Teams In AFC east keep getting better but bills.
Bills need some help, not every other team in our division!!!
But as if 2 hrs a go patriots have added Tory Holt, and Jets Have added unbelievably Jason taylor, confirmed by Adam Schefter.
So jets have added cromartie, taylor, LT, and Santonio Holmes in the offseason.
Pats, well are the pats, and now have a declining, but still fast tory holt.
Phins, made a huge splash with signing IMO the best Wideout in the league, and probaly the best linbacker in Marshall, and Dansby.
How Do we compete with that, and pats have like a billion draft picks?
Is there any hope for bills fan for the next 3-5 years?

Well
If your that upset, dont watch football. Take the season off or something. Because were rebuilding not reloading. And this rebuild is long overdue.
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
Impossible
The bills can lose all 16 games(hopefuuly not), And ill still watch and wait every week for the next one. Football and Buffalo Bills is a big part of life for me. Does the world revolve without football, i dont think so! and its not that im upset, as much as envious. But im still a true and loyal fan that will stick with the bills, so i guess i kinda take your statement above “If your upset, dont watch football.” offensive. Cause i can’t , andwont stop watching the bills.

Well if you found the suggestion to take a step back for a season offensive
Then your far to tightly wound about all this.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
patriots added a formerly great and now (very) aged receiver and resigned some good players that were already on their team. is this a big deal? not really.
jets added jason taylor (very old, definitely lost a step), LT (lost a step, pretty old, got pounded earlier in the decade), cromartie (a boom-or-bust CB who has off-field issues) and holmes (who was about to get cut by his team because of his terrible attitude issues and off-field issues).
phins got marshall, who is bloody awesome, and dansby, who is very good.
phins have done well, adding two starters. pats have stayed the same, adding a number four wideout. we’ve improved by adding two, possibly three starters. hopefully only two =)
i’m one to say that the jets didn’t improve or got worse with every signing they did. i’d take thomas jones over LT any day of the week. taylor’s keeping other guys off the field who have a chance to succeed. i’ll bet that taylor’s situational at best by the end of the season. holmes theoretically might not see the field this year for the jets if he screws up again. cromartie’s in the same boat.

You're going to get ripped for this post . . .
. . . but you raise a good point that’s worth keeping in mind during this festive season.
In evaluating our offseason I think it’s important to grade us in relation to the other teams in our division. Not all of the pick-ups you mention were good (Holt and LT are definitely past their prime, but may be rejuvenated a bit in better offensive systems), but some of them definitely were. I think Cromartie and Holmes were steals for the Jets. Miami certainly improved in getting Dansby and Marshall. And as you point out, New England has a billion draft picks.
Are we going to be better, at least on paper, going in to this season than we were last year? Well, duh. We picked up a couple of useful guys, and we’ll add some players in the draft. But if the Jets, Pats, and Phins all get even better, so what? We’re not building in a vacuum while everyone else sits on their red buttons wating until we’re competitive again.
Yeah, you’re going to hear all the talk about how we’re building through the draft and we’re not going to waste our time with free agency, etc. But is our draft going to be that much better than the other teams in our division? Guess we’d better hope! That’s a “contrast and compare” post I hope to see someone do post-draft.
we’re not going to waste our time with free agency,
Will use FA witness Green,Davis, and Edwards. But where not going to be agressive in FA. Where not close enough to be aggresive. But adding 3 potential starters in Fa, is a very good haul for any team.

