Et Tu, Marshawn?
The NFL is a fraternity. Players respect players, coaches respect coaches, and even the bitterest of rivalries generally are played out between the sidelines, and don't extend beyond that realm. I get that, and respect it.
Still, Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch gushing over the New York Jets rubs me the wrong way. Before you get your knickers in a twist, it's not because it's Marshawn Lynch. If C.J. Spiller had been quoted in Tim Graham's article, I'd be writing this same post. So relax. It's not the player. It's the Jets. Really? The Jets? Nooooooooooooooo!
"I'm probably not supposed to say that, but I'm excited to see what the Jets are going to do," Lynch told me after Thursday's minicamp practices. "I'm real excited.
"Now that's a team that I'm going to pick and play with on Madden. That's real talk."
Lynch acquits himself somewhat later on in Graham's piece, so I suggest you check it out. But just as a word of warning: if Marshawn starts handing out praise to Rex Ryan, all bets are off. I can only handle so much.

is it bad that i will play with every team on madden? hes kind of right if you think about it. in the madden world the jets are downright nasty, but that doesnt mean it will translate to the field. also left out a good quote by him at the end…which will help deter the harsh language towards ML
“It’s going to be a great thing to see on paper, fantasy, live, in practice, in video games,” Lynch said. “However you can see us get down to action and regardless of who the No. 1 is, even if I’m No. 5, it’s going to be beautiful to watch us play.” – when asked about the teams RB and competition.

Wow that comment is surprisingly mature from Marshawn. I mean he obviously wants to be our number 1 back, but he’s giving due praise to Freddy and CJ.
And now MRW has us voting for who we want to vote against!

I think Marshawn says things, and does things from a weird perspective.
He may or may not believe trade rumors, but he believes he is good and can be productive and hopefully did keep in shape till returning. He is there for the mandatory camps, and he will be at the very least making all the RBs around him better. I remember he and Freddy are close, and there is no reason why Spiller should flow well into that backfield. It may very well be possible that we have the best backfield in the NFL if they live up to their potential, which has been high.
Marshawn, has been one of the most popular and productive Bills for a couple seasons, outside of last, and he has many times been our ONLY player on offense, carrying the team as far as it got due to terrible QB play. Regardless of last year, Marshawn is very talented and RB is the position you just do, and that is what Gailey will most likely do with Marshawn… run him. And Lynch is a pretty good blocker and a vet. He will not be a liability.
However, he will be used much less in the passing game. The better back and any given time will be fed the ball and Gailey will decide who to favor. For an NFL coach, at Gailey’s stage, it has to be very exciting to be in charge of this offense, and team, calling all the plays, and doing so in an environment where he has near autonomy as far as decision making on the field, and seems to be in sync with Nix, our first real GM in 5 years.
Anyway, in conclusion I see the three backs coming close to equal carries with Spiller getting the least, but possibly leading the backs in receptions if he is productive and he is not a disappointment which he very well may be since it is a crapshoot.
It is Brohm’s Bills jersey that is the least stained with doo-doo... GO BILLS

Well if Buffalo wants to put Lynch in for a play and have the O-line not block for one play vs. the Jets I would be down. He is just trying to get off this team thats for sure. But he is stuck so he can either help his stock or hurt it…..its on him now

for a minute
there I almost was ready to swear off Marshawn. But then I read the Tim Graham article and realized they were talking about Madden 11.
You know what? When I play my buddies in the next Madden I’ll be pretty excited when I hit random team and get the Jets. They should be fun to play with.
Here’s the most important line from that article
Don’t think Lynch has surrendered his Buffalo allegiance.
They’re talking about videogames guys.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
EXACTLY !!!
Geez, it’s unbelievable how sensitive people have become. Hey guys, let’s face it – our team suck right now! The good news is Buddy is on a mission to fix that and I trust that he will.
The discussion was clearly around Madden 11 and nothing else and then he did mention that he was exited to play against these guys twice a year, which to me is great. He relishes the opportunity to go up against great players – what’s wrong with that?
For me the key phrases were:
Don’t think Lynch has surrendered his Buffalo allegianceand
regardless of who the No. 1 is, even if I’m No. 5, it’s going to be beautiful to watch us play
Rebuilding a team properly takes time and patience

I am not a Lynch supporter and this is clearly a non-issue

"I’m not sure if I disagree with this being the logic behind Nix’s decisions or if I disagree with this logic if it is what lead Nix to address the positions he did, but I definitely disagree with something." - kaisertown
I’m in full agreement, but we can’t expect people to not feel pulled in one distinct direction when 2 posts don’t scream out that it’s about a video game. The quote pulled above made me first think that he was high on them as a team, and also was hoping that would carry over into his videogaming.
But yes. i’m beginning to care as little as possible about this guy. I say he just needs to shut the !@#$ up and run over people. Nothing else matters to me, in talking about him.

For some reason this bother me not.
Lynch has a new beginning for me right now. He comes out of camp looking good and starts producing again this season all is forgotten, if not and he continues to have on and off field problems he is free to go.
We as a team are better off with him so i hope it works out. Regardless of who is our QB we need to have a smash mouth running game and Lynch does well in that area when given the chance.

I must break you. Someone fetch me my madden.
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun

Marshawn is done. I don’t really care if his comments were about Madden or not. This is not the sort of comment you want to hear when a team is trying to “change its culture” to a more winning attitude. IMO, there are plenty of players in the locker room who say the right thing (e.g. Fred Jackson, Eric Wood and Kyle Williams). Could you ever imagine one of them saying this?
On top of this comment, Marshawn looks fat, and when he answered Chris Brown’s question about his weight as saying “I’m comfortable”, he just confirmed his fatness. He was so terrible last year, and the main reason Jauron got fired was because he insisted on playing Marshawn who didn’t ever seem to have the field awareness of Freddy and drive for that extra yard to get first downs. Marshawn’s lack of productivity last year seemed partly because he was out of shape then as well and never had the same burst he did his first couple years.
Lynch and McGahee will last forever as posterboys for not picking running backs in the first round. Hopefully, Spiller, with his college degree, multitude of wristbands, charitable causes, admiration of Warrick Dunn’s charities, and love of his mama, will change all this, but the Bills recent luck with 1st round running backs has been bad.
I’ll be happy to see Marshawn go sooner rather than later, and think its ashame that the Bills were never able to get any trade value for him.
I also have to add that the real douche IMO is Tim Graham who always seems to drive for an attention grabbing headline about how horrible the situation is in Buffalo.
You know what?
I liked him better when he refused to talk to the media.
