I was scared that I would regret it if I didn’t do it, but ultimately I decided I didn’t want to do it."

Bills Night Practice Quotes - 8/16/10 | WKBW Sports
"Below are quotes from the Buffalo Bills following their evening practice on 8/16/10:"

Joe from NYC Blog: Um, do we still have a QB competition?
"Sure, Edwards deserves a shot at the starting quarterback job, but it shouldn't be handed over to him on a silver platter. By having the other quarterbacks sit out preseason games and complete passes to 4th stringers, it will only help Edwards to succeed. Fitzpatrick and Brohm have every right to winning this job. If this was legit competition, then Brohm or Fitzpatrick should be starting this Thursday against the Colts. Edwards had his chance and sucked against the Redskins. It's only fair to see what the other guys can do. Of course, it's all about smoke and mirrors for the Bills."

I Thought We Knew They’d Be Bad | The Goose's Roost
"Don’t get riled up. The preseason has as much meaning as Adrian Brody’s acting career post-"The Pianist." Thursday’s game will probably be just as painful to watch, but this is the hand we’ve been dealt. Don’t fold ‘em just yet."

Aaron Schobel retires
Aaron Schobel announces retirement from Buffalo Bills | Democrat and Chronicle

Fellow sackmaster says 'Schobel wore out' - AFC East Blog - ESPN
"Aaron Schobel wore out," New York Jets outside linebacker Jason Taylor said. "Plus, losing will do that to you, too. When you're winning, everything's a little easier."

Former Bills LB Aaron Schobel retiring | Houston, Texas
"My kids are getting older and I didn't feel like it was fair," he said. "It was getting to the point where it was starting to affect them, so that was the reason not to go back to Buffalo. It wasn't just the physical part, but the mental part, too. After the Bills released me, I weighed all my options and I just decided that at this point, this is what I wanted to do. I was tired of going back and forth. I just decided that this is what I was going to do."

Joe from NYC is right.

We keep hearing it’s an open competition, but Edwards continues to have the only opportunity with the 1’s. How open is that?

what are you going to do though? If you rotate guys then you stunt the growth for the rest of the guys. The oline now has to pay attention to different calls, the WRs have to be on the same page. It’s a trickle down effect.

This really was the only want to do it without stunting the growth for the rest of the offense. It’s not ideal but no situation where you’re looking for a QB is ideal. So he might be right, but in the end, does it really matter with the QBs we have? Let’s just move on and deal with this crap this season and hope we get a good signal caller next draft.

I'm not sure we have the tools or the talent....

Oh I know. I wish he’d just say that it’s Edwards’ job until he takes the team into the sewer. I wish he’d say the only real competition is for #2, and the loser would be sent packing. I tend to think that’s what’s going on here.

I'll say if for ya, FWIW

The real competition is for the #2 QB on the roster. Seriously, think of it that way and then look forward toward the season. Either way it spells controversy. Not something to look forward too. IMO if you want to avoid controversy, Edwards needs to go.

Probably, yes. Edwards is winning no fans in camp. What I do find funny are the classless kids who yell all types of things at him, then as soon as practice is over, it’s all “hey Trent, can you sign my football?”

I know it's early

As Kaiser put it. As a fan base we all need to support Edwards becasue he does represent the most talented of the group. I will do this when the season starts. I am very curious how the preseason unfolds. I will never beat a dead horse. Hell I supported Jaroun for almost four years.

As Hitler found out when defending the entire English Channel: He who defends everything, defends nothing.

If you prepare all three QBs equally, you prepare none of them. In OTAs he did that to make the evaluation. In training camp, he had to make his pick. The job can still be won or lost but in a different way.

You can't have CHANGE without CHAN.

On a side note:

If, somehow, the Giants cut Cruz or try to stash him on the practice squad – we HAVE to go get that guy.
