work, than that is that. However, if for whatever reason we can’t make him work, he may still garner some value across the league for a trade
It is Brohm’s Bills jersey that is the least stained with doo-doo... GO BILLS
seriously
list of qbs the bills have gone through since 2000
doug flutie, rob johnson, alex van pelt, drew bledsoe, JP, holcomb, TE, BB and fitzy. one more to the list wont set them back 10 years….

exactly
and Flutie was the best of all IMO, and if we just would have let him start… forget it…
Anyway, yeah, 2-4 years per qb… so not a decade

Whether its true or not
I haven’t seen recent college successes turned bust or near bust have that kind of fire for football. Even some of the NFL radio guys I have respect for might question his potential skills at the NFL level, they never question his passion for the game. Most notably, one caller was calling TT out as a media whore and questiioned his passion for the game… it was BS, and they put them in their place

Ha, awesome. Anyway, I know I was being drastic on that comment. A bad QB @ 9 will only set back 2-4 years, maybe 5.

I’d rather lose 5 years on a first round QB then lose another year on Edwards, then a couple years on some 4th round prospect, then a couple more on some mediocre vet they acquire in a trade, etc… Sooner or later, you have to take that risk. You’ve got to take a QB early or pull off a trade for somebodies else’s potential filled backup or you’re giving yourself far worse odds at success than a first round QB would.

It's not an if with Tebow
It’s when. The Bills would have to be sneaky if they want to get him. Probably would need a pick in the mid to late 20’s to get him
"I don't agree with a damn thing you say, but I would die for your right to say it."
"If I had to do it all over again, I'd do it all over again."
thats why they should just grab him at 9 if they want him
why lose a pick to grab a guy you can get at 9… I know it would help if the scouts had a sure-fire impact player they could take at 41… and I know everyone wants a tackle, but lets just see. I think if they want him, its a #15 Bills jersey at the 9th pick, and it might come right down from Ralphie himself, who might find some solace in starting his team’s success, and perhaps ending his regin, with a QB wearing 15

"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."
I DO NOT advocate that they select him, but
If CHIX wants him THAT BAD in the 1st round, they better trade back from 9 to the middle or late 1st round and at least get a 2nd rounder as compensation.
Who thinks he will be there at 41......
Just curious……
If not then what would we need to do to get him and at what number?
Not that i am for or against him but i wanna know the price or the ball park of the price…
I don’t. I think that many teams know that the Bills like him and 41 is now the mark to get Tebow before if you want him. I can’t believe that the Bills are the only ones who like him and that a team will trade up and get him before 41….even if that team is Buffalo.
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
not at all
considering we’ll pick him :)

I just have to say one thing that I never understood. Now Im not a pro or anti Tebow, or any other guys really. But what I never got is people who say player X isnt worth the #9 pick, but that same player is worth a #20 overall. Now to my understanding, for the most part, everyone has one pick per round, in the same spot, every round. The first round is the first round. You have to take the player before he is picked. So to say well if we had the 23rd pick then yes to Tebow, but not at the #9… well we only have the #9 before the 23rd… so guess what you have to take him at the #9. Now obviously there are trades, but that doesnt always work out and you have to give up other things for those picks.
Idk if this makes sense at all to anyone else… but if someone could please explain to me the rational behind that I would love to hear it.
"Its always Miller Time
Whens it gonna be Sabres-Offense Time?"
- by Jsz on Mar 3, 2010 6:25 PM PST
The rationale is that if a GM has a strong hunch that the guy he wants will be available 5, 10 , or however many picks after his original pick, and some other team really wants the 9th spot because they want to pick a certain player before another team does, then the two teams might be able to swap picks. And why not? If you give up the 9th pick for the 20th pick and you get Tebow + an additional 2nd rounder for moving back thats great! We’ll take all the extra picks we can get.
The only thing is that its not 100% guaranteed that the player you’re hoping will fall back to you will actually be there.
Not only that … but spot in the draft makes a huge difference for how much $$$ you have to pay a player to sign him. Especially a QB…in the first round…

Picking Tim Tebow at #9
is fine with me. Who’s to say that any other pick at #9 would pan out or not? Tim Tebow has all the physical talent and “intangibles” necessary to play in the NFL. He seems to be a man of character; see the link. :)

come on
there’s nothing wrong with that. If the coolness1 feels that his morals and code of ethics are strong and equate to a confident, intelligent, trustworthy and successful person, why wouldn’t he want that? It’s just like all the Buffalo poles going ga-ga over Poz… its just how it is

but Poz was coming out as a sure fire LB. Tebows not a sure fire QB. I dont really want to go here because I know how sensative of a subject it is… but you cant base your players on what religion and everything they are. If they are the same as you then its a plus. But if Bradford practiced Buddhism and STL doesnt take him because the owner isnt Buddhist then thats crazy talk. I think thats where NDgrad was goin there

I think the point he was making is in reference to character, which a lot of these college guys come up short on. High character undoubtedly means less off field problems & less FO headaches. And IMO (here I go again) should be a factor in drafting a person. BTW, character is shown in many ways others than just being religious.
Thank you, lets not get into religion, I'm about 1 out 5 people at ND that are Greek Orthodox, I was joking.

might be crazy on a personnel level, but if a FAN feels that a players traits, whatever they may be, off the field connects with him/her in some way, and therefore they feel that those will reflect positively on the field… so be it. Forget the sarcasm that ND puked onto his subject line with the “,wow”

All the guys who were soooooooo Anti-Tebow earlier have now had time to look up a little more and read a few articles on how in-love CHIX and now Cortez is with Tebow and NOW all a sudden wouldn’t be too upset if we took him at 9. The same guys who said a week or 2 ago they wouldnt take Tebow in the 3rd round!!! haha either way I like this read and it makes no difference to me where we get Tebow as long as we get him!

At 9 is a different situation for me. Maybe a trade up (which I would be against) or @ 41, if we take him @ 9, I'll be upset. That's just dumb.
The place in the draft we get him matters to me, there’s a reason people have draft charts and big boards, so they wont be over-reaching, why pull a McCargo just becuase of the potential drop-off in talent after a player. Draft by need, within the framework of where a player is going, generally.

He won’t last til 41 and of course the ideal situation is to take him as far back as you possibly can but there is no way to know for sure when he will go. Other teams could try and trade up to get him, and let’s not write off the Jags on taking him at pick 10 which is still a very real possibility. All I’m saying is that if they believe he is their guy and don’t believe that he will be there later in the first I wouldn’t mind them taking him at 9.

i still have the same concerns about him and those have yet to be answered by anybody. Fixing his motion is great but is he taking anytime to look at NFL style defenses and work on his reads and such? I’m still not sure about that but I guess time will tell if I have a legit concern or not.

The point I was
trying to make is that I believe Tim Tebow’s faith (and upbringing, of course) is what molded his character. Thank you biknites, killascript and others. :)
As biknites said, there are many college players (and NFL, and all sports, everywhere for that matter) with character issues. Big Ben, Santonio Holmes, Marshawn, etc., etc. to name a few. We hope they can correct them; we’re all a work in progress. :)
Tim Tebow would make a great Bills QB. We can only hope that whomever the Bills pick will turn out to be a good choice.
