Buffalo Bills 2000s Worst-Decade Team - OG2 Selection
About a month and a half ago MattRichWarren presentedus with his Buffalo Bills 2000s All-Decade Teamseries. And for about a month we voted on a series of poles to determine who was worthy of being on that team. But more often than not we also ended up complaining over the limited sometimes horrible talent that we had to pick from for any given position. So it was about at the TE position that I thought "hey why don't we also vote on the worst players that played for this team over the last decade?" And so here we are.
Now just like MattRichWarren'sseries I have a few criteria for players to be eligible for this team. They had to have played in at least a full season's worth of games in this decade to be eligible. Starting is not requirement, but you do have to have played significant amounts of snaps in those games. That means that, for example, theBills 3rd receiver might make the list, but a 4th or 5th stringer wont be considered. That means that we wont end up voting for 7th rounders that ended up playing 2 snaps. These are going to be real players that played real roles on this team over the last ten years. And just because a player ended up on the All-Decade team does not mean that you can't also be on the worst-decade team.
Alright, time for round 2 of the guards.
Corey Hulsey
Hulsey was signed onto the Bills as an undrafted free agent in the 1999 off season and spent two full seasons on the practise squad before becoming the Bills starter at RG during the 2001 campaign, his only active season with the Bills. He played in 16 games for us, starting 12 of them. In 2001 the Bills rushed for 1686 yards and allowed 45 sacks. He was released by the Bills after the 2001 season and signed with the Raiders where he would play the remaining 4 seasons of his career, but only starting in 5 more games.
Marques Sullivan
Drafted in the 5th round of the 2001 draft, Sully played 3 seasons for the Bills, his only 3 in the NFL. He played in a total of 32 games for the Bills, starting 22 of the, including starting every game of the 2002 campaign. The year that he was the starter at RG the Bills had 1596 rushing yards and allowed 54 sacks, the second most of the decade.
Mike Pucillo
Drafted in the 7th round of the 2002 draft, Pucillo sat his entire rookie season and stepped in as the team's starter at RG during his sophomore campaign, replacing an injured Sullivan. in his two active seasons for the Bills Pucillo played in 15 games for the Bills, starting 12 of them. In his year as the Bills starter (2003) the Bills rushed for 1664 yards and allowed 51 sacks. He played in 2 games for the Bills in 2004 and then went down to injury and was later released by the Bills. He went on to play for both the Browns and the Redskins, where he last played in 2007.
Ross Tucker
An undrafted free agent who got his start with the Redskins, the Bills signed him off the Cowboys' roster during the 2002-2003 off season. He was Pucillo's backup in 2003 and moved to starting LG to replace Ruben Brownin 2004. He played in two seasons for the Bills, playing in 28 games, starting in 17 of them. During his years as the team's starting LG (2004) the Bills rushed for 1874 yards and allowed 38 sacks.
Bennie Anderson
Anderson signed on to the Raven's roster as an undrafted free agent in 2000, spending the year on their practise squad. He then went on to be a 4 year starter for the Ravens at LG. He signed as a fee agent with the Bills in 2005 and was our starter at LG opposite Chris Villarrial. In 2005 the Bills rushed for 1607 yards and allowed 43 sacks.
Go vote!
Previous instalments: QB, RB, FB, WR1, WR2, TE, OT1, OT2, OG1

Bennie Anderson
He was one of the worst players that has played a significant role on this team in some time. He was beyond terrible.

That's like
Saying Kelsay is overpaid – c’mon K – still it’s hard not to be “captain obvious” on this pole !

Yeah, I voted Bennie Anderson last time. He made rushing the passer look effortless.
I think it’s a shame that Dockery won the first poll. I would have loved to get the chance to vote for Sullivan at some point. He was pretty bad as well.
SFC: Were you excited about Clausen dropping to the Bills pick? Or did you have a feeling that the Bills wouldn’t pick him anyway?
Galliford: Both, like when that hot chick waves at someone she knows standing behind you.
it HAS to be Bennie Anderson.
"I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly"
I am going Sullivan
At least Anderson was “good” enough to get a FA contract from the Bills. Sullivan went 3 and out……just like the Bills offense :-)

Thanks.....it was a toss up between him and Anderson

No Tutan Reyes?
The player I would like least at #9 would be my sister’s cat, Captain Creamsicle. She does have a great work ethic and agility, but I’m really concerned that at 9 lbs., she’s too small to play safety in the NFL. She also bites way too often on play action and is easily distracted by someone waving string in the crowd. Lastly, her wonderlic score was pretty awful, answering "meow meow meow" for most of the questions- Dr. Brackish Okun
Who?

Ok didn’t include him because he only spent one year with us and was NOT a starter. Didn’t see the point of including a non starter on a list that had 5 actual starters. In fact i left out more starters that could have been on the list as well.

Yes, I agree with why he was left out.....just answering your "who" question.

He was signed as a FA
But was so bad that he got replaced in the starting lineup after 6 games by Aaron Merz in 2006. Aaron Merz!! The Bills then moved Terrence Pennington into the starting lineup at RT, sliding Mike Gandy over to the LG spot that Reyes once occupied.
He was bad, real bad. Since he only had the 6 games of playing time with us, he didn’t meet your requirements, but he was Bennie Anderson bad.

Terrible offensive lines
The Bills have had a lot of terrible offensive linemen in the last 10 years. One of the things that amazes me the most is that every year it seems to be a new person in all the positions. I know its not actually the case. I think last year was the only year where they had new players in all 5 line positions.
The lack of continuity has to make bad players look even worse.
Well if continuaty makes any difference in how and offensive line plays then this year’s line should be better.

The guards were the worst position by far over the entire decade. You had Ruben Brown and Brad Butler but a whole lot of crap otherwise.
You can't have CHANGE without CHAN.
