Bills should not take an OT at #9

By the time Buffalo picks at #9 it is likely that they would be lucky to get the 4th best OT in the draft. Detroit, Washington, Kansas City, Seattle, and Oakland are all interested in using atop 10 pick on an OT. Washington and Seattle are less interested in a top tier QB because of pre-draft trades. A safe bet would be that at lease 3 of the 5 times listed will select an OT before the Bills pick at 9. Even if only 2 are off the board it would be unwise to select the 3rd best player at his position with a top ten pick (not to mention the 4th best).

Buffalo would be wise to either attempt a trade (possibly a 2nd round pick for a player like Gaither or McNeil) or sign someone like Flozell Adams. That would give them the ability to draft the best player available, an elite talent at QB, DT, or LB instead of reaching for a player because of a need.

My recommendation would be to sign Adams and keep all of the picks. Here are my picks for rounds 1 through 3 in this scenario.

Round 1 Jimmy Clausen QB, Dan Williams NT, Derrick Morgan DE/OLB, Brandon Graham OLB

Round 2 Tim Tebow QB, Jerry Hughes OLB, Cam Thomas NT, Charles Brown OT

Round 3 Jordan Shipley WR, Sam Young OT, Ed Dickson TE , Rod Muckelroy LB
