I wanted to take a minute to thank the Buffalo Rumblings readership at large for not only making 2010 NFL Draft weekend a fun one, but also by FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR the biggest three-day period in Rumblings history.
Heading into draft weekend, we typically averaged about 14,000 unique visitors per day, and about 32,200 page views per day. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we averaged 27,600 and 78,700, respectively. I lost count on comments, new users and new FanPosts at about 7:36 PM EST Thursday night.
We want more. Tell your friends. Spread the word. Rumblings is a veritable monster now, and it's because y'all are awesome.
We Need Help
As Rumblings grows, so does the demand for new material. As a result, so shrinks my free time, and while I love this place and love talking Bills football, sometimes, a man needs an hour or two to catch a flick, ya dig?
So we're looking for help. We'd like help in the following areas:
Moderators: You'll help us keep the site free of what we might call "Ralph Wilson Stadium bathroom language," help keep the discussions civil, and help calm Jason from OH-IO down when Tom Modrak doesn't get fired, and/or norcaliangelsfan when Chan Gailey wins 12 games with the Bills. We're looking for folks who are here a lot and value intelligent discussion.
Writers: I was a journalism student once. There is tremendous value in just straight-up writing. If you're an aspiring journalist, blogger, writer, whatever, and have a passion for the Bills, this place is already designed for you - that's why the FanPost section exists. We're not exclusively looking for aspiring journalists - I'm fairly certain exactly zero of the current editorial staff fit that bill - we'll take any and all fans that can pen coherently and have a lot to say. We are currently targeting people who want to write about a specific role; as examples, MRW does daily links and his own feature articles, sireric does his trivia feature, Kurupt does his Top 50 Bills series, Ron From NM breaks down the O-Line and Der Jaeger/kaisertown discuss football philosophy and the NFL Draft. Each staff member has a niche, and if there's a niche you feel is uncovered and are capable of doing so yourself, let us know.
NOTE: I realize I already have discussed with a few of you the fact that you'd like to write; if you haven't heard from me in a while on that and would like to re-iterate your desire to write for us, it will probably benefit you to bump that thread up in my email Inbox. :)
Couch scouts: If there's anyone out there that spends their Saturdays parked on a couch watching college football, and if any of that group know what they're talking about when it comes to deciding whether or not a college football player is good, let us know. Right now, our scouting staff is coming off a rookie season in which most of our work was lost, and it was good work, but we'd like to expand our scouting staff and get as many opinions as possible. During the season, we run weekly draft articles, and obviously this time of the year the draft dominates the discussion. If you want to help us improve our draft coverage, let us know - even if you're not interested in writing, and just want to help our staff evaluate college games.
We'll consider any and all applicants, folks. This blog is as much yours as it is mine, and it's the right time of the year to make this place better. Y'all are capable of doing that, so if you're interested, just drop me a line!
