IMO new coaching staffs have the greatest impact on a team...We have talent and there is no reason to think that our offense can not improve by being a run based offense that can control the clock
if F. Jackson gets 225 rushes and M. Lynch gtes 225 rushes and CJ Spller gets 150 rushes and they all get 20-30 catches thatsthe offense right there in a nut shell, short passes and runs. We wont burn out Spiller overloading his small frame and he will last a longer time in the NFL used sparingly which is what he is built for.
We also have an underrated gem in Lee Evansand with any luck we can get some production out of M Easley,J Hardy or S. Johnson . Maybe even S. Nelson can have a good second year on a better offense.
A lot hinges on our Offensive line tho in any scenario. So we will need a healthy return of E.Wood and A Levitre will have to build on his rookie campaign. We will need a better performance form G Hangartner. Cornell Green is not the most athletic Linemen in the world at his age and that may have contributed to his lack of success in Oaklands zone blocking scheme. What i do know is that two years Oakland had a great running game and he was a part of it. All od our players will be asked to do more run b locking this year and that may improve there overall play. I also think that the sheme was poorly conceived because it required alot of deeper patter ns whcih required more time to develop. I dont think Gailey wil be as foolish and i think that more 3 and 5 step drops will limt the amount of pressure on our QB's
Our defense will need to be solid as well and i think we can count on our corners to be solid in man to man coverage allowing for more blitzes and pressure packages there is no point in having fast and solid cover guys if u always play in zone coverage. Aarron Maybin will get a long look at rush backer and this will be his make or break season essentially. He is fast enough to be sent on blitzes and stunts so I think he can definately become a solid rusher. We have solid players up front with our draft picks and through FA and K Williams and M. Stroud will be good in a rotation.
A. Davis will allow us more depth at ILBand as a solid two down player, while K Mitchell when he returns can play in nickel coverages. We need Arthur Moats to step up and fill a role as a depth player and thats asking alot of a sixth rounder but we donthave a lot of depth at OLB.
The Bills play in the best division in the NFL right now but i really think that we will be solid as long as we continue on the path were headed on. We are building a team of hard working, team players. We have the right defense in place now and a good coach running the offense. We also need to try and bring in another LT to compete i dont care if its Tra Thomas or Levi Jones or anyone like that just a vet who can be a stop gap if things dont go well for our young players. I also think that trading for Jared Gaither is a great move if he can signed to a longer deal before hand. He is 24 and a building block for the future. He is definitely worth a 2 and 4. He would instantly change the talent level of our team and add credibility in the fanbase for Nix and Gailey. Losing those draft picks would be a hard pill to swallow but we can try and recoup one by moving a player for at least a 4th .
