I took a look at the 2009 NFL draft and according to where players were taken - I created this draft. This is strictly a mock draft for the Bills - no other teams.
Enjoy the read
- ROUND 1 PICK 11: Michael Oher (OT) - Mississippi
Jason Peters is traded. The offensive line is in shambles, and the LT position is a desperate need. Buffalo has a franchise LT to protect Trent Edwards. Michael's movie also brings some more positive attention to Buffalo. - ROUND 1 PICK 28: Everette Brown (DE) - Florida State
Buffalo needs to improve their pass rush - especially with Schobel and Kelsay aging. Brown has great burst and will be a perfect fit for Fewel's defensive scheme. - ROUND 2 PICK 38: Jarius Byrd (DB) - Oregon
Some would call this a reach, but Byrd is the type of ball hawking, play making defensive back that the Bills need in a difficult division. Whitner can kick to strong safety. - ROUND 2 PICK 51: Andy Levitre (G) - Oregon State
Buffalo continues with rebuilding their offensive line by taking the best available guard. The bills have created a solid left side for the future.
How much difference the first round of a draft can create. If the Bills had taken the players selected above in the first round - there offensive lineman issues would not be so great going into the 2010 season. Brown although young, would have prospered in Fewel's 4-3 defense with his quick burst. Would be a great rotation with Schobel and Kelsay. Levitre is already a future stud, and as is Jarius Byrd.
