Thoughts of OTA's so far.
I just wanted to make a thread here so we can discuss different things people might have noticed throughout OTA's so far, so that no other threads get highjacked.
First thing I noticed. Ellis Lankster. Hes been in on the highlight videos just about everyday, either breaking up a pass or picking it off. Hes done a pretty ncie job during the OTA's so far from what we've seen and had a nice diving INT the other day. I'd like him to get a spot on this team.
Tightends over the middle. Ive noticed alot of passes to the TE either crossing routes or up the seam. I like it, I love the use of a TE... and while Nelson isnt there right now, when hes in I could see him doing very well in the seam.
McKelvin looks to be playing with that 'swagger.' Hes flying around, making plays. Keep it up.
The QB's have been throwing a pretty good deep ball from what Ive seen so far. Brohms looks the smoothest, but Trents not throwing it too bad deep.
Roscoe seems to be a different person since Chans taken over. Theres been a few stories of him on BB.com and around... but you can just tell hes different by watching him play. The run after the catch seems to be working pretty well for him.
Poz. Also flying around all over. Obviously most the 7 on 7 is passing so hes dropping back alot, but he seems to be right around the ball everytime its in the middle of the field.
Last thing... Felton Huggins seems to be finding some openings in the defense. He'll help himself out tons if he can put a little something together as a WR this year, hes been used strickly as a ST gunner in the past... but adding some WR play will make it easier for him to make the team.
Feel free to add things youve noticed, players you like, dont like, etc...
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I like what i have seen
Lankster – he has a good tendency to be around the ball, but it must be noted that he is playing against 2nd and 3rd teams. Last year when he was picking off passes in pre-season, it was not against the starters. I still like him as a project and depth but I think he is still greatly overmatched against most WR.
Love Poz this year and his new responsibilities.
Love McKelvin and his energy this year
Love the possibilities with S. Nelson this year

True, regarding Lankster. Still good to see him flyin all over and getting his hands on the ball. He ripped a ball out of someones hands in the endzone on wednesday… nice, strong play.

definitely think the last CB spot will be between Sargeant and Lankster.
darkhorse chance they both make it if Youboty is cut.
Draft Eric Decker in the 3rd!!! Eric Decker > Jordan Shipley > Arrelious Benn

well Youboty has no ties anymore with DJ gone
he will have to play well to stay.
I see Lankster over Sarg

I see Lankster over Sargeant too, and I agree with neverbeentobuffalo, Youboty has a good chance of being cut.
Ive had the Bills tattoo but just got the Sabres one done 6.16 ... see the avatar.
Lets Go Buffalo!!
I say the darkhorse scenario has a larger chance of materialising than we think.

Wouldn't it be great
To get some actual offensive production from Roscoe this season?
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
Im hoping.
Im not holding my breath… but I think Gailey finds a way to use him… or thats what I want to happen anyways haha.

Just finding a way to get Parrish the ball in space
In front of the Line of Scrimmage would do wonders for his career.

im just afraid that hes playing so well because of the minimal contact; once he starts getting hit and remembering that he’s a third the size of the monsters hitting him i dont know if hes not gonna look as confident going over the middle
MAYBE this will break the mold , we need to come to play sunday and this year we will not SURRENDER TO KNOW ONE THIS IS BUFFALOOO Godzilla nation

I don't want to stir the pot, but...
I can’t remember but maybe once seeing Maybin making a play or putting pressure on the QB. I could be wrong. But, it is concerning that he can’t get pressure on a QB in “touch” 11 on 11 drills. I’m sure stuff gets dropped in the editing room but, where’s the improvement from our “#1” pass rusher.
Its kind of tough to get a pass rush going during 7 on 7… its basically a offensive drill, obviously there is a defense… but I think most of it is used for offense and pass defense (dropping into coverage, playing the man/ball, not looking to sack anyone). I think once they get to TC youll see them start to rush more. But I know what you mean, now that you mentioned it I dont remember him being mentioned or in many highlights in the videos. But I think it’ll come…

agree
it is hard to go hard for the QB without pads

I thought Jenkins got cut?
along with other special teams guys like John Wendling and Derek Fine. I could be mistaken, though.
I really like Lankster and hope he makes the team. I can even see him giving Corner a battle for the 4th CB spot.
Lets wait until contact to see how Maybin looks. I’ll admit I’m very nervous about his ability to produce. He has to be good for our D to work.
Poz looks good, too. I like our depth at ILB heading into camp.
I realized Jenkins got cut tonight, forgot to edit it. I was thinking Huggins… very confusing. haha

I’ve mixed up Jenkins and Huggins sooooo often.

Lankster did just about the same thing last year if I recall correctly.
He has a deffinate nose for the ball but still needs a lot of refining when it comes to actually playing on the feild. He looked lost at times last year during the pre-season which is why you barely saw him, if at all, during the regular season. He still needs to develop, but he deffinatly shows a lot of potential.

PROPS TO THE O_LINE!
Sorry to say this… but the o-line isn’t playing so bad actually. And without 2 supposed to be starters in right now. That gives this unit a helluva competition to see this coming training camp. Freddy ran that rock pretty good last season…. If Marshawn can get over his limited carries and with the addition of a speedster in C.J that line automatically gets that much better. No doubt our O-Line will be improved this coming season!
Don't care whos throwing the ball as long as they're THROWING it and ain't HOLDING on to it!
