Dovetailing off of an idea I saw in Keysh's mind dump I think there is a triangle trade scenario that might bear some consideration.
Buffalo sends Lynch to Houston and a 4th round pick to Baltimore
Houston sends a 3rd to Baltimore
Baltimore sends Gaither to Buffalo
Houston gets Lynch for a 3rd, which seems a reasonable deal on both ends. Lynch has Pro Bowl potential but also a history of behaving stupidly. There's a good chance that Lynch won't sign a new contract with Buffalo anyway. He can't be happy that the Bills (1) demoted him and (2) used a first rounder on Spiller. CHIX has no loyalty to Lynch and RBs tend to be fungible commodities in the NFL. It makes a degree of sense for Buffalo to get something for him. Yeah, Jackson will miss the preseason but the name on the back of the starting RB isn't going to sink or save Buffalo's season. 5 to 6 wins = 5 to 6 wins....whether Lynch is running the ball or Spiller or some scrub.
Baltimore adds a pair of draft picks, likely a mid 3rd rounder from Houston and a very early 4th rounder from Buffalo. It would be better if Buffalo could get Houston to send Baltimore a 2nd but I don't see that happening. The Ravens get something for a guy they've demoted to RT....and who could become a Jason Peters type distraction.
Buffalo essentially gets a starting caliber OT for a 4th round pick and Lynch. True enough, the Bills would still need another starting caliber OT. While the Ravens demoted Gaither he'd clearly be the instant starter at LT for the Bills once his injury was healed (around the end of preseason). Four of the offensive line positions would be manned reasonably well with the fifth (RT) still something of a mystery.