grahhhhh
im getting so frustrated with the Bills are getting left in the dust idea. Answer honestly if you really would have been happy to have Torry Holt or if you would have joined me and I would expect 80% of the other posters here in cringing over the fact that we signed a down and out and clearly finished Torry Holt. The guy has NO LEGS left.
Who are these players the other teams are adding?
The Jets: Cromartie (young DeAngelo Hall, makes big plays but gets burned three times for every big play he makes, trouble maker), LT (aging and rapidly declining, is replacing the AFCs leading rusher so is in fact a true downgrade for the Jets), Jason Taylor (going to be 36 years old, what purpose would he have served in Buffalo? A one year mediocre wonder?), Santonio Holmes (a good gamble but a gamble nonetheless, people said the same thing about Braylon Edwards last year and he didnt break open the division)
The Pats: Torry Holt (TDs over the last four years in order 10, 7, 3, 0. Thats right ZERO Tds last year! His legs are gone)
The Phins: Now here are some great upgrades, they are giving a young franchise QB hopeful the best young WR in the league and adding a talented LB to their defense.
So outside of the Dolphins who lost both their starting OLBs in the process, what is the big deal? Let me tell you what I see in the moves made by the Jets and Pats. I see two teams that were playoff teams but who get the feeling that times are desperate. The Pats are aging and declining and more and more holes are emerging in their roster. They are throwing some old time stars who are a shell of their former selves and hoping something sticks to give them a push to get them over the hump one last time. The Jets snuck into the playoffs at 9-7 and ONLY because two teams laid down and handed them the wins they needed to get in to the misery of the far more deserving Houston Texans. The Jets know they will not have the adrenaline rush of a first year under Rex Ryan, that teams will be studying their moves and film ten times harder then they did last year and gunning for them as AFC title game competitors, and are aware their offensive line has three guys aging, a defense that is aging in the front 7 and which did not generate much pressure, and a young QB who will be asked to do more and more with Thomas Jones gone (which makes Santonio a good play). The Jets are hoping to ride the momentum of last year and get that title while they can – you dont think they know they arent as good as where they finished the season? Another desperate play.
The Bills are trying to build a franchise to last and a team to be competitive for years much like the Patriots did before us. We are not trying to get over any hump in desperation. I would have been pretty furious if the Bills spent money on Torry Holt, LT, and Jason Taylor. Instead we need to establish a foundation and we signed two guys on defense who can provide us a base with which to learn a 3-4, two guys who have as much experience in the system as any players in the league in Davis and Edwards. Cornell Green wasnt flashy but he adds a body to an offensive line in shambles.
Let the Jets and Pats sign these guys, despite their desperation they are still teams that should be acknowledged for having a shot and for that they deserve praise, but if we build ourselves with an eye to our rivals we’ll never build anything thats going to last. Let them fight it out now, it will make it that much more satisfying when we blindside them when they realize they are weak and we are strong 3-4 years from now.

But . . . but . . .
Yes, players like Holt, LT, and Taylor are definitely pieces that have been picked up for a year to see if they can help. Given that the Jets and Pats are playoff contention teams though, those are moves you can understand.
But . . .
The other teams in our division are all on the downhill slide, and are going to be passed by us in 3-4 years? Huh? The Jets have a very promising core of young players in key positions . . . these guys are going to be washed up in three years? Miami is entering the third year of a rebuilding plan. Have they peaked already? New England is rebuilding too, in the last couple of years ditching a bunch of veterans and picking up draft picks. Two seconds this year, two firsts next year . . . they’re not going to be around three or four years from now? The Jets and Pats added a few vets this offseason because they think they’re on the bubble, not because they’re desperate. All the teams in our division are “trying to build a franchise to last and a team to be competitive for years”! I just don’t see a window closing on any of these teams anytime soon. I’m looking at three other teams that are all in different stages in the process of rebuilding.
I’m not saying this to be all doom and gloom. But you gotta have some respect for your opponents. They’re not morons who are going to wake up to the fact that we’ve stolen a march on all of them three years from now. There’s no guarantee we’re even going to draft better than them in that time.
You don't rebuild for the long haul with free agents
Dwan Edwards may prove the exception to this rule, but i’m very glad that this organization didn’t try and land the flash. I’m VERY excited they did get Edwards though.

Expecting the Bills to make big signings in FA and avoid rebuilding is what has kept them out of the playoffs and in the dregs for the last 10 years.
So what are the chances for an Avalanche vs. Sabres finals, eh?
